Exactly how does it reduce the effectiveness of this ship!? It's already a beast of a Sci ship at T5U. Giving it access to even one Temporal seat improves it's options, it doesn't 'gimp' it!

I agree and I guess the person hasn't seen the seating on the vorgon carrier a ship build for Temporal Ops (since the Vorgon did alot of time travel) also was only given a Lt. temp ops station but it don't gimp the ship in any way ship or form.

Well I thought it should have a commander temporal boff seat since the Wells is the main canon temporal ship and this is supposed to be an advancement of it.

OK, OP, you do realize that the ship is built and won't be changed, yes? I mean, to date, no ship's build has been changed after it has been released, so I'm not entirely sure I understand the point of this thread other than to just complain.

Its just to complain. Would have been nice to make it a full Temporal Spec ship like the Kelvin ships are full spec ships complete with the mechanics, but... can't win 'em all.

Sometimes expressions of dissatisfaction are part of someone's feedback, yes.

I think it is an interesting idea, to equip the temporal science vessel with two temporal BOFF slots. I think what OP means by wanting more "options" is that they would have liked for there to be room to slot more temporal BOFF powers.

Wait someone was planning to buy a T6 version of this ship for anything other then the consoles ?

Really though the wells was perhaps the best sci ship in the game at T5U its not like it needed much to retain the crown.

Why would anyone want to buy these just for the consoles outside of PvPers? There are barely any PvP players playing anymore, and in PvE there are far better things you want in those slots than these consoles.

No, people are buying this because it's a T6 version of the most iconic timeship. While I'm grateful these were released and the models and texutres are exceptional (great job devs!) the actual functionality of the ship isn't meeting up with what we've come to expect from T6 ships, let alone what we expected from the T6 timeship of all timeships.

I know it's not a change to add more spec seats, but they did still change the boff layout. It's entirely possible that any ship can receive changes. Every blog post about ships has that big fat warning at the bottom:

If its main selling feature is its value as a space barbie what would anyone care about some temporal seat count. I don't buy that one. lol

I also repeat the T5U ship was the BEST not even possible to argue it science ship in the game. So a small bump on the T6 makes it a small bit better then a ship that was already the best science ship in game.

The only way any of the other science ships in game contend for the crown of best science ship at this point is if you take the now universal Wells class consoles and use them in combo with those ships own console sets.

Nothing circular about it. What is it your suggesting exactly... a commander instead of lt. cmd temporal? Its not required. The ship was > then every other science ship at T5U. The best sci ship in game for years has been the Temporal sci, none of the T6 where superior to the good old wells T5U. That is a simple fact. Its been the best sci ship in game for a long time. It got a specialty seat, it got a T6 trait... and the consoles got upgraded... and Cryptic fought the urge to put it in a new lockbox. Cryptic doesn't get much right but they got this one perfect.

What are you even talking about? There are T6 science ships that surpass the Wells, and the current T6 Verne doesn't even pace with them either....

I thought it was "General Cryptic Design Philosophy" that Cmdr. Specialist seats are only available on the "flagships" of the class (ie, the ones that are sold in the $120 megabundles) and ships from "limited time only" promotions, DOff pack / R&D pack ones.

Since the Verne (T6 Wells) is, like my Pathfinder from the intel branch, not in either of these places (Infinity box is not "as rare" as the buy-a-pack ships), then "standard" seat construction rules indicates that it shouldn't have more than the LtCmdr. specialist seat.

And I could be way behind on my meta, but the "pro" Sci ship commanders all seem to agree that the "true" power of Sci isn't in the Temporal / Entropy tree, it's more in the "stock" powers and/or lockbox powers / torpboating, and that the plethora of Sci seats on the Temporal Science ships is what makes them one of, if not the, most powerful science ships in the game.
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Have to say I'm not losing any sleep over this issue.

I obtained a Verne class off the exchange. A little bit bitter about it initially as am still cheesed off that they have no interest in remodelling the Nova/Rhode Island.

However, I won a Wells class on lockbox 9 of a ten pack back in 2012 (first run of the Temporal lock box) - loved that ship, though not quite as much as the Nova. It obviously found less use as T6 ships appeared though. Needless to say though my fondness for the old T5 Wells definitely pushed me toward a purchase here, and I'm certainly not disappointed. Yeah, Cmdr Temporal would have been nice, but honestly don't feel crippled by the lack of that.

I'm still getting credits for one, but out of nostalgia, I took my Talvath out for a spin... and discovered I still love that little ship.. such a wonder to fly, and quite lethal!!, even with my MK XII weapons!

As my main is a Sci, I've enjoyed the Wells, Intrepid, Nebula and Vesta line of vessels, but the Paradox, for me tops out as the best Sci Ship in the game, with the Vesta line as the best C-Store option due only to it's hangar, as I use Delta Flyer's for Tac Beams.

Whilst they could have used this as an opportunity to put the Deconstructive Beam abilities on, we're at the point of saturation of abilities anyway, especially when you look at the console versions.

Commander temporal Sci would be useless, there are no temporal abilities that come anywhere close to GW3 or TBR 2/3 or Vortex 2/3. Temporal abilities were nerfed to hell and back as soon as everyone bought those packs, the only useful ones now are causal reversion, timeless collaps (mini GW) and recursive shearing (but only on massive targets. None of those are worthy of anything more than a Lt slot so I have no idea why anyone is mourning the lack of abilities that are **** to start off with.

I wasn't aware TBR is still a thing since the 'rebalance.' Graga Mal prices have dropped on the exchange like crazy being a direct reflection of this, and I specifically remember running rTBR as the 'FAW of science' was no longer effective in comparison to good old GW3, subspace vortex, and the rest of the science AoE on that ball.

Also, since temporal doesn't really compete with ordinary science especially since the early nerf (just like surgical strikes1&3 used to be powerful but nerfed right after the delta packs), this is all the more reason to include it part of the ship, for space-barbie's sake. 3 temporal abilities is barely sufficient to even make use of entropy.

Not required to you maybe, but remember the Wells is the canon Star Trek timeship, and Cryptic has made a big deal about temporal ships, sold a lot of very expensive ships and content around time travel.

"Has been" is the key word indeed. A good ship in comparison to initial T6 sci ships, sure, but not "factual" as you claim. Not being placed in a new lockbox makes no real difference since all lockboxes get merged within 2 seasons or so into the infinity lockbox.

Ships themselves have stats that set them apart. Nothing hidden, which if so, would be dishonest.

Scryer was the first T6 sci ship ever released, along with Dauntless, but that was announced a little later as an addition to the pack, and then its fleet variant came out later. In comparison to the T5-U Temporal Science vessel, it has:
    basic build-in cloak vs None
    +4,100 hull strength
    -0.02 shield mod
    DHC option
    t/e/s: 2/4/5 vs 3/3/5
    CMD intel seating
+5 overall subsystem power (+10 weapons +10 aux vs +15 aux)
    -1 turn rate
    -0.03 impulse mod
    passive stealth vs None
    intel gimmick vs None
starship trait emitter synergy vs None

    boff Uni: Ens uni
    tac: Lt/Intel
    engi: LtC
    sci: Cmd/Intel, LtC
    13 seats total

    vs. T5U TSV
    boff Uni: LtC, lt
    tac: none(uni)
    engi: Ens
    sci: Cmd, Lt
    12 seats total

Also, the Scryer is C-Store account-unlock plus fleet holding unlocks and military shipyard provisions for the per-character fleet variant. The T5 timeships are lockbox and character bound. Now, all ships have access to the temporal ship consoles and set bonus.
