6.4 GB Prepatch

Looks like something is inbound either this next patch or some time soon. I am guessing it is something for April Fool's. Anyone have any ideas?

    Yeah I got that same patch but what I would like to know is if they want us to download this there should be patch notes along with it if you ask me certainly for a prepatch where it might change and some users whose ISP enforces a data bandwidth cap.

    It's a rather VERY LARGE prepatch for users not to know what its supposed to be for.

    Just my $0.02 worth.

    14.5 must be coming on Thursday.

    Thye did mention the constable spec, but I'm curious here..Are the sector battlezones also dropping in here??

    That is supposed to come out with the ViL expansion.

    Mine glitched several times then wont download anymore. It opens like its about to but then closes itself likes its done it.

    I suspect we may get a new episode where we repair a borked ds9. Would make sense as it really needs to be at the wormhole.

    Thursday would be early for a prepatch as they tend to give it a week.

    Also this thursday for release would mean the inevitable bugs would be live over easter weekend.

    Due to lack of blogposts on what it is I'm just going to cancel rather than have it run every time I exit the game until a date is given.

    And if its 6 gigs just for some daft april fools thing I'll probably just not bother at all. Far too big a download for a 12hour thing that got toggled off the instant I could.

    Only event I can think of thats coming up is afk day celebration thing making rockets that defy most laws of physics and are more rng than skill anyway.

    No UPDATES...NO BLOGS what is it on 14.5? Have they no communications staff at all? Way too early for ViL but Im sure either a April's fool joke or 14.5

    As of now this huge pre patch is way too extensive and I just shut down my PC. Probably more STO SPAM like the Horta BOFF or the Artisanal Sonofication System from last year. Yet way too big for any of these?​​

    I think they will start releasing pre-patchs quite early... there is a lot of changes on ViL and some events coming soon, so it's make a lot of sense that it's a large patch, anyway, they could kinda divide it in smaller packs..

    Isn't the next weekend Elachi Weekend? Perhaps this patch is related to that.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Prepatching can be anywhere up to... two weeks ahead of a release I think?

    And there isn't any patch notes for it because nothing LIVE is being patched. The prepatching is to help take the load off the patch server when we have major releases.

    I'm still thinking 14.5 is coming. They wouldn't have a 6 gig joke. We should learn more as time goes on.

    Constable comes before ViL with Season 14.5 .
    It said so in a dev post recently. I think from the 20th.

    April 1st is a Sunday and i never seen Cryptic do any patching on a weekend before.

    I actually expected this, something big coming on the 29th, it was noted in the infinity lockbox end date. Lockbox end dates are usually a dead giveaway of something coming.

    I had this pop up so I went for dinner, only to see it's still downloading when I got back. Just means I'll have to postpone running The Breach for my remaining characters until later.

    That is true, perhaps the new infinity lockbox with the T6 wells?? As we are in the Infinity R&D promotion??

    Spoiler alert, the 6.4 GB prepatch is the April fools joke. They are going to cancel the prepatch on 1 April and post the patch notes stating that nothing was ever actually being patched, it was just a joke to see all the speculations and rumors the prepatch would create.

    I usually cancel the prepatching until the day before its due to drop because it often keeps redoing the whole lot over and over, not just topping up, and the actual patch is rarely all that much larger than the prepatch size.

    Reminds me of that Voyager episode "Renaissance Man" where the Hierarchy upload too much data to the Doctor's holo-profile and he starts to glitch.

    So much for all those pre-patches I downloaded. Got hit with another 15GB patch today. What exactly are they putting on our comps? Seems awfully high.

    The over 6GB pre-patch seemed to have downloaded just fine, then a smaller pre-patch followed yesterday, which probably deleted the first big pre-patch (prepatch folder under live has only a few smaller files left in it), and now it's downloading that 6GB patch again...

    And with the "shard maintenance" announced for today, will the whole patching resett to 0 again?
    I do believe in killing the messenger...
