My ambition is solely focused firmly on the Real World. Where I teach people how to drive eighteen wheelers for a living. Before I did this, my ambition was solely focused on being the best US Cavalry trooper and Sergeant I could be. I experienced real combat during the First Gulf War. Guess what, Slick? Real combat does not come with Respawn Points Or gear Upgrades. You cannot P2W in Real combat, either

I have been very happily married to the same woman for 31 years. I have two adult children whom I am very proud of. Both of whom have good careers in their chosen fields

What, if anything, do I have left to prove to anyone? Badassery over other players in a video game seems like a really tiny goal to me. And if this is the only way I can "prove" to the other Alpha Males that I too am an Alpha Male, then they've really lowered the admission criteria while I was not looking.

I play Star Trek Online to entertain myself and relax with my online friends. Not mark my pistol belt with another "pretend" kill of someone else. I have enough markers on my pistol belt already in Real Life. We kept score there, too. We usually don't talk about scores outside of 'family' because some things are not for everyone's ears. And it is considered rude and gauche by most of us who have been in combat for someone who has not been there to ask, "How many kills do you have?". Unlike in the movies, the memories never really go away. And they are unpleasant to say the least.

The above out of the way, let us look at the OP. It is a good idea. I dabble in PvP. And there has been no addition or improvement in the PvP scene in years. Which isn't good for the people who like it. Something like this suggestion is something I support and encourage Cryptic to add to the game. Why? Because I like the idea of people enjoying themselves while playing STO. No matter how they choose to do so.

Coming in here to thump your chest and look down your nose at people like me is not the way to win friends or influence people.

Stopping you right there dude. FORCING PvP never goes well, and can lead to a new kind of griefing in game where marauding players will seek out less geared players and gank them ON PURPOSE for teh lulz. Essentially giving rise to something known as a Player Killer. Someone who hunts other players. We don't want PKs here.

PvP in MMORPGs should always be an OPTION. Never forced. You want forced PvP? Go play CoD or World of Tanks.
My favorite PvP was in Avengers Alliance. Technically it was optional.... BUT.... doing PvP would give you that game's equivalents of Zen, lockbox keys, unique gear items, and more. So while you weren't required to do it.... you had a strong incentive to do it. I think it took me all of a YEAR of playing the game to get to where I actually did reasonably well in PvP.
    preparetodie_by_marhawkman-da75j2n.png
Yes it took over a year for me to piece together that horror.... well that's because NONE of the pieces existed when I started. I got bits of gear as I played and put it together one piece at a time. Maybe half the bits are things from regular play. Some of the key components were PvP rewards.

PVP is a bloated rotting corpse time to cut it loose. Plus OP there have been MANY good solutions to fixing PVP that have gone unheeded. This would do nothing to bring people in to PVP.

As a pvp player you are forced to do pve, why not make pve players forced to play some pvp

They did guess what those quques are dead once the rep was filled they turned into deserts. I think Cryptic leaned a lesson with those don't force PVP on anyone. Plus nobody is forcing PVE on you if you don't like it quit the game.

Hey there whats up? I have seen this post and I wanted to add some as well :)
Dont think any1 knows me, i'm a newbie player who started playing STO 3/4 months ago and I'm really enjoing this game, you all can easy catch me on ESD zone chat speaking with Mycroft, 1 of the best STO players with a great knowledge of each Star Trek movies and series and he also speaks great of PvP and PvP in this game. Once I played a mission called Infected Space Borg and after it some1 posted some numbers in team chat and I have noticed, after asking what were those numbers, I made 6.500.000 damage and i was so happy coz i knew i did great in that run (if any1 wants any tips about making damage or piloting just contact me). Yesterday for example i used the newest Re-Engeneering for re-make some weapons and after just 3k dilithio spent i was able to make 3.000.000 energy credits in no time. (I can show u a screenshot if u dont believe me).
After all of these i just want to add a really BAD experience i had when somebody draw me and I unfortunatly joined a PvP queue: wow, I got totally shocked, my 6.500.000 damage was nothing and also i got killed by uknown people (even the great Mycroft didnt know about any of them)... And after that traumatic match I just decided to never ever join again a PvP map and also helping new players to dont join it coz is so really hard as I noticed in that match, (I still cant sleep sometimes if i remember it )... So in my opinion this thread is really bad, no1 should follow players who ask for PvP rewamp and nobody have to join any match because people in there clearly cheats (remember with my 6.500.000 damage i did nothing to them).
So thats all for me, hope u will sometimes have a look of ESD Zone chat, cya in game fellas...

Wow slow down..Your still fresh and clearly need to know how this game works..Damgae aint everything everywhere..And 6.5Mil DPS?! What the heck are you running?! The DPS record is 500K thereabouts and S14 record is 351K as per the DPS league site..Also kindly refrain from spreading news about not joining whatever because thats what the forums are for..So my advise do a little bit more research on how the game works..Your still fresh to the game..And double check your figures on DPS..6.5Mil is most unusual..

As for this suggestion of 10V10 vpv space..The normal PvP ques arent filling for PvP so that in its own right is a NO GO..Also I would gladly come to the party if the balance is there across the classes..Currently SCI can tear right through any amount of resist you have and vap you in 5 seconds..So tell me there is no substantial crepp in there..Also consider the high cost factors invovled..And from the PVP scorboard posted by kyle223cat its quite obvious that hte majority of PvP base is SCI which also explains why in PvE you dont see SCI players often at all sometimes never..

honestly I think they need to do an event much like the current one, but for 5v5 PvP. But to make it fun there need to be a few things.

1: losers need to get something. Why because that's what noobs do in PvP: GET REKT!

2: you need an incentive to try to win. Point 1 means losers get something, but winners need to get MORE.

3: also it needs PUGs. You don't necessarily need it to REQUIRE PUGs, but set it up so that random noobs can hit the "join queue" button and go.

    Back on topic:
Again, the OP is a very good suggestion. Cryptic has been and is continuing to be very short-sighted by ignoring the PvP part of STO. STO really does need an active PvP community for its continued health and longevity. All the best console games have PvP as an integral part. Because this keeps the money flowing and attracts new people to the game.

I want Cryptic to pay more attention to PvP. Because I want people to play STO the way they enjoy playing it. As long as others are playing STO, the lights are on and I can continue to enjoy this chapter of my lifelong addiction to Star Trek.

I do not know you well enough to be bothered with hating you. What I dislike very much is the attitude you are displaying. Which is belittling and demeaning to others. So I'm calling you on it. If you would like to have an adult conversation on this topic, without all the jumping about and hair pulling, fine.

PvPers are their own worst enemy here on the forums. I read what you post and it makes me want to stay as far away as possible from PvP. I know all PvPers cannot be this way, but my gut keeps telling me there are more than one. And one is one too many. Other PvPers post the 'victim card' over and over again. Which is equally irksome and tiring.

I know some very fine people who play STO only for PvP. Then, I read what you've posted and all I want to do is cringe for them. Because others read your stuff and paint the people I know with the same brush. Who do not deserve this.

My RL is very stressful and more than a little...let's say "exciting" and leave it at that. When I log in to STO, I want to have some fun and forget about the cares and worries of RL for awhile.

Whyever would I spend my limited free time with people who seem to be determined to be as toxic as possible, as often as possible, as long as possible? That's just trading one set of aggravations for a different set. Not my gig, man.

Like I said earlier, you want to have an adult converation about PvP, great. But if all you can do is spill vitriol onto my screen and make poor attempts to link STO to my politics or where I live, then you're doing yourself and the PvP community exactly zero favors as a typical representative.

Folks we've tried to be nice and I made perfectly clear that if there were further issues that the mod pen would come out or a full on thread lock. We asked politely to keep things focused on the original discussion. Since that couldn't be done this thread is now /closed.
