Using this helpful website it appears that the patching servers have are offline currently and have been for about an hour. That'll stop you from being able to boot the game though the STO Launcher.

Responding to what people have said earlier, this past hour is the first time I've seen the server down in the past few days. But I too have been having difficulty connecting for the past day (not including this past hour). I've had to run another game launcher simultaneously and boot STO multiple times but it did eventually connect.

just thought i would provide a new tracert because it is showing slightly different results, maybe a sign of the issue being worked on? the same hop is still timing out though.

*sigh* Yeah, down for me, too. Spouse thinks it's a DDOS attack. Says something about "memecached attackers" have been trying to blackmail multiple sites the last few days. Either the STO people are in the guts of trying to stop the DDOS, or asleep, I guess... And here I only just now got a chance to log in for a Phoenix Pack. *sigh*

I too am suffering from this issue, and since i was getting booted between loading screens previously i figured and uninstall/reinstall was in order. Now i can't even get launcher to connect to finish re-installing the game . . .

anybody happen to know what the ip address is for that missing hop? i'm curious to know what happens when the address is pinged and tracert'ed

I suspect the missing hop at 13 is their border router. Corporate border routers often don't reply to trace routes or pings. I'm not so sure about my DDoS hypothesis now, since the round trip times aren't very bad, and there are no packet losses in the traceroute, both of which would be impacted in a DDoS attack. Looking more like a server down to me now.

I saw STO release a Tweet not long ago that they're looking into the issue for s fix. There's gonna be one grouchy technician somewhere in North America West getting a laarrge cup of coffee. :D
  • iathoriathor Member Posts: 71 Arc User
Said grumpy tech may be in Boston, that's where the traceroutes show the sever to be. Though they may manage the server from the West Coast

Just came back after ages and I couldnt get the arc launcher to even open. The repair function did nothing. Right now the game is updating using the cryptic launcher. Im not even sure if it will launch i thought the cryptic launcher was replaced by arc

Nope, the Cryptic launcher was not replaced with Arc. You can still play STO without Arc. Thanks.
