Faster, Scotty!

I keep oing Red Alerts, but by the time I reach a cube those I am paired with have nuked at least 2. how can I speed up my ship? ( best engine, etc.)
A Trill, a Gorn, a Jem'Hadar, Bejoran and a Voth walk into a bar, and the Bartender asks "What is this a Joke?"
"Nope, just my away team" the trill replies before ordering a round for the bar.

    Are you using full impulse?

    Attack Pattern Omega, Aux to Dampeners,Evasive Maneuvers,Emergency Power to Engines (and Competitive Engines) are temporary speed boosts after Full impulse..

    Given you've cited the Borg Red Alerts, are you sure it is a speed issue? (nuking a Borg RA as you've described isn't too difficult if you know how to play and are geared suitably)

    no it is a speed issue.
    We can warp in at the same time hit full impulse, and I'm still left in the dust.

    I think we're going to need to know your build, especially Impulse Engines, before we can really help much.
