Think we'll see the Event Voucher buy back store again any time soon?

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
I'm playing "Scylla and Charybdis" on all my characters because I like to keep them caught up. As a result, they're all collecting 400 Event Vouchers each. I'd love to be able to sell those for experience points like we've done in the past.

    Probably not until after the event ends, I'm thinking...

    Probably not at all for the yearly vouchers. It was intended as a way to burn off any excess saved older versions of the tokens used to unlock event ships when they converted to the yearly vouchers, and was never implemented for excess yearly vouchers.
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    That's what I'm afraid of...ugh, it would be nice if we could at least trade them for marks or dil, or something.

    You should be able to turn them in for marks. Is there no daily project for the anniversary like there are for the other events after you've earned the ship for the account?
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    Good question, hadn't thought of that. I've got 4 more days on the ship project, then I'll check...

    Not really. The Buyback store had a bunch of different sizes of specialization xp rewards, of which there are none in the Phoenix Prize Pack, the starship emotes, which are also not in the Phoenix Prize Pack, and a couple of different grades of upgrades, which the Phoenix Prize Pack does have a better version of.

    By the way, it's been 2 years since the last event Buyback was introduced. Isn't it about time to put those starship emotes somewhere else? We were originally told that they would be coming to the GPL store at some future time. Has the exclusivity period been reached?

    Been hoping for a while to see it come back for the ship emotes as much as anything else.

    Given that its specific to the anni tokens there's not really a reason why other than they can't be bothered making sure the new yearly token is added into the stores accepted currency list.

    Considering that the ship is an account unlock, I don't know why cryptic hasn't changed the 400 voucher reward to be a once per account reward. They've already decided that old event vouchers can't be used for anything so may as well tie up that loose end.
    When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

    Right. Since there is no longer ability to earn multiple ships, there is no point having players run the event on multiple toons at all. If the ship tokens were once-per account, they wouldn't even need to make new tokens every year.

    Exactly, and I missed so many days already this year, and will probably miss a few more, that I'm glad I can at least finish last year's ship.
    I still have the practice schematic from the old crafting tutorial on Memory Alpha when it was bugged back in season 6 in my inventory. No option to discard it. I'd be glad if I could get rid of this Practice schematic before either the game or myself cease to exist. Thank you for your time.

    I finished the ship project a couple of hours ago and there is a daily project for 40 marks of your choice (including Competitive marks) for 40 vouchers that opens up afterward. At least you'll get something for your vouchers on other characters.
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    Once the ship is earned account wide, do you know if that project unlocks account wide too? If so, that's great news! Thanks!
    One more run to go for the ship, then I can use those vouchers to collect rep sponsorship tokens for my newest character.

    It does. I didn't even claim it on my other characters yet and they all had the daily project available. I didn't see any notice that I had unlocked it for the account, but it definitely did unlock for the account.

    Can only second this, daily 40 marks project as in other events is activated. And 400 marks for one single mission you may want to play anyway because gear ain't too shabby :)
