The tzenkethi's drive to seek and destroy them with weapons of mass destruction always suggested the crystals were something self-determinate. Something dangerous by itself, not just through falling into enemy hands. It would've made no sense for them to do that if it was just some power source, even a dangerous one.

Personally I had guessed some kind of energy beings, but then we've had those a plenty in STO already so bugs are probably better. And if anything, their appearance as "generic bugs" just raises more mystery around them. We still don't even know why the tzenkethi see them as such a high threat.

I hope they reveal what it is that makes them so dangerous that the Tzenkethi feel the need to eradicate them at all cost.

I'm just going to throw this wild idea out there....

In beta-canon, the Hur'q are described as insectoid warriors, and in the video game "Star Trek: Invasion" they are depicted as having been trapped in another dimension(explaining why they vanished), but having left behind many warriors in a secure complex to bring about their return. While STO can't directly use things from other games.... what if these Drantzuli serve a similar purpose? Some sort of proto-Hur'q species seeded across many worlds so their race could be reborn?

Cryptic has always left bread crumbs in their plotlines that kick-start the events of the next plotline. We know 2018 is all about DS9, and the Gamma Quadrant, but besides the Son'a casually mentioning the Dominion in "Brushfire", we haven't seen much else related to the Gamma Quadrant in this storyline so far. Cryptic also loves exploring supposedly dead species(Iconians), and mysterious one off seen/mentioned species(Elachi, Bluegill, Solanane, Tzenkethi), as we all know, and the Hur'q are this defined.

The Drantzuli being proto-Hur'q could be a great way to kickstart a DS9 themed expansion, with the Dominion coming to ask us for help in the senario that the Hur'q have hatched and matured across many worlds in the Gamma Quadrant, quickly overrunning The Dominion.

This is a very interesting hypothesis.

Expectations are very low, seeing as AoY was such a let down, for me at least.

M.A.C.O. Phaser Rifles & Pistols (Full Auto and Sniper), Ferengi "inspired outfits that can be worn by Boff's as well as Captains and can be readily colored to taste.

That's pretty much all I want.

What do I hope to see?
Gereral: New missions created more often. Playable Liberated Borg available for Zen. (I know it's part of the life time deal, but it's the only thing I really want from that deal, and I'm not paying $2-300 just to get that one thing.) An account wide unlock ship with a bank/mailbox/exchange on the bridge. (On that note...) That exlusive Ferengi ship available to all. Playable Hirogen! A ship set with a plasma beam (not cannon or turret) and a regular direct fire torpedo, like photon, quantum, chroniton or transphasic, NOT a destructible, like plasma or tricobalt. Dagger as a melee weapon.
    Federation: T6 Ambassador class cruiser.
KDF: Light bulbs. I hate needing a flashlight to walk around on my own bridge! T6 Vorcha.
Romulan: More cruisers with warp cores! (On that note...) T6 D7 Battlecruiser for Romulans (with a warp core) as seen in "The Enterprise Incident". A reman ground set, obtainable from the New Romulus reputation system.
I know we won't get all of this, but you asked what we were hoping for.

I really hope they release a T6 Oberth, they already released a T6 Connie, Miranada, and NX.

    1. They're called BOFFS. Or from the Omega Reputation/accolade. If you want to play as the race, you know what to do. You don't want to do that thing, so you miss out.
    2. It's easy. Make lots of money, load up on Ferengi ships for all toons on your account. Problem solved.
    3. Playable Hirogen...Going to guess you can make an alien gen, get the lobi outfit, get the Hirogen ships/consoles. Use Hirogen tetryon weapons. There you go! Hirogen!
    4. You mean like the Romulan reputation BEAM weapon? The same set that doesn't get a turret or cannon option?
    5. We've already got a bloat of sets that have a photon torpedo. Transphasic on the other hand...
    6. I'd take a dagger, or a two-handed weapon, with two-handed animations. Not lirpa or bat'leth either.

I love DS9 and dominion. So i hope i will enjoy the new gamma quadrant content.

But i strongly hope it will be VERY different from AoY.
Even i like TOS, it was not funny to play again all the missions, all the reputations, etc...
There aren't different ending or plot affecting choices, so another "replay everything" was not funny.

So, if there will be a new faction i hope it will be really a new faction with its story, its plot. And not just play 3-4 missions then join fed or kdf main side.

At this point, maybe, would be more enjoyable a longer chapter with more episodes.
In any case i strongly hope we don't have to play all the story again like in agents of yesterday.

As one of my favorite activities in STO is playing and replaying story missions I utterly disagree. Besides as 2 past recruit events have shown if the next expansion also has a recruit event we will have to replay those missions.

Well, that's a matter of personal tastes. I find very, very, very boring to do the same things 100 times IF there aren't choices and or other possibilities to explore.
In some old school role playing games i enjoyed to play and re-play it...because i could make different choices, with different results.
    If nothing changes, that's boring.
Recruit event with a "replay the same missions" for another time, that's very boring. i know a few friends that didn't do that..even with the recruit bonuses.
you like to do the same things over and over. i don't. i like and always welcome new content instead. personal tastes.

I'm actually hoping technical involves different outcomes, that'd make the repetition less insufferable. I never bothered with a lot of the sets due to the attached missions being to drawn out and going the same way. I also hope to see Daniels permanently erased from the timeline, all possible timelines. Hate that guy.

My friend, I think we have some miscommunication going on here. My list was a wish list, not a list of expectations. I honestly doubt some of these things will happen, but, it would be cool they did. That's the idea behind a wish list, right? Now, onto the points you brought up.

    1) As I understand it, "BOFF" = bridge officer, aka, away team member, and "Playable" = character, aka, captain or toon. I could be wrong, but I don't think you get both when you buy one or the other. You are correct about the current state of the game. I can pay the fee, or spend my money on something that gets me way more bang for the buck. But as I said above, this is a wish list. The cost of a playable liberated Borg is something that I hope will change.

    2) The whole point of an account wide Ferengi bridge, which they have done in the past, is so that my alts can be more efficient at making money. So, if you count up all those Ferengi ships I would need to buy, and weigh that against what I would earn with those ships, it's not worth it. I already knew I could do your idea. It's just not profitable.

    3) You have a point about the playable Hirogen, but there are issues with your idea. First, I'm not that good with the character creator. If Cryptic offered a playable Hirogen, not only would they do a much better job of making it, but there would also be a lot more variety of Hirogen faces and body types. Second, no NPC would ever refer to me as Hirogen. Third, any player who clicks on my character would see it listed is "Alien". You're right, it could be done your way, but it's second prize at best. I'd still rather see Hirogens officially offered as playable.

    4) No, the plasma beam set in the Romulan reputation includes a plasma torpedo, and I thought I clearly stated that I wanted a plasma beam set that does not include a plasma torpedo. I also use beams and omnis, so I would be disappointed if it was cannons and/or turrets. Anyway, about the torpedoes...

    5) Plasma beam and transphasic torpedo would work for me. Photon would work, but you're right, we've got a lot of photon sets. None with a plasma beam, though. Chroniton or quantum would work, too. But I would be really disappointed if they paired it up with either a plasma or a tricobalt torpedo. I hate both of those.

We may not agree on everything I've said here, and really it's up to the devs, anyway. But I hope I've cleared up a few things.

While I personally enjoyed AoY, I can understand why some people might be disappointed.

LoR and DR were far more meatier expansions, but, at the same time, they were only really meaty because Cryptic basically content droughted us for a year before the release of either. AoY on the other hand had far less content then the previous expansions, but there was a lot more content between expansions, instead of the year long content drought we had before.

In many ways, the last few episodes of the Iconian War arc, and all the episodes of Future Proof that came out before AoY, were really part of AoY, but instead of doing it all in one drop, they did it bit by bit until they could release the rest of it in the expansion proper.

True, I doubt the devs are up to the task of making another LoR based expansion, but I hope for the best.

I suppose the only silver lining is that having a Cardassian or Dominion fraction added to that game, with only 5 unique missions, levels 1-50 unique ships and then joining either the Fed or KDF to play their missions, wouldn't make any sense..

I’d like to see a new ground battle zone and a super elaborate ground social hub. I really liked exploring the New Romulus and Nimbus maps hunting for the accolades, actually lost track of time doing it. Would have liked to have seen more done with the colony holding. Visually, it is stunning. But once you start poking around trying to climb the mountains you start noticing all the invisible walls boxing you in. Plus, it’s always so desolate; people only come to do the chores, never to just hang out, I guess because it’s out of the way in the alpha quadrant. What we need are some trenches filled with Jem Hadar and Cardassians to slay, then a real chill mountain to climb afterword so that we can sort out the dead in our minds and find peace.

I'd like to see a slow down of new ships being introduced, there are too many coming out way too fast. Make the introduction of new ships a major event, perhaps by introducing them via new Featured Episodes.

If development on ships is slowed down I'd like to see some changes/updates made to Bridge Officers (BOFFS). Expand the differences between Tactical, Engineering, and Science officers even more than they currently are in the game. Science officers, for example, would be best suited to complete missions that require expertise with terraforming. Engineers would have a huge advantage when planning technological upgrades or repairs, while Tacticle Officers would have a bigger boost when ground combat is required. As it stands there is rarely a reason to change the makeup of your away teams, make missions that might require some thought as to which officers you have to send and how they may have to be equipped.

Revamp of DS9. Add the medical bay and fix the scale since some of the rooms feel bigger than they should in certain places. Also retro fit the starbase to give it a more Federation feel to it it's tech. Remember this is 30+ years after Nemesis, the Bajorians are members of the Federation now and the station should reflect that realty. StarFleet has had decades to update the decor and tech left behind by the Cardassians and given the importance of Deep Space Nine I'd doubt it be left as is. I'm not saying it should look completely different but have a more Bajoran or Starfleet feel to it.

Unfortunately, ship development is something that isn't going to be slowed down anytime soon. Let's take a look back at the ships to date last year (not counting the 2016 ship but starting from the anniversary)

    January 2017
    - Lukari Ho'kuun Science Vessel was released
    - Tzenkethi ships made their debut, we knew that playable ships would come out later
    - Undiscovered lock box, to use assets developed for AoY (Romlan and D9 & Atlas) plus an extra NX refit design (4 ship)
    - Elachi ships updated to Tier 6

    February
    - Multi-mission science Explorers were released to make a set with the Lukari ship. (9 ships)
    - 26th Century Dreadnought ship R&D promotion (3 ships)

    March
    - Allied Escort bundle, featuring 2nd ever Caitian ship, 1st ever Ferasan ship and a reman T6 revamp of the Dhelan Warbird

    April
    - Privateer Lockbox/Lobi ships featuring 2 TNG alien ships as part of the TNG celebration

    May
    - Advanced Light Cruiser bundle, featuring the T6 version of the Miranda and 2 brand new designs for the other 2 factions
    - Amarie Smugglers Escort R&D bungle

    June
    - Vorgon Ryn'kodnan carrier released for summer event

    July
    - Son'a Command Science ship and Son'a Intel Battlecruiser released as lock box ships

    August
    - Son'a Dreanought R&D promotion ship

    September
    - Allied Flight Deck Cruiser bundle, featuring 1st ever Tellarite ship, new Orion ship and new Suliban ship

    October
    - After 10 months of waiting, Tzenkethi ships make their debut in a lock box, along with the 2nd ever Lukari ship featuring a leftover design from the community vote. (3 ships)
    - Miracle worker mega bundle, which gave us ships to use for the new specialization (9 ships)

    November
    - No new ships were released.

    December
    - Breen Plesh Tral Heavy Raider to complete the T6 ships for Breen

In all, 49 ships were released for 2017, not including ones that have a fleet ship with them.

Ship development is something that the ship artists and whomever comes up with the abilities for the ship do whenever they need a new lock box or even a new expansion. There's nothing to say they can't do what you want and still bring some new ships. It's a matter of IF they want to do what you want.
