"This is my plan for the Ask'Kaar," the Empress laid out to her staff. "I do not want to destroy them or their culture or society. After having it done to my own people, I would never do it to another. And I will not have it done in my name ever. I do intend to take away their ability to attack others. They will never capture and harm another being again."
She looked around the table as the gathered faces nodded in agreement.
"We will attack from the direction of the Alliance side of their borders. We must ensure that our ships stay inside the Ask'Kaar borders at all times. The only time that they my cross over in to Alliance territory is if they are damaged and need assistance. Those that aggressively invade into their space are fair game for them. Make sure our more 'enthusiastic' captains are well aware of this."
"We won't support them?' General Smith asked.
"The President and I came to an agreement. Any of their ships we find over here illegally are ours to do with as we please."
"I still don't like how he phrased," Thay commented.
"Still, we will focus only on their military assets," The Empress continued. "Primarily their ships, fleetyards and ground implacements. Civilian targets are to be avoided. We will not fire on or attack any or all of them. Make sure that they all know that anyone that deliberately attacks civilians will be summarily executed. The only soft target they need to worry about in the spot where their skull meets their spine."
"If we leave those untouched, they'll run there to hide," Thay said.
"I know," the Empress said smiling. "I want them to. I want to show them hiding behind their civilians, using them as living shields. I want to show that to the rest of the galaxy."
"It'll destroy their credibility," Jasmine said. "Such a cowardly act will turn everyone against them."
"Exactly. I want them isolated and alone."
"So once you've done all this, what will you do with them?" General Smith asked. "They'll be defenseless."
"The strong are supposed to protect the weak," The Empress said. "We will look after them."

"Dislodging the Ask'kaar military from any subject worlds will be difficult and if we have to land troops, we may be looking at casualties" said Smith. "General, planetary landings will be a last resort. How ready are your vehicles?" asked Heath. "We've had 25 of them built, the Infantry fighting vehicles are being built as we speak" answered Smith. Smith then brought the tests up on a screen, Heath and her staff got a full fire power demo of the tanks as they charged across the training area supporting a simulated infantry attack and defense. "In the past, troops have been needlessly thrown away by their commanders as cannon fodder. It's time the infantry got support that can provide long range fire support" said Smith. "That should cause terror among the Ask'kaar ranks, they will have never seen one of these before" replied Thay. "It's time they got a dose of tank terror" answered Smith.

"General, keep the armor in reserve" ordered Heath. "Ma'am" answered Smith. "Any Ask'kaar who are taken prisoner are to be treated as prisoners of war and well treated, any soldier caught abusing prisoners is to be executed on the spot" said Heath. "Ma'am" chorused her staff. "Meeting dismissed" said Heath. Heath asked Smith to stay behind as something was bothering him, "I see Col Bray is most persistent in wanting to fight" said Heath reading the PADD. "I'm keeping her grounded, she cannot be a mother and soldier at the same time at her little one's age" answered Smith. "Wise precaution" replied Heath. "Lt Cmdr Isoisa Bray will be at the helm of the Bellerophon, she's one of the best pilots we've got. I'll leave two of my most trustworthy officers on Terra to make sure Col Bray is alright" answered Smith. "I'll be needing her technical expertise here" replied Heath.

"Agreed" answered Smith. "Battle Fleet Omega will be the tip of my spear, tie down as much of their resources as you can and sow confusion among their military" replied Heath. "Causing mischief is what I do" answered Smith as Attila jumped on his knee. "Attila, not when I'm working. You're too big to be a lap dog" said Smith as Attila jumped back down nearly winding Smith. "Pet or bodyguard?" asked Heath. "Bit of both" answered Smith. "How old?" asked Heath. "Got him at four months and he's nearly a year old now" answered Smith. "Be firm but fair with him on training, you're alpha to him" replied Heath. "Attila, you cannot lick the empress's hand" said Smith as Attila sat there tail wagging wanting a fuss. "When wolves do that, they are accepting the new pack member, it's normal behavior in canines" replied Heath as she gave Attila a stroke. "General, prepare your troops, dismissed" ordered Heath. "Ma;am" answered Smith as he was dragged out of the door by Attila wanting his walk.

      Ask'kaar/Alliance border (Prime)

Battle Fleet Omega jumped in on the Ask'kaar side of the border and formed up for advance, the rest of the Imperial fleet arriving afterwards as the Imperial assault on the Ask'kaar began. The first system on General Smith's list was the Fler system, what he planned was a Pearl Harbor assault on the Ask'kaar naval base in orbit. "Ladies and Gentleman, look at this orbital space carefully for soon it will be a battlefield" said Smith to his captains. "How much of the Ask'kaar fleet stationed here?" asked Captain Nagumo. "The entire third fleet according to the prisoners we interrogated" answered Smith. "Neutralizing this base would secure the advance's flank in this sector" advised Captain Vorik of the I.S.S. Seleya. "We need an illogical solution to keep the Ask'kaar fleet in port" answered Smith. "We need to draw their defensive force away so we can get to the big juicy battleships and dreadnoughts" suggested Captain Porter.

"Destroyer and escort group commanders, kite their defensive force away but avoid any engagements. The rest of us will attack from this position below the galactic plain and swarm their defenses with fighter drones. Targets are fuel, ammunition and and any capital ships that are docked" said Smith to his captains. "Sir" chorused the officers and they left for their ships.

      Battle of Fler (Prime)

Destroyer and Escort groups formed up as ordered and began sensor probing the Ask'kaar defense force, the Ask'kaar defense force took the bait and chased after the destroyers and escorts. The Ask'kaar defense force soon found itself caught in the broadside arcs of Imperial cruisers from Smith's reserve, the Ask'kaar ships were disabled then boarded after the Ask'kaar commander struck her colors and surrendered. The rest of the fleet now moved from their attack start line as swarms of fighter drones and ramming drones crashed into the Ask'kaar third fleet. The Imperial ships now decloaked right in middle of the enemy base and destroyed the defense stations before they could fire. Imperial troops then boarded the station and secured it, after downloading the data from the computers, they evacuated all non-combatants to transports and sent them to civilian stations in orbit. The military bases were then occupied by Imperial forces to oversee the next phase of the operation.

Ask'kaar defenses on the ground now had to be neutralized before Fler could be liberated. After a short air raid, the troops were landed and they seized the the defense command and control bunkers of the Ask'kaar garrison. The garrison after a short fire exchange laid down the arms and marched out with their hands up. The Ask'kaar commander seeing that it was over asked Smith for a ceasefire. Smith's terms were that the Ask'kaar military withdraws from the Fler system and restores control back to the indigenous people. Seeing sense, the Ask'kaar agreed to those terms and the Ask'kaar military on Fler signed a surrender, effective immediately, Smith made sure that all Ask'kaar left Fler and sent them on their way in disarmed ships escorted by fighter drones. Military personnel were processed as prisoners of war. In a secure call to the Empress, Smith said "Fler liberated and Ask'kaar third fleet destroyed." When Heath got the report, she smiled. "No civilian losses and the Fler liberated, Ask'kaar third fleet destroyed, I want this on INN" said Heath to Jasmine. "Ma'am" answered Jasmine.

        Ask'kaar/Terran Front (Prime)

"General, enemy fleet movement reported from our recon probes" reported Sydulla. "Put it up on the viewscreen" ordered Smith, a map then appeared and that gave Smith a look at enemy movements, "Sonic, signal the fleet and advance to this position here." "Boss" answered Isoisa Bray. "Let's spoil the Ask'kaar's day, go" ordered Smith. The fleet then jumped into ambush position and cloaked, they lay in wait for the Ask'kaar Second Fleet as it was moving to intercept the main Terran advance. "Enemy on scanners, several dreadnoughts supported by battleships and cruisers" reported Sydulla. "Tommen, when we spring our trap, jam communications and sensors. Isabella, be ready to fire the instant we come out of cloak" ordered Smith, "Sonic, I need finesse here. Crazy is good here." "You know me too well" joked Isoisa. "Ready" reported Sydulla and Tommen. "Fleet reports ready" reported Cmdr Petrofski.

"Let us unleash the Empress's fury on the enemy and smite them down" replied Smith. "Fire to disable?" asked Petrofski. "We can add the captured ships to our forces, plus I want to avoid needless bloodshed" answered Smith. "I know what you mean, on Betazed during the war, our prat of an officer ordered us to hold a position to the last man that was pointless. I saw all my boot camp buddies get wiped out" replied Petrofski. "I know that feeling all too well. Ideally, I'd like this done without anyone being harmed" answered Smith. "Agreed" replied Petrofski. "Time to start our merry dance" said Smith as he gave the order to prepare for combat. Battle Fleet Omega moved into attack position and waited until the Ask'kaar warships were within the kill zone. "Wait" ordered Smith as he was stood up watching the Ask'kaar ships. "Vanguard of their force in the kill zone" reported Sydulla. "Not yet, I want them all in the kill zone" answered Smith. The rest of the Ask'kaar fleet arrived and Smith sprung his trap.

Ask'kaar communications and sensors were jammed as swarms of fighter drones knocked communications and shields. Battle Fleet Omega then decloaked and opened fire knocking out weapons and engines, "Split their fleet and slice through their formation and engage at close range, MACOs and Marines to your boarding shuttles" ordered Smith. Omega tore apart the formation of the Ask'kaar fleet as their ships were isolated and then boarded. The Ask'kaar commander struck her colours and the Ask'kaar Second fleet surrendered. "Zero casualties on both sides, the Ask'kaar commander wishes to speak with you on the fate of her troops" reported Sydulla. "Put her through" ordered Smith. "My name is Commander Pelagia, what will happen to my troops?" asked Pelagia. "They'll be well treated, my troops know what will happen to them if they harm prisoners" answered Smith. "Acceptable, you have the surrender of the Ask'kaar Second Fleet" answered Pelagia. "Your surrender is accepted" replied Smith. Battle Fleet Omega returned to the Empire and offloaded the POWs to the empress's security forces, the prize ships were sent to Terra as a gift for the Empress after they were made safe. "Back to the front and our next target, two Ask'kaar fleets down, another seven to go" ordered Smith.

Battle Fleet Omega returned to the front and liberating more subject races of the Ask'kaar in a quick blitzkrieg through the outer edges of the Ask'kaar Empire.

On Terra, Trianna's tech teams were all over the Ask'kaar ships and the Imperial scientists had a field day. In a meeting with Heath, Trianna was reviewing the latest intelligence reports and smiled. "The Ask'kaar Second Fleet just surrendered to General Smith, the general is currently running riot in the outer edges of Ask'kaar space liberating subject races" read Trianna. "He's certainly decreasing their capacity to recruit more troops, with each subject race liberated, the weaker the Ask'kaar get" replied Heath. "A move my father would do, weaken your enemy by removing their allies. General Smith's interpretation of it is more humane" answered Trianna. "Your little one is awake" replied Heath. "With Isoisa away, it's work and motherhood at the same time" answered Trianna. "You missing her?" asked Heath. "I am as are so many families with their loved ones" answered Trianna humbly. "Good answer" replied Heath. "Ma'am, what is this about your twins and jaws that left teeth marks in a Gorn?" asked Trianna.

Battle Fleet Omega, Ask'kaar Front lines (Prime)

"How many shipyards have we neutralized in the past week?" asked General Smith. "At least 24 so far boss" answered Cmdr Petrofski. "Stratregic situation?" asked Smith. "Ask'kaar outer defense lines breached, enemy forces have either been neutralized or have retreated" answered Petrofski. "Status of main advance?" asked Smith. "On schedule, with their flanks secured they've broken through the inner defenses. We should be at their home system in three weeks" answered Petrofski. "With all their bases in the outer edges of their empire dealt with, we can now start working on their main military infrastructure facilities, what's status of the Ask'Kaar fleets?" asked Smith. "Third and Second fleets wiped from the Ask'kaar order of battle, Fifth and Eighth Fleets no longer combat effective" answered Petrofski.

"No innocents lost along the whole front, I see the troops have obeyed the Empress's command fully in not harming non-combatants" replied Smith. "The Ask'kaar fleet is being ground down and captured intact" answered Petrofski. "Those ships can make good our recent losses to the Borg and Maquis, Ask'kaar troops are surrendering on masse with their elite forces still resisting" replied Smith. "News from the front, Ask'kaar forces have pulled back to their home system. Our left flank and centre advances have just disabled and captured the Ask'kaar Sixth and Ninth Fleets along with all their troops" reported Petrofski. "Excellent, that leaves the Ask'kaar First, Fourth and Seventh Fleets to deal with before we can secure the Ask'kaar home space" answered Smith. Acting on the new strategic situation, Smith ordered Battle Fleet Omega to join the main advance while attacking any Ask'kaar military facilities on the way.

Battle Fleet Omega soon arrived and linked up with the main Imperial advance and soon the Ask'kaar home system was isolated. The Ask'kaar fleets counter-attacked and the Imperials flung them back all the while capturing more enemy vessels and their crews. The Ask'kaar Fourth Fleet struck their colours and surrendered after seeing the full scale of the Imperial attack, the Seventh Fleet was also disabled and captured along their troops. For the Ask'kaar First Fleet, they were now under siege as the Imperial swarmed them and disabled their ships before capturing them before the crews could react to the speed of the Imperial blitz. The Imperial fleet now targeted the military defense emplacements and locked on, most were destroyed but others were in civilian areas towering over the buildings. Ask'kaar troops were digging in around residential and medical buildings expecting the Imperial troops to land and storm their positions.

Smith had seen enough and decided to act, after sending recon drones to record what the Ask'kaar troops were doing, he had a look at their positions and smiled. "Using a maternity hospital as a shield, how low can they get" he sighed afterwards, he then recorded all of the Ask'kaar defenses and had them sent off to the empress as proof of Ask'kaar use of living shields. Until the last defensive emplacement were dealt with, there was nothing he could do about it so he landed the infantry onto the planet surface and moved to secure ground for support and medical services. The armor was then landed and supported by mobile mechanized and airborne infantry advanced under an umbrella of Imperial air cover. The Ask'kaar ground troops blocking the Imperial ground forces tried to resist but when brought under suppression fire from the tanks and Infantry fighting vehicles, they dropped their weapons and marched out with their hands up. Smith now had a secure location to launch his strike on the capital ground emplacements, the commandos infiltrated in and took down the ground defenses with charges and then evacuated back to the fleet along with the ground forces and prisoners. The commandos also brought back proof of Ask'kaar civilians being forced to stay in their homes near the ground defenses.

Smith had the intel and proof sent to the Empress via Inquisition courier, it arrived on Heath's desk within a matter of hours.

            Bynar system mu red

The system was inert. No sign of life stirred within it's bounds. The only non-natural movement was the ISS Ohms as it approached. The Center class ship slowly glided through the system.

"It's not fair sir," Ensign Tigh complained from the helm. "The main fleet is off invading the other universe and we're here in the hind end of space."
The Betaziod captain rubbed his eyes and spoke calmly.
"We all know can't be heroes Ensign. Some of us have to work for a living."
"I fail to see what is so important about this system," science officer T'velle asked in her typical dispassionate manner.
"Several of those involved in the recent attempt on the Empress's life were from the other universe's version of that world," Capt Leval said pointing at the screen. "We're here to see if anyone down there is still alive and may have help. Or if they were all imported."
"Well that's different sir," Tigh said smiling. "Anything we can do for that babe is a pleasure."
"Ensign, did you just call the Empress, a babe?" Lt. Sharon asked from her next to him.
"When you speak of the Empress Ensign," the captain said slowly. "You will refer to her only as a total babe."
            "Yes sir."
"With all due respect sir, you two disgust me."
            "Duly noted Lt."
"Not to interrupt such intelligent conversation, but I had a momentary contact," T'velle announced.
            "Where at?" The captain asked.
"It was near the main planet. Again it was only there for a moment."
"Yes," Leval said rubbing his chin. "But there shouldn't be anything here at all... Better make sure. Helm, set a course towards this... Whatever."

Near the Bynar homeworld several large asteroids floated in orbit. Behind one of the larger ones, the USS Equinox-A sat in it's shadow.

"Did they see us?" Captain Magellan asked. His voice a harsh whisper as if they could hear him if he spoke to loud.
"Unknown," the Bolian science officer replied. "But they do seem to be headed our way."
"Damn. We may have to run for it."
"They'll spot us the moment we move," his XO countered. "We could fight..."
"Centaur vs Nova is not an even fight," the tactical officer stated. "We're a science ship, that's a cruiser. They can outrun and outgun us. Our phasers are stronger, but they have more of them. We do have better shields though."
"We can jam their sensors to prevent them from locking on until we can make it back."
"We'll have to rely on that," Magellan said resignedly. "We can't afford to be caught here. Red Alert. Helm, set course for jump point, maximum warp. Engage."

            "Warp signature detected. It's Federation."
"Pursuit course. Maximum warp. Go. Broadcast, to all Imperial ships. Unidentified Federation ship detected. Currently in pursuit. In case of others, all available ships converge on our coordinates."

            "They're on to us."
"Let's not make it easy for them. Begin sensor jamming."

"I'm losing them. They're fading from my screen."
"Don't panic. Look for the dead spot in your sweeps."

            "They're still coming."
"Signal ahead. Tell them we may have guests when we come through."

"In range. Still can't lock on to anything."
"Saturation fire into the area. Follow up any impacts with torpedoes."

            "They're firing wildly."
            "Evasive maneuvers. They're trying to..."
The Equinox rocked first under a phaser strike, then much harder under multiple phaser and torpedo impacts.
            "They found us. Damage report."
"Shields at sixty percent. They may not hold up until we reach the jump point."
            "She's a tough ship. She'll hold together."
“Sir, I have seven more ships converging on our location."
"She's not that tough," the captain sighed. "Target our main pursuer with everything we have. We have to get across the border. Begin charging deflector."

            "They are returning fire."
            The Ohms shook repeatedly.
"Their weapons are more powerful than ours. Shields at sixty percent. Minor damage to forward hull."
“Maintain fire. Close to tractor range.”

“Aft shields at twenty percent. Hull breech on deck five.”
            “Deflector charged and ready.”
“After their next salvo, we jump.”
            “If we’re still here.”

“Reading an energy build up on them, sir.”
            “What kind?”
“They are preparing for a dimensional jump.”
“There are not getting away! Prep engines for jump.”
The ship shook violently almost throwing the out of their seats.
“Forward shields have collapsed. Hull breeches on decks three through six.”
“Divert phaser power to structural integrity fields. Prepare a salvo of torpedoes. Fire as soon as we cross over.. We have to disable them and get back before we’re spotted.”

            “They stopped firing.”
            “Why?”
“Who cares? Let’s get out here. Jump!”

The Equinox’s deflector glowed brightly as a spatial rift opened in front of them. They passed through, quickly shutting it behind them.

“it worked, sir! We’re back home.”
“Good. Anyone here get our message?”
“Yes sir. I have eight warp signatures inbound. All friendly.”
            “Even better. Now we…”

The Equinox’s captain never finished that thought. Or any other ever again.

A spatial rift opened almost on top of the Equinox as the Ohms made the transition. Her starboard nacelle impacted on the Equinox’s secondary hull and tore through it. Her core ruptured instantly and the two ships were shattered in to a fireball that continue at warp for a few minutes before inertia slowed it to sunlight speed.
A burning scar stretched across space as the eight federation ships arrived. They had barely begun to investigate when the seven mirror ships crossed over. Each group sat at one end of the burning cloud.

“This is Captain Tama of the Federation Star ship Yamato. You are trespassing in our space and by the terms of agreement between our governments you will surrender.”

“This is Captain Sigan of her Empress’s war ship Ixion. One of our ships was in pursuit of one of yours that we found in our territory. I’d demand the Ohms be returned but you seem to have been a little trigger happy with her.”

“A likely story. You believe that we would violate the agreement? And those two destroyed each other before we arrived.”

“As you said, ‘a likely story’.”

“Regardless, the lot of you will stand own and be escorted to the nearest star base.”

“I don’t think so Fedrat. We’re going back to report this.”

            “I said, surrender.”

            “And I said TRIBBLE you.”

History would record the Ohms and the Equinox were destroyed that day. But they were not the only ones. Sadly, they were only the first of far too many to come.

            President’s residence
            Earth Prime

“Why did you ships cross over Layress?” Ford asked. “Seventeen ships destroyed. One surviving from each side. Why would you do this?”

“What was one of your ships doing in the Bynar system over here?” the face on the screen asked. “That’s where this all began.”

“They were checking on something related to the attempts on us earlier.”

“And you didn’t think to ask?”

“You seemed a little busy trampling and occupying the Ask’Kaar. I didn’t want to distract you from your Cardassian impression.”

“HOW DARE YOU! I am doing nothing like that to them! They capture and experiment on people like the Solanae do. I am stopping that. Nothing more. Something the Federation should have done years ago if they had been paying attention.”

I don’t dare tell her that they did know, Ford Thought. They just choose to do nothing. Hiding behind the Prime Directive.

“So what happens now?” he asked.

“We keep to our respective sides.”

“You need to pull your forces back to your side.”

            “We’re almost done.”

“We’ll handle the rest. After what just happened, the longer your forces are on this side the greater the chance for something to flare up.”

            “…”

“Think with your mind Layress, not your ego.”

“I am. I wondering how many more times will I find federation ships in places they don’t belong because it was inconvenient for you to ask.”

            “I could say the same.”

            They stared at each other.

“It was supposed to be different Michael. We were supposed to be able to trust each other.”

“You’ve changed. That place has changed you.”

“I have children. I have to make things better for them.”

            “At what cost?”

“One person’s morality is a small price to pay for a child’s future safety.”

            “Needs of the many?”

            “So to speak.”

“What happens if you’re the few?”

“I’m not the bad guy here Michael.”

            He was silent.

“The 5th and 6th fleets are enroute to the Ask’Karr territory. They will arrive in seventy two hours. I suggest that your forces not be there when they arrive.”

            “And if they are?”

“Layress, Do you really want to be remembered as the person that started a war with the Alliance?”

“Michael, if you force this, then history will remember me as the person that conquered the Alliance.”

“People don’t need to die because we can’t agree.”

“Then hold your forces for a week. We will be done and we will leave.”

            “…”

            “Well?”

“Seven days. Don’t be there when they arrive.”

            “Very well. And Michael…”

            “Yes?’

“You take your argument with me out on your wife, I’ll kill you.”

“I believe you would. Goodbye Empress.”

"Have you seen this?' Captain Sito said, handing her prime counterpart a PADD.
"Owww, spicy" Prime Sito said, approving of the information handed to her. "So close, and yet her Federation sensibilities are still holding her back."
"What should we do?" Asked the captain.
"We must provoke the Empress into attacking the Federation." Sito said, placing the PADD on the desk, pulling her prime counterpart onto her lap. "We'll need a Federation ship, a civilian target, and a large casualties list, we then send said ship into the mirror universe, have it target a few colonies and trade stations, then send it on a suicide run against an Imperial target."
Captain Sito pecked Sito on the cheek, concerned "And, if they suspect its us?"
"Why would they? You're ship is assigned to what use to be Klingon Space in this universe, Admiral Sito ... Heath, hasn't contacted you in months. Besides, if she does start to suspect." She turned on a monitor, revealing another Sito Thay, chained to the wall. "We always have her to take the fall ... Leeta wasn't the only one to master the art of jumping between dimensions."

            Ask'kaar home system (Prime)

General Smith was speaking with the Ask'kaar government on a way of ending the war, "General, is there any way of ending this war? With our fleets gone, we're defenseless" said the Ask'kaar matriarch. "Call a halt to your capturing and experimentation on other species, your military will disarm and hand over all remaining warships to us. All subject races within your empire will have full independence restored to them and all Ask'kaar civilians on those worlds will return to this system" answered Smith. "With nothing left to defend the homeworld, we have no choice but to accept those terms" replied the Ask'kaar matriarch. "Your surrender is effective immediately, tell your forces all over your empire to lay down their arms and let's end this war" answered Smith. The Ask'kaar matriarch gave the order for all Ask'kaar military units to lay down their arms, at 11am the surrender came into effect and remaining Ask'kaar military units surrendered and were disarmed.

Smith sent the empress the good news, he was recalled to Terra along with Battle Fleet Omega and it's haul of prize ships. When Omega arrived at Terra 72 hours later, the bridge crew were talking. "Boss, how would you rate the empress on her looks out of ten?" asked Leandros. "Why, what's your rating?" countered Smith. "A nine boss, smoking hot" answered Leandros. "If I was not married, I'd say a a ten, Very hot" said Isoisa. "I'm married, but if I was single, I'd say an eight answered Smith to Leandros' question. "Dexter, what about me?" asked Mereu. "A ten darling" answered Smith. "Thank you Dexter" answered Mereu. "You lot are disgusting, you know that. This is our empress you are all talking about" said Sydulla. "Correction, the hottest empress the empire has ever had" replied Tommen. "Damn right" answered Petrofski. "You lot are terrible" said Sydulla face palming. The rest of the bridge crew found this amusing. "General, your presence is requested" reported Sydulla. "Time to see the boss" answered Smith as the crew were stood down and given a rest.

In Heath's office, Smith gave his report and was briefed on recent events. "How long will it take for our forces to withdraw from Ask'kaar space?" asked Smith. "We have five days, given the Ask'kaar surrender I have just issued the withdraw order" answered Heath. "Last thing we need is a war with the Federation, it'll be ugly all round" advised Smith. "Have arrangements for all Ask'kaar pows to be repatriated been started?" asked Heath. "All pows have been sent back to the Ask'kaar home world, the pows from subject races have returned to their home worlds, they should be out of the empire in three days" answered Smith. "General, the faster we leave the Prime universe the better, we do not want to be there when the Alliance fleet arrives" replied Heath. "Ma'am" answered Smith. All Imperial ships and troops left the prime universe and returned to their universe and when the Alliance arrived, there was not a Imperial ship anywhere. Smith however got a report that Red Sito and prime Sito had escaped containment, Battle Fleet Omega was put on standby in case they acted. Trianna put her people to work and it was all hands on deck as Smith and his officers started reading any new intel. "It rains then it pours" sighed Smith afterwards.

Trianna was briefing Heath on Federation fleet movements, "ma'am, recently a Federation ship was stolen. Starfleet security managed to get a visual on the thief" she reported. "You have the image?" asked Heath. Trianna put the image up on the screen, Heath just calmly noted it down, the thief was a blonde haired Bajoran matching the description of Captain Sito Thay, "which one is it?" she asked. "According to the quantum signature, it's this universe's Sito Thay" answered Trianna. "But they're in custody" said Heath Thay. "Someone let them out, we have the access codes used and you won't like it" answered Trianna. "Who's codes?" asked Thay. "General Robert Danton, officers loyal to him assisted him" answered Trianna. "Related to the traitor Danton?" asked Thay. "They're brothers, General Danton may have provided both Red and Prime Sito with population data and resources" answered Trianna. "Which ship was taken?" asked Heath.

"According to intercepted Federation communications, the U.S.S. Shirkahr. She's an old Miranda class starship" answered Trianna. "What would they be planning?, a federation ship and population data" asked Thay. "The red and prime Sitos both hate the empress and the fact a Federation ship was stolen and they've got census data makes a false flag attack very likely" answered Trianna. "Take advantage of our tensions with the Alliance by framing us and starting a war" replied Thay thinking aloud. "It's a shot in the dark at the moment until we find hard proof" answered Trianna as Ablim woke up. Trianna picked him up carefully and sat him down on her lap, "little man is hungry" said Trianna. "Lunch break?" asked Thay. "Good idea" answered Heath. "I need somewhere private so I can feed my little one" requested Trianna. "You can use my office" answered Jasmine. "Thanks Jas" replied Trianna. Trianna went and fed her little one and rub his back afterwards. When the meeting restarted an hour later, Trianna was trying not to winch at the pain.

"Why do you look like you got bit" asked Thay. "He's got teeth coming through and he bit in a sensitive area, bottles for him now. I'll be weening him soon off milk and onto food" answered Trianna. "You'll struggle getting him to eat, it's a battle with the twins" advised Heath. After putting Ablim back into his buggy and getting him settled, the meeting was carried on.

Nathan Valdez was sat at home reading the news, since his retirement he had been keeping track of what was going on. "Joanna, how crazy is it out there?" asked Valdez, Joanna Valdez just gave a kiss and answered "tense." "The Empire invading the Ask'kaar has put everyone on edge, the fact that the Imperial fleet went out of their way to avoid harming civilians and other non-combatants is a welcome change for them" replied Valdez. "One spark and it could be war, I don't want the boys fighting. We seen what battle is like and the boys should not face that horror" answered Joanna. "The whole peace process is at risk, honey putting it bluntly the Alliance cannot afford a war with the empire" replied Valdez. "Agreed, is there a way of saving the peace process?" asked Joanna. "I helped set the ground work for the peace process, I may have to speak with both sides and try and get them to talk instead of firing on each other" answered Valdez.

"Good luck with that" replied Joanna. "Yep, the peace process needs to to hold and it's getting worse by the day" answered Valdez. That train of thought was interrupted by a call from the Mirror universe, "Hey dad, hey mom" said Trianna (red). "Trianna, how are you doing?" asked Valdez. "I'm fine dad but everything is nearly going to hell here" answered Trianna (red). "Is there a way to save the peace?" asked Joanna. "With difficulty" answered Trianna (red). "Trianna, is there a chance we can get our governments to sit down and talk before this gets out of control?" asked Valdez. "I can ask the empress" answered Trianna (red). "Thanks Trianna" replied Valdez. "Is there a way you can speak with the president?" asked Trianna (red). "I can ask the first lady, what the empress and the president both need is to discuss this crisis in a calm and rational manner with someone neutral acting as mediator" answered Valdez. "I'll raise this with the empress" replied Trianna (red). "I'll speak with the president and first lady" answered Valdez.

"Sounds like a plan" replied Trianna (red). "War has to be avoided" answered Valdez. "Agreed, why should families be torn apart needlessly?" asked Trianna (red). "Exactly" answered Joanna. "Little one needs attending to, sorry to cut this call short" replied Trianna (red). "Trianna, keep out of trouble" said Valdez. "I will dad, Trianna out" answered Trianna and the screen went blank. "Computer, put me through to the first lady" ordered Valdez. On Terra (red), Trianna (red) sent the empress a possible way of easing tensions.

The doors to the room flew open as Thay bursts into the room looking frustrated. Her anger seemingly ignored by Layress and Paris who were entertaining and playing with, Osha and Pren.

"Paris, can you keep Osha and Pren busy for a moment, I would like to talk to the Empress in the other room." Sito said. She waited for Layress to come to her.

"Have you seen this?" She said handing over a PADD before she could even speak. "I thought the Federation were smart, are they seriously trying to provoke us into attacking?" Thay said pacing back and forth.
"Three planets attacked, two freighter convoys presumed destroyed, and one of our warships, the Ravager, adrift after this ship attacked them." She touched the screen and brought up an image of what was clearly a Federation ship. "What do these people want?!"

"This isn't the work of the Federation." Layress said calmly.
                  "How can you..."
She grabbed Thay by the shoulders.
" Use that beautiful brain of yours and Think about it. You always commented about my 'federation sensibilities' and how they kept me from doing somethings. Do you think I would have done something like this? Callie would say that they don't have the guts to attack soft targets. I know both sides of the mindsets in play here. And this level of attack is Imperial. Besides Ford may be many things but a fool is not one of them. I warned him that I would conquer the alliance if he attacked. He knows I don't make idle threats. This is an old Romulan play. They used it to try and start civil war within the Klingons."

Thay took the PADD back, pausing for a few moments to think.

"These ... attacks sites aren't what I would consider soft, they're sites I had installed the first time I captured you, they were to monitor both the Badlands and the Arawath System. While they haven't been completely destroyed, if the Federation wanted to attack, now would be the ideal time ... though *ponders* I suppose it will be difficult with a large fleet parked near both points.
We've also found the remains of the Federation ship, it crashed on a moon in Antares System ... much of the ship was destroyed in the crash, but whatever my teams do find, they'll send to us immediately. We've also got ships out looking for the missing freighters."

" That's my beautiful girl," Layress said smiling. "Now the two big questions. Why and who? Whoever it turns about to be, and I sincerely doubt it's the Federation, I will crush them between the two universes."

" ... someone who wants to start a war between the Terran Empire and Federation?" Thay thought out loud. "The list is endless..."

"Meaning that any reports that we get like this we have to be suspect of. Remember the Federation likes to be subtle. Overt actions like these aren't their style, still someone's going to pay for those that were killed. I think now more than ever we need to move forward with our version of the alliance. A unified front across both universes should help deter further things."

" I suppose abducting their military leaders for questioning is out of the question?"

Layress sighed pinching her nose. "No, you can't. Although if I wanted to, I could switch places with his Heath. How better to find out info than pretending to be his wife. I'd be undetectable, we have the same quantum signature..."
" Well you could but ... you would have to cut your hair, and dye it ginger."
"Yeah I'm not doing that. Let's go. It's time we created our Alliance and warned them of any possible rouge Fed attacks."

                  Betazed Orbit (MU yellow)

Battle Fleet Omega had been ordered to Betazed (yellow), "Betazed orbital operations reports we're clear to enter orbit" reported Sydulla. "All ships, standard orbit" ordered Smith. Omega entered orbit and took up position. In his office, Smith read the reports of the rogue attacks, "This is a false flag operation ma'am" said Smith to Heavy via secure subspace. "Instinct?" asked Heath. "Experience ma'am" answered Smith. "The bases that were hit are all near our borders with the Alliance, Battle Fleet Omega is to patrol that region and find the raider. Try and capture the ship but make sure it is neutralized one way or another" replied Heath. "Ma'am, we'll need something to lure the raider out" answered Smith. "There will be a military convoy setting off from Terok Nor, Battle Fleet Omega will be it's escort" replied Heath sending Smith his orders.

"I hope the freighter captains don't mind having a cloaked escort" answered Smith. "General, that raider is your first priority, take it down" ordered Heath. "Ma'am" answered Smith. "You and your troops performed very well during the Ask'kaar war, send them my congratulations" replied Heath. "I will pass it onto them ma'am" answered Smith. "This is unusual, Doctor Mereu Smith has been nominated for an Imperial star by an Ask'kaar captain" replied Heath. "An Ask'kaar went into labor, Mereu had to be midwife. Both mother and child were healthy" answered Smith. "General, your shoot to disable policy has given the empire an edge. The Ask'kaar were a very advanced race" replied Heath. "Their former subject worlds after liberation formed an independent coalition of planets, as of now the Ask'kaar are contained to their home system and disarmed" answered Smith. "The empire now has their entire fleet as well, this swings things in our favor strategically" replied Heath. "3000 extra ships, those could make good our losses from the Dominion, Borg and Maquis overnight and still have reserves. Me and the crew are feeling really uneasy on the Bellerophon" answered Smith. "In what way?" asked Heath. "What happened with her in the past?" replied Smith.

"She was known as the I.S.S. Marie at the time, named for the last emperor's late daughter. She led a genocidal campaign when the empire under Emperor Valdez invaded the red universe's Ask'kaar. I saw what happened first hand" answered Heath. "A ship with that past is a painful reminder, I suggest scuttling her and healing this old scar" replied Smith. "General you have a go, empress out" answered Heath and the screen went blank. "Smith to crew, prepare for transport in hours with all your things. We leaving this ship" he ordered to his crew. Twelve hours alter, the crew were transported down to Betazed (yellow) along with their things and Smith piloted the Bellerophon on her final voyage and set the self destruct before leaving by shuttle after beaming his things down. Smith landed and looked up at the night sky to watch the Bellerophon explode, "Soldiers and friends, this came through from the empress. It reads, you have all performed with distinction in the war with Ask'kaar. The races you liberated from Ask'kaar rule call you liberators, to the Ask'kaar you are the Empire's wolves. Commendation citations are Lt Cmdr Isoisa Bray, for keeping the ship between the crippled I.S.S. Orion and three Ask'kaar cruiser. The Orion was able to repair and withdraw and make it back to base for repair. Lt Cmdr Bray, some excellent flying. Doctor Mereu Smith, she had to be midwife for a captured Ask'kaar in labor. She showed that even in war, she could still be neutral. These officers have shown that crazy with a dose of sanity goes a long way, signed Layress I" he said and the troops cheered.

"The I.S.S. London will be our home, she's a Presidio class so board the shuttles and have a look at the ship" he finished with. Smith and crew then flew to the London and the crew just commented on how beautiful the ship was. "She's a pretty lady I agree with you on her design" said Smith to the crew in one of the shuttles. The shuttles then docked and the London was transferred to Smith, "Time to hunt a raider" he said afterwards. The crew cheered and the London led Omega out to hunt.

                    Cardassia Sector (MU red)

Battle Fleet Omega were performing escort for a freighter convoy, what Smith had done was to take a leaf from Terra's World War I and have weapons hidden on the freighters, when the raider closes in, the freighters reveal their weapons and fire on the surprised raider. The freighters' shields were also made military grade, "Q-Ships, form up in convoy, Omega cloak and provide escort" ordered Smith from the I.S.S. London. "Convoy reports ready" reported Petrofski. "Time to catch a bandit" answered Smith and Operation Rat Catcher was started.

The convoy approached a position near the badlands when a Federation sensor contact was picked up on an intercept course. "I think we've found our raider" reported Petrofski. "Let it come closer" ordered Smith. The Federation ship got to within visual range of the convoy and started an attack run, "Q-Ships, surprise time" ordered Smith. The freighters opened a disruptor broadside on the raider as Omega decloaked and fired. The raider was disabled and captured intact, what Omega found was enough to make them wince. There was no crew and the ship was laced with enough Kemocite and matter/antimatter material to wipe out a continent. After downloading all the computer logs, the raider was taken to a location away from populated areas and disposed of in a safe manner by long range torpedo.

"Omega, good work. Convoy captains, congratulate your crews on a job well done" said Smith. "Thanks for the escort and a chance of defending ourselves" answered the convoy commander. Omega and the convoy parted ways when the next part of the convoy escort took over, Omega was back at Terra with 24 hours with a bigger puzzle to solve. "Time to report this to the boss" said Smith and he sent his report and the captured computer logs along with the documentation of the evidence.

"Oh, That annoying b*tch. She refuses to cooperate and take our bait," Prime Sito complained.
"I know. Any good captain of the Empire would be screaming for blood." Captain Sito agreed.
"Damn Starfleet training. Why can't she just give in and revel in her power like a good dictator?"
"It would make our lives so much easier."
                      "So now what?"
"...hmmm... If she won't bite, maybe the Federation will."
"What? Stage a 'retaliation attack ' in response to the imperial incursion? Neither of them will believe it."
"Of course they won't. But Ford will appear to be denying it because of Layress."
"Ah... I get it. People will demand that he do something."

                      "You better. Come here you."
There was a long passionate kiss between them.
"To think, I wanted to kill you when you poured that chocolate in my hair," Prime Sito commented. She paused for a second "... A lone Terran ship would be easier to provoke into the prime universe, we wouldn't need to remote control it, just bait a captain in, lure him to a civilian outpost and Boom ... I can forge the Admirals credentials, but it'll likely bring you into her suspicious books ... do you like Trills too? I'm thinking I'll need a disguise for awhile."

                      Imperial/Federation border

General Smith had put a blockade of both Arawath and the Badlands up, his goal was to prevent any attempts at crossing the border. "Send a warning to the Federation, keep an eye for any rogue Imperial ships. Both sides are being played here, so instead of being at each other's throats let's make sure nothing can cross through on either side" ordered Smith "Time for the blockade to form up, all ships form blockade" ordered Smith. Omega formed up and half of the ships cloaked, within the hour the I.S.S. Nassau warped in and headed for the rift. "Now" ordered Smith and Omega disabled the Nassau. Omega's veteran MACOs cleared the ship and detained the crew in the cargo bays, the senior officers were held in the brig.

Aboard the London, Smith questioned the Nassau's captain himself, "Why were you attempting to cross the border?" he asked. "I was ordered to stage a raid to frame the empire" answered Captain Thorne. "Who gave you those orders?" asked Smith. "If I told anyone, they would kill me" answered Thorne. "Captain, I can make your life really uncomfortable and technically I'm your commanding officer now so I'm ordering you to give me the name of the people who ordered you to breach the treaty?" replied Smith. "They were Bajoran, two of them" answered Thorne. "Can you describe them?" asked Smith. "Blonde hair and female, it was like seeing identical twins" answered Thorne. "Captain Thorne, thank you for your co-operation. You will have to be accountable for your actions as will some members of your crew, the rest of your crew will be given an amnesty from prosecution" replied Smith. "General, my crew were only obeying my orders. Thank you for recognizing that fact" answered Thorne. "Your crew should not suffer because of your actions, I want you to think about that because as soon as we get back to Terra, you will be dealt with by the authorities and they are not kind" replied Smith.

After being relieved, Omega jumped to Terra and Captain Thorne and his command staff were handed over to the authorities. General Danton had also been brought in, he was questioned remorselessly until he gave Smith one word, "Athena." "General, do you know what the penalty for treason is?" asked Smith. "Death" answered Danton. "Add conspiracy to commit murder and aiding and abetting enemies of the state" replied Smith. "You've got nothing on me" answered Danton. "The transfer of classified information to code name Athena, information that was used to attack Imperial civilians. That is enough to warrant the death penalty alone" replied Smith. "Go to hell" answered Danton. "Goodbye, no one will see you again. May the Empress's justice be fair" replied Smith and he left the room and set the force field around Danton's cell. Smith then sent his report to the Empress.

Acting on information gathered from questioning, Smith had decided to track the source. In a meeting with his senior captains, Smith activated a star map of what used to be Klingon space and briefed his captains, "that is our search area, in that search area we have a rogue Imperial ship, the I.S.S. Athena. Our mission is to find it and capture it before it can do any more harm." "Who's the captain?" asked Captain Dawson. "Captain Sito Thay, we also want her accomplice as well" answered Smith. "They'll hide" advised Dawson. "That's why we'll create a net to trap them" answered Smith. The gathered captains all agreed and Omega was reformed into a hunting wolfpack. Omega then crossed the former Imperial/Klingon border and fanned out. Each sector was searched from the outside in as the wolfpack converged on Qon'oS.

"What we got?" asked Smith. "It's the Imperial ninth fleet, scanning for the Athena now" reported Sydulla. "Found anything?" asked Smith. "The I.S.S. Athena, found her" reported Sydulla. "Omega, keep cloaked and surround that ship" ordered Smith to the fleet. "Fleet responds ready, we're go to go" reported Sydulla. "All ships, go go go" ordered Smith. Omega took up formation and had the ship surrounded and scanned. "It's them, their quantum signatures are of this universe and the prime" reported Sydulla. "Prepare a boarding party and disable that ship, start with their self destruct" ordered Smith.

Trianna (yellow) was panicking, the tensions between the Federation and Empire were getting to her. "Anna, have you thought about being neutral?" asked Joanna Valdez. "You would not understand" answered Trianna (yellow). "I can try and you are getting worked up about it" replied Joanna, "deep breaths Anna, let's get you calmed down first." Trianna (yellow) took deep breaths and calmed herself down before she told Joanna what the problem was. "Your sister and wife both told me you needed someone to talk to, I know I'm not your mother but let me try. Being neutral in times of conflict takes greater strength than taking sides" said Joanna to Trianna (yellow) advising her not to worry about what is going on outside the house. "I was trained to fight like all Terran youth growing up, any weakness was not tolerated at all from my father and he was liberal with the booth on me every time I stepped out of line" answered Trianna (yellow). "A brutal childhood, that's not good" replied Joanna.

"I envy my sister, I wish I had this version of dad as a father growing up" answered Trianna (yellow). "Your past keeps holding you back, isn't it time you let go of it?" asked Joanna. "I shall endeavor to do that, thanks for the talk mom" answered Trianna (yellow). "That's what I'm here for, same with your father. Speaking of your father, he's got a surprise for all of the family" replied Joanna. When Joanna and Trianna (yellow) went into the lounge, they all were awe inspired by what Valdez and Ablim Snr had done, they had between the two of them decorated the house, the little ones were amazed at all the different lights and colors as the twins played with them and entertained them.

Battle Fleet Omega had the Athena surrounded, the Athena's self destruct and engines were disabled first then their communications as the ship was boarded. Omega MACOs and commandos cleared the ship deck by deck as they detained the crew, when they got to the bridge, both Prime and Red Sito tried to fight them off but were stunned and captured along with the senior officers. Most of the crew surrendered to the Omega troops and some holdouts had to be given heavy stuns before they were dragged to the cells. In the brig, Omega commandos found a third Sito chained to the wall. "Which one is this?" asked Smith. "The quantum signature is nothing we've seen before" reported Tommen Paris. "Release her, maybe she can give us some answers to what is going on" ordered Smith. Sito Thay was released and moved to the London's sickbay under heavy guard.

"Set course for Terra, looks like there are more questions instead of answers" sighed Smith as the report to the empress was sent off by secure courier.

Battle Fleet Omega were back on blockade duty, since the capture of the red and prime Sito Thays, Smith had them in his cells so he could keep an eye on them. In sickbay aboard the London, Smith went to speak with the Sito Thay recovered from the Athena. "Where am I?" asked Sito. "You're aboard an Imperial warship, the London" answered Smith. "Who are you?" asked Sito. "General Dexter Smith" answered Smith. "Why am I here?" asked Sito. "You were found chained to a wall, do you remember how you got here?" answered Smith with a question of his own. "I was on patrol, all I remember was a flash of light and I woke up here" replied Sito. "Where are you from?" asked Smith. "The Terran Empire, what reality is this?" answered Sito with her own question.

"A reality where history was changed" replied Smith. "No Iconian War?" asked Sito. "They were wiped out 200,000 years ago by an Admiral Leeta" answered Smith. "I need to get back to my Terran Empire" replied Sito. "That will be difficult, you're stranded here but we'll find a way home if you can help us" answered Smith. "General, I've told you all I know. I need to be back in my Empire" replied Sito. "One thing at a time, you need to recover" answered Smith. "General, thank you for the rescue" replied Sito. "Bridge to General Smith, we have bad news. The Imperial tenth fleet has broken off from it assigned sector and is advancing towards us" said Petrofski over a secure com channel. "Thank you Mario, I'm on my way up" replied Smith as he left the sickbay. On the Battle Bridge of the London, Smith watched the advance of the Imperial tenth fleet and sent the tenth fleet's commander a message to return to their assigned sector. The Imperial tenth fleet's commander refused to obey the order and prepared his fleet to break the blockade between them and the Federation border.

Smith sent a secured message to Terra, "Imperial Tenth Fleet has gone rogue, I repeat they have gone rogue. They are heading to the Federation border, Omega is mounting a blockade to stop them from getting through." On the Federation side of the border, TF-113 watched the situation very carefully. "Imperial forces have put up a blockade on their side of the border" reported R'Shee to Admiral Heath. "What direction is the blockade facing?" asked Heath. "They're pointed towards their own territory, they've put themselves between us and the Imperial tenth fleet" reported R'Shee. "Who's the blockade commander?" asked President Ford via subspace. "It's Battle Fleet Omega on that blockade, General Dexter Smith" answered R'Shee. "He's a good man, his troops were excellent during the recent Maquis crisis" added Captain McBrocken. "That blockade is the only thing preventing a war between us and the Empire, Micheal it's time we spoke with the empress on working together with the empire on resolving these tensions peacefully" said Heath.

"We better hope that blockade holds" answered Ford.

Trianna and Isoisa were playing with the little one when news came through, Omega had put itself in harm's way again to protect the treaty between the empire and the Alliance. "Trianna, have I caught you at a bad time?" asked Heath via secure channel. "I'll keep the little one entertained, you're needed by the sounds of it" said Isoisa. "Thanks, later will be fun" answered Trianna smiling at Isoisa. "I look forward to it" replied Isoisa giving Trianna a quick kiss as she took the little one into his playroom. "I need you to do some digging for me" asked Heath. "Who on?" asked Trianna. "The admiral in charge of the tenth fleet and his captains" answered Heath. "I'll find that information, General Smith may need all the help he can get on that blockade. He's the only thing preventing both Imperial and Alliance forces from clashing, he's made it very clear that he will disable both sides to prevent war" replied Trianna.

"He would, no doubting that" answered Heath. "We need someone neutral to mediate this dispute" suggested Trianna. "Who do you have in mind?" asked Heath. "My father's prime counterpart, he's a teacher these days and is totally neutral" answered Trianna. "An odd choice considering what happened with his mirror counterparts" replied Heath. "The only reason the Empire and the Alliance are not at war is because of the armistice and treaty signed by both governments, dad put those seeds in place to create peace and these tensions are threatening that peace. There's a reason dad is known as Peacemaker" answered Trianna. "I may have to contact him, maybe a neutral arbitrator might help" replied Heath. "It would not hurt to try" advised Trianna. "Trianna, get that information for me" ordered Heath. "Ma'am" answered Trianna. "Use all resources available to you, Empress out" replied Heath and the screen went blank.

Trianna was briefing the empress via secure subspace on the situations on the Imperial/Alliance borders, "That information you asked for, the Imperial tenth fleet's commander is an Admiral Huron Blackstone. The words xenophobic, zealot and fanatic come to mind, he's infamous for the extermination of the Imperial colony world of Turkana IV after a rebellion 15 years ago. Very dangerous and will fire on fellow imperials without even thinking about it, if he rushes that blockade then we may be looking at war with the Alliance" said Trianna. "Get that information to General Smith and tell he has permission to shoot to kill if he has to" ordered Heath. "Information sent on secure channel, update of Admiral Heath Layress's blockade of the Awarath rift has just arrived, Arawath is secured and under loyalist control" replied Trianna.

"Excellent" answered Heath smiling. "Wait, news coming through from the Badlands. The Imperial tenth fleet has a formed a battle line" replied Trianna sending Heath the updates. At the Badlands, Smith had got the news. "Looks like Admiral Blackstone wishes to force the issue" he noted to Cmdr Petrofski. "That means that they may come in firing" answered Petrofski. "Let's make sure the tenth fleet finds out what happens when you attack Battle Fleet Omega" replied Smith, "All ships, battle stations." Battle Fleet Omega formed a battle line and awaited tenth fleet's advance. "We may have to fire on Imperial vessels, those captains are traitors following a lunatic. Let's put the lunatic out of his misery" said Smith to the entire fleet.

                                Battle of the Badlands Blockade

Omega and the tenth fleet were now facing each other, "Admiral Blackstone is hailing us" reported Sydulla. "Put him through" ordered Smith. "General Smith, why do you loyally serve that thing on the throne?" asked Blackstone. "She's the boss, a fact you should accept" answered Smith. "Aliens and Fedrats have no place ruling the empire, the empire should be Terrans only and other races working as slaves for the Terran master race, you are in the way of tradition" replied Blackstone. "If you want to get to the rift, you have to go through me first" answered Smith and then he cut the channel. Blackstone gave the order for the tenth fleet to advance, at 1400 hours Terra time the first shots were fired. "Target weapons, communications and engines, cyber teams are to bring their shields down" ordered Smith. Omega carried out the order and returned fire with pin point precision, the leading edges of the tenth fleet were disabled as the tenth fleet deployed it's cruisers, battleships and dreadnought to clear the blockade, Omega replied with volley after volley disabling ship after ship but the tenth fleet still carried on it's advance.

"He's trying to force us to move" noted Smith watching the battle, "Hold your ground." Omega kept their battle line all the while maintaining disciplined volleys of fire at the tenth fleet. On the Alliance side of the border, the battle was being watched with great interest as the Alliance defenders prepared their forces at Antares to intercept anything coming through. On the battlefield itself, Smith's line was holding as the tenth fleet increased pressure but the line did not break as more Imperial ships entered the system led by the Los Lobos at the head of a relief force and at 2200 hours linked up with Omega. Admiral Blackstone disengaged and ordered a retreat but was soon cut off from retreat as the remaining ships of the tenth fleet were disabled and then captured along with the rest. The captains had taken the easy route out and taken their own lives with phaser pistols to avoid capture, Blackstone also took the easy way out and shot himself to avoid being taken alive. When the tenth fleet's ships were boarded their crews handed over the senior officers to Smith's troops. The blockade had held but at a cost, Omega had lost fourteen ships in the fighting but their crews had managed to evacuate before their cores went critical, tenth fleet lay disabled in front of the blockade.

"Ma'am, we held" said Smith via subspace. "General, excellent defense of that blockade" answered Heath congratulating Smith and his crews on a job well done.

General Smith put his crew to attention when the empress came aboard via shuttle due to the proximity of the rift. "Honor guard, attention!! snapped Smith as the boarding ramp came down. "Ma'am, welcome aboard the London" said Smith as him and his officer bowed and then saluted. "General Smith, anywhere we can talk in private?" asked Heath. "My office, follow me" answered Smith as he signaled his guard to work with the Imperial Guard. In Smith's office, Heath got to business, "Admiral Blackstone's actions nearly caused disaster, General there are those who want to destroy me" said Heath. "Admiral Blackstone may only be the beginning, both Sito Thays may have turned others as well" answered Smith. "Where are they?" asked Heath. "I put them in stasis so they cannot do anything harmful, we did recover another Sito Thay" answered Smith. "From your report, her quantum signature is unknown" replied Heath.

"Which is only causing more questions than answers" answered Smith. "Most troubling" replied Heath, "these tensions between the Empire and the Alliance could lead to war, I have been advised to seek a neutral mediator by Col Bray." "Who did she have in mind?" asked Smith as he poured two cups of tea, one Terran and one Bajoran and passed one to Heath. "Admiral Nathan Valdez (ret)" answered Heath. "Trianna is a smart one, I served under Admiral Valdez during the Dominion War. Very honorable though he's retired" replied Smith, "Ma'am, with respect given recent events with his counterpart, maybe it's time wounds got healed" he suggested afterwards. "Are you being neutral?" asked Heath. "I am, we have to protect the peace" answered Smith. "Not many share that sentiment" replied Heath. "No point in a senseless war, too many people die or are maimed. I cannot morally support a war that could bring grief to families on both sides" answered Smith with his brutal honesty. "Thank you for your honesty on the matter, I need to speak with the Sito Thay in your sickbay" replied Heath. The meeting was interrupted by a call, "General, there's a call for you and it's from the Alliance" reported Sydulla. "I'll take it in my office" answered Smith and the call was redirected.

"President Ford, this is unexpected" said Smith. "Empress, we need to discuss a way of easing tensions. We recently monitored a battle on your side of the border" said Ford to Heath. "Dealing with a traitor" answered Heath, "you can thank the General here for preventing war by mounting his blockade." "General, do you support war?" asked Ford. "Not in the slightest" answered Smith, "it would be pointless to both sides." "I request a neutral mediator be assigned to work out our problems" said Heath. "Agreed" answered Ford. "Mr Valdez, he helped create the peace so he will be an ideal choice to mediate our problems" replied Heath. "I'll put the call through, we have to deal with this diplomatically, as your General has pointed out, a war would be pointless for both sides" answered Ford. "Agreed Micheal, someone is playing both sides against each other" replied Heath. "Something to discuss then, Ford out" answered Ford and the screen went blank. "I need Omega back at Terra, our Benthan allies have agreed to man the blockade along with Admiral Barclay's forces" said Heath. "Ma'am, my troops need rest" answered Smith. "Have Omega be ready to move" ordered Heath.

Heath then left aboard her shuttle and Battle Fleet Omega and the Royal Fleet left the Badlands just the relief ships arrived. At he palace on Terra later that day, Heath gathered her staff together.

"Mr Valdez, caught you at a bad time?" asked Ford. "Not at all" answered Valdez as Joanna and the girls got home from a shopping trip and got the little ones out of their buggy and put them into their high chairs. "Good day at work?" asked Joanna. "Indeed" answered Valdez giving Joanna a kiss. "Mr President" she said afterwards. "Nathan, you've been request by name. Can you mediate talks between the Federation and the Empire?" asked Ford. "Who requested mediation?" asked Valdez. "The empress, she feels that you are qualified to mediate given you got both sides to make their peace" answered Ford. "She does not exactly like me me at the moment given what my counterpart did" replied Valdez.

"You're neutral, that's why you were requested" answered Ford. "I'll mediate but I'll be very blunt about it to both sides" replied Valdez. "That is what is needed, You're going to Antares. Captain Valdez, I need the Cairo there as well" answered Ford. "Nathan, you can travel with me. Mr President, the Cairo will be there" said Joanna.

After docking at Antares, the crew of the Cairo were given a few hours off as Nathan and Joanna Valdez went to the conference room. Everyone took their seats as Heath's face appeared on the viewscreen. "Representatives of the Alliance, we are here to deal with tensions with the Terran Empire" said Ford. "The Empire seeks to avoid war with the Alliance" said Heath. "Let's the talks begin" said Ford. At first, tempers were were hot but Valdez keeping calm asked both Ford and Heath to keep it civil, "Mr President, Empress, let's keep this civil please." "All this started with a skirmish near Bynar in both our realities, members of the Alliance please study the reports of this engagement" said Ford. "What was a Federation ship doing in the MU in the first place?" asked Joanna.

"A black box of sorts was recovered, they were investigating the attempt of the President and Empress" answered Heath. "That's a breach of treaty" replied Joanna. "It is, was this authorized Mr President?" asked Valdez. "It wasn't" answered Ford. "Both sides are being played, someone or groups want war" said Heath. "Empress, what evidence do you have to back up your claim?" asked Ford. "I've sent you the report" answered Heath. Valdez read it and after cross referencing known drone ship incidents, he had something to say about it, "The Romulans tried to spark a war between Tellar and Andoria via drone ship in the mid 22nd century, instead of fighting, it led to the first Coalition of Planets and a united front. Empress, Mr President, maybe it's time you both united as allies to protect the peace." "Giving the Ask'kaar their fleet back would be a start as would restoring their empire" said Ford.

"You know what they do to other races, they will remain without a fleet to protect them and their former subject races have had their independence recognized by the Empire" answered Heath. "They've been reduced to a pre-warp civilization" replied Ford. "Then they should have not been experimenting on other races" answered Heath. "Tempers, cool it both of you please. What ever the Ask'kaar did is now in the past. Let's look to the future. A war would be pointless for both sides, people would die on both sides needlessly. Both of you need to step back from the brink and listen, do you both want something that would affect thousands of families in a profound way?" asked Valdez. "Mr Valdez has a point, instead of being at each other's throats, let's reratify the treaty and reaffirm the Neutral Zones at the Badlands and Arawath" said Heath. "Empress, that would be a start" answered Ford. After much deliberation, the Treaty of Terra was expanded into the Antares Accords, the treaty was signed by both sides and the Neutral Zone was reestablished. In the treaty, any Imperial ships illegally in Alliance space were to be dealt with by the Alliance and any Alliance ship in Imperial space illegally was to be dealt with by the Empire.

After the meeting, the Cairo set a course back to Earth. The ship arrived safely both Nathan and Joanna Valdez went home to have a quiet evening to themselves. When they got home, they just relaxed just as the twins got back in with the little ones, "You two look stressed out" said Trianna (Prime). "How was it?" asked Trianna (yellow). "Stressful" answered Joanna. "Rewarding" added Valdez. "

Smith family home, Terra (MU red)

When Smith got home, he checked on his hounds and Attila, after feeding them and keeping order in the pack he went and got cleaned up and changed. "Well fought, I was on the Los Lobos during the battle" said Jasmine smiling. "Firing on Imperial ships was a decision I did not take lightly" answered Smith. "Dexter, why don't you forget about work?" asked Mereu. "I've got a week off, darling, I'm all yours for the week" answered Smith smiling. "Good because we're going on a couple retreat for the weekend, you, me and no work to distract you" replied Mereu smiling. "Have fun you two and keep out of trouble" siad Jasmine smiling as her date arrived and knocked on the door. Smith answered it and was surprised at who it was, "Mario, shore leave?" asked Smith.

"Indeed, is Jasmine home?" answered Petrofski. "She is, come in" replied Smith as he let Petrofski in. "Mario, good to see you" said Jasmine as she gave Petrofski a kiss. "Jasmine, beautiful as always" answered Petrofski. "Mario, that's my sister you're dating so make sure she's safe" said Smith. "Dexter, stop worrying about me" replied Jasmine. "I'll make sure she's safe, you have my word as a friend" said Petrofski. "Thanks Mario" replied Smith. Meanwhile Mereu had gone upstairs and soon called Smith up, when Smith entered the marital chambers, he was called over and Mereu remotely locked the door for their privacy.

At the Valdez farm, Nathan Valdez was sat in the garden with Joanna Valdez. "Nathan, have you considered a career as a diplomat?" asked Joanna. "How so?" countered Valdez. "I observed a totally calm and neutral handling of a high stress meeting, hopefully that's tensions gone and war avoided" answered Joanna. "Time will tell but both sides have to realize that war is not the answer in dealing with tensions" replied Valdez just as the twins arrived home with the little ones. "Hey dad, hey mom" said Trianna (yellow). "Anna, how was your day?" asked Valdez. "Crazy, Teanna Jane threw a temper tantrum because I told her no chocolate and Ablim Jnr decided he was going to be as noisy as possible" answered Trianna (prime). Valdez just laughed, "not funny dad, Teanna Jane needs to learn that I want, I get does not work" said Trianna (prime). "With Isoisa and Ablim away on active service, we've been dealing with the little ones" added Trianna (yellow).

"Trianna, how the physiotherapy?" asked Valdez. "Really hard, I just have to accept I won't be able to fully walk again" answered Trianna (prime). "How so?" asked Joanna. "I have a hard time maintaining balance" answered Trianna (prime). "Don't give up on your dream of walking with your little ones, when you set your mind to do something, you've never given up" advised Valdez. "Trianna, your father has a point, challenge yourself and you can do this" added Joanna. "If you need help, just ask us" said Valdez. "Thanks dad, thanks mom, I'll aim to beat this" replied Trianna (prime). "Need help with the little ones?" asked Valdez. "Please" answered Trianna (prime). "Time for us to be grandparents" said Joanna as she and Valdez came inside and helped the twins with the little ones.

While the twins were sorting out the little ones' meal, Valdez and Joanna were entertaining the little ones and trying to teach them shapes and reading to them. "Mom and dad have had an effect on the little ones, they're behaving" noted Trianna (prime) to Trianna (yellow). "But for how long?" asked Trianna (yellow). "No idea" answered Trianna (prime).

Imperial Palace infirmary, Terra (MU red)

Sito Thay woke up in a room under heavy guard when Trianna walked in, "leave us" she ordered to the guards. "Where am I?" asked Sito. "You're on Terra, you're in a safe place" answered Trianna as she tried to put Sito at ease. "I have to get back to my Terran Empire" replied Sito. "Why the hurry?" asked Trianna, Sito just sighed and answered "In my Terran Empire, it's on the point of collapse. We got into a war with another version of the Federation, both sides were broken by the war and now the empire in my reality is falling apart" answered Sito. "Who's the ruler in your reality?" asked Trianna. "Empress Molly O'Brien I" answered Sito. Trianna was noting all this down for her report before asking "Am I around in your reality?" Sito answered "you're still alive, your father tried to mount a coup but he failed, him and his wife were killed on the orders of Empress O'Brien, you were smuggled out before you could be executed, your mother was not so lucky and was executed in front of your father before he was executed. You serve on my ship under a new name and appearance for your own safety."

"Interesting" noted Trianna. "Colonel Bray, she needs to rest, can you carry this on later?" asked the royal doctor. "Captain Sito, we can carry this on later" said Trianna. "Colonel, I'll tell you all you need to know but not at the moment" answered Sito. "Doctor, make sure she's safe. If she is harmed in any way, I hold you responsible" ordered Trianna to the doctor. "Ma'am" answered the doctor. Now Trianna turned her attention to Red and Prime Sito. In the cells, she had them both brought out of stasis and secured in a very secure location under the guard of Imperial inquisition guards. She then waited until both Red and Prime Sito were awake after being cuffed to the walls by their arms and legs, "what am I going to do about you two?" she asked both Sitos in the cells. "We are not going to say a word" said Red Sito. "I don't need words, co-operate and you will not be harmed too much, refuse and you are both in a world of pain" replied Trianna as she increased the temperature in the cell holding prime and red Sito.

"You two no longer exist, that means I can do whatever the hell I want to you both. Captain Sito do you know the penalty for treason?" said Trianna. "Death, kill me now so I don't have to speak to you mongrel" answered Red Sito. "Computer, raise temperature to 40 degrees celsius and add some humidity" ordered Trianna. Red Sito now was feeling the burn as she started showing signs of heat exhaustion, "How many more admirals have you both turned?" asked Trianna in her usual cold and calm manner. "No comment" answered Prime Sito. Trianna just raised the temperature and humidity in Prime Sito's cell before getting back to her questioning. After hours of exposure to extreme heat, Red Sito was the first to break followed by Prime Sito, Trianna had got the information she was after. The admirals in charge of the Third fleet and Sixth fleet had defected to the rebellion against Heath. The information was sent straight to Heath's desk.

Trianna then went home and got to her motherly duties, Isoisa had noticed a Trianna was in a good mood, "you look like you had fun" she said to Trianna. "Breaking traitors is a becoming a hobby" answered Trianna laughing, "Hows my little one been?" "A little angel" answered Isoisa. The Brays then entertained and read to the little one some old Terran nursery rhymes.

Trianna was speaking with Sito Thay in a secure installation when she found something unusual, the same quantum signature was also detected on the eastern fringe of Imperial space. Battle Fleet Omega was dispatched to investigate, they arrived in their search area began scan. What they found were a convoy of civilian ships escorted by warships, they matched the Sito Thay's quantum signature. General Smith noted that they were damaged when he got a hail from the unidentified fleet, "Unknown vessels, identify yourselves" request the officer in charge of the fleet. "General Dexter Smith, commanding officer of the Imperial Battle Fleet Omega, It's considered polite to introduce yourself" answered Smith. The other commander's face appeared onscreen and answered "Commander Anna Wray, acting commanding officerof the remains of the Imperial First Fleet, your ships do not look Imperial General."

"Cmdr, you are in a different reality, how did you get here?" asked Smith. "Where's Captain Sito?" asked Cmdr Wray. "Somewhere safe, we found her on a ship we searched" answered Smith. "Interesting, I need to see her" replied Cmdr Wray. "Not possible, she's resting as we speak" answered Smith. "As long as she's being well looked after, I was given instructions from her to protect the survivors of my Terran Empire" replied Cmdr Wray. "Your captain mentioned something about your empire collapsing" answered Smith. "The war with the Federation crippled us, the Borg finished it off. The ships you see are all that is left of my Terran Empire, my instructions were to get as much survivors out of my empire's reality along with any military assets we could save" replied Cmdr Wray. "How do I know you are not deceiving us?" asked Smith. "We're not, we need aid and new home where we can survive and flourish" answered Cmdr Wray.

"I would have to clear this with the empress, she'll require evidence first" replied Smith. "Agreed" answered Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, keep your forces outside of Imperial territory. We would not want any incidents" replied Smith. "General, you are reasonable" answered Cmdr Wray. "I'll put the call through, Smith out" replied Smith and the screen went blank. "Keep crews at yellow alert" ordered Smith. "Boss" answered Cmdr Petrofski. Smith went to his office and sent his report to the Empress. For now Battle Fleet Omega and the Imperial remnant kept to the terms agreed, Sito Thay was made aware that her fleet had been found and she sighed a breath of relief.

Imperial border, Nimbus sector (MU red)

General Smith had opened negotiations with the Imperial Remnant, "We've got a signal from Terra" reported Sydulla. "Put it through" ordered Smith. Sito Thay's face appeared on screen and asked to be put through to Cmdr Wray, "Captain, good to see you alive and well. The crew were concerned when you disappeared" said Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, you carried out my instructions. How many did we get out of the former empire?" asked Sito. "50,000 civilians and 8000 military personnel ma'am, I've kept the fleet at yellow alert as has this empire's fleet to avoid any incidents" reported Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, work with them, I'm going to request asylum for us in this empire" ordered Sito. "We have no reason to trust them" answered Cmdr Wray. "Caution understood, we can trust them, they saved my life and as a debt of gratitude we're going to join their empire" replied Sito.

"I've got supply issues here, 58,000 people and dwindling resources to support them" answered Cmdr Wray. "General Smith, we request humanitarian aid. We have civilians who need assistance" asked Sito. "Captain, we'll provide supplies and medical assistance" answered Smith as he authorized arrangements to be made for aiding the Imperial remnant. The damage they had sustained had taken it's toll as the damaged ships were fast becoming uninhabitable. Smith had all the remnant ships evacuated and their crews and passengers transferred to Battle Fleet Omega as the remnant ships had to be abandoned and destroyed. In the London's sickbay, Cmdr Wray was speaking with General Smith, "Thank the gods for sparing my baby sister and my little one, Doctor how are they?" asked Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, let's find, I need to run a few scans on them" answered Mereu. "I know, standard procedure. Maria, I need you to be brave for the nice doctor, can you do that?" asked Cmdr Wray to her baby sister. "Yeah" answered Maria as she was distracted by a toy while Mereu ran her scans.

"Considering what she's been through, she's being well behaved. She's healthy and at the right level of development for a two year old infant and she's a very brave patient" reported Mereu after finishing her scans, "Maria, well done for being brave" she said afterwards to a smile from Maria as she began her scan of Cmdr Wray's little one. "Cmdr, your little one is fine" reported Mereu afterwards. "There's times I've had to go hungry just to make sure those two are fed" said Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, you're healthy but you need to be eating full meals from now on" replied Mereu as she scanned Cmdr Wray. "Thank you doctor" answered Cmdr Wray. "Cmdr, I'm just doing my job" replied Mereu. "All life is scared" answered Cmdr Wray. "Agreed" replied Mereu. "A lesson learnt through experience" answered Cmdr Wray. "All ships, prepare for jump" came an order over the intercom as Omega jumped to Terra. Sito was reunited with her former empire's survivors and sent her request for asylum and offer to serve this empire as a debt of honor.
