For the Mirror Universe creators

Hey guys,
Foundry might be down but that doesn't stop ideas flowing and I've started planning out an episodic series based in the Mirror Universe.

I've been looking into all the lore I can find on the mirrorverse and it's got me wondering how other creators do their stories for their missions as I know info on the mirror is relatively slim.

Do you just write it as it comes? Plan a backstory and try to keep a coherent, sort of head-canon or maybe a combination of both?
And further, are you apart of a group that shares ideas or do you just solo it all the way?

Also, side thing, does anyone have a guide on how to make a fed ship look terran? All I can find online are the uniform sliders

    For my Mirror Wars missions I have a theme for each then have each mission in said series fit into that theme;

    Mirror Wars 1: Return to the Mirror Universe.

    Taking place after the original Cryptic Mirror missions, you take on the role of one of the surviving captains from O'Brien's invasion. You battle against foes from the prime universe as you make your way to Tholian space.

    Mirror Wars 2: Two Terran Empires

    The new Terran Empire (red hull) comes into contact with the old Terran Empire (yellow hull)

    Mirror Wars 3: Return of the Terran Empire

    This one deals with the after effects of the Temporal Cold War from the Terran Empires perspective. Leeta abandoned the other guys at the battle of Procyn V, and they've come seeking revenge against the Terran Empire across different points in the MU timeline.

    -

    Mission development: With the first two, I made it up as I went along, three I wanted to explain how the Terran Empire returned (which was one headache after another when time travel is involved)

    Most of it's solo, but occasionally I'll ask other people on ideas to see if they can understand what I'm trying to do.

    -

    Ship: Your best bet is to inform the player they're taking on the role of their mirror counterpart - they may have their own ideas on how their mirror ships would look.

    That said the Virgo hull is the best for a mirror look a like ship. Or of course the T5-U Mirror ships themselves.

    You can use the mirror skins on the T6 Sovereigns and Prometheus class ships (both C-Store and fleet) if you unlocked the mirror skins for them as well.

      Cheers guys - thanks for the advice about the ships, its always good to know and yeah thanks Thay, I was thinking I'd mention in the notes that Virgo is the best fit but its entirely up to the player.
      I mostly wanted to know for personal use and just encase there's not much variance for the Red Terran ships on the Foundry, since its been at least a few years since I touched it and don't remember too well.

      It is interesting to hear how other people approach the story, hats off to you for Mirror 3, that must've been horrid to write, especially with the Triumvirate popping in to TRIBBLE with things... and then all that talk about the multiple empires and... how about next time you let us just kill everyone and ride off into the sunset with now Empress Sito Thay?

      For me; whenever I write something I like to have a good, detailed plan about where its headed from the get-go, otherwise I have a tendency to go off the rails and it all just goes south. Hence why I dropped my first Foundry attempt, thing was all over the place.

      With this project I want to do a story based entirely in the Mirror with little to no interaction with the Prime (forget those Fed cowards!), so I was thinking I'd need as much canon as possible... which isn't as easy as I'd anticipated, apparently Leeta failed to tell us everything she knows about her Universe during her multiple invasions... useless Bajoran!

        Yeah I already looked there haha, thanks though, it's a good reference point but I meant more the canon of the years since the Empire came back.
        Like, who they conquered/re-conquered, what species are still around etc.

        I expect I'll just have to use some artistic licence here and there

        It's a unknown part of the new empire's history. You may have to be creative on this

          Depends on how you want to look at it.

          For mine, I've tried to adapt both the old and new Cryptic Terran themed missions into the story, then just assumed what would likely happen based on what we've been doing.

          I use Memory Beta more for ideas, granted not all of it's canon, but some of the material is more thought provoking.

          I.E.

          (Yellow = Pre Season 10 (?) Terran Empire w/ yellow hull)
          (Red = After Season 10 Terran Empire w/ red hull)

          -Mirror Wars Timeline-

          * (Y) Terran Empire under Captain O'Brien invades - Old Cryptic Missions.
          * I.S.S. Stadi is destroyed closing all the portals to the MU (Y).

          * (Y) Mirror Wars 1

          * (Y) Terran Empire returns now lead by Admiral Sito.
          * Mirror Iconian War
          - Admiral Leeta goes back in time, killing the Iconians, creating her own parallel version of the MU (R).
          * (R) New Cryptic Terran Missions.
          * Admiral Sito losses contact w/ the Terran Empire (Y) and is captured by the Ask'kaar Republic.

          * (R) Mirror Wars 2

          *Terran Empire (R) detect a Terran signal and send a ship to investigate.
          * Admiral Sito (Y) meets the Terran Empire (R)
          * Red Terran Empire locate the remains of the Yellow Terran Empire.
          * Infighting in the Red Terran Empire suggests Admiral Leeta is not Captain Leeta and is in fact from the Y MU.
          * The future Federation (Galactic Union) try to assassinate Admiral Sito, assisted by the Krenim and Terran Triumvirate, Sito becomes aware of the Temporal Cold War.
          * (R) Temporal Cold War
          - Admiral Leeta leads the Terran Empire (R) into the Battle of Procyn V. Later abandoning the battle leaving the Krenim, Sphere Builders and ... someone else to be slaughtered by the good guys.
          - Krenim survivirs from the battle decide to take revenge on Admiral Leeta, however unable to find them, switch to target the Terran Empire. (Believing had they not been at the battle, the Temporal Liberation Front, may have won.)

          * Mirror Wars 3

          - Admiral Sito, now aware of the battle, distracts the player long enough to fake her death, assisted by the Tholians, now in command of the I.S.S. Enterprise C (yellow) launches her own mission.
          - In which she discreetly informs the Terran Empire (Yellow) of the ENT era to prepare for the coming fall of the Terran Empire.
          - Sito spends the next year (from her perspective) tracking down and eliminating threats from the TLF across the MU's (Y) timeline.
          - During one of these threats, Sito kills her own mother, alerting her adoptive mother to the temporal shenanigans.
          - The Terran Empire w/ the Tholian Assembly have been building a massive fleet in secret on Nukara Prime's moon. In 2390, the fleet launches, destroying the much of the Cardassian-Klingon Alliance.
          * The Second Terran Empire (Y Terran Empire) is formed with Empress Keiko O'Brien leading the new Terran state.
          - Sito discreetly leaves a message for the new Empress with details on what will happen, and when.
          * Empress O'Brien eventually loses the throne to Empress Papela Lot (Y) who passes the throne to Empress Heath Layress (Prime-variation)

          I've been myself dealing with the Mirror Universe in my own series (Delta Mirror), although the Terran Empire isn't represented in it, nor any of the alpha and beta quadrant powers.

          What i did is imagining what could possibly be a Mirror version of the Delta Quadrant as it is presented in Voyager. However, since there is no canon "Mirror" material in the Voyager series, I just trusted my instinct to come up with an alternate Delta Quadrant where everything would be at the same time familiar and different.

          ==SPOILER ALERT==

          The Kobali Sovereignty : a quadrant-wide militaristic superpower that is bent on conquering other races, and genetically altering their representatives to transform them into Kobali, in order to perpetuate their own species. They worship a god-like figure known as the Purveyor, and envision themselves as his heralds, tasked with the sacred duty of bringing His Truth to the whole quadrant, and the galaxy beyond.

          The Vaadwaur Diaspora : remnants of the Vaadwaur species, a once peaceful and advanced race that was all but wiped out by the Sovereignty when they were invaded and refused to surrender. They now survive as nomads aboard a vetust fleet.

          Talaxian Marauders : after destroying their home planet through neglect and near-sightedness centuries ago, the Talaxians now exist as petty space pirates who live on asteroid bases, and raid civilian convoys for riches.

          The Kazon Sodality : an aggressive species of warriors that travel the quadrant and prey on anybody else they encounter. Unlike the Kazon from the primary universe, Mirror Kazon are organized, and a threat not to be taken lightly.

          The Malon Cartel : a potent corporation that is specialized in the transport and dumping of Theta radiation waste. The Mirror Malon are straightforward criminals, compared to their benign, if ecologically irresponsible counterparts from the prime universe. They have no regard for the well-being of whoever is occupying the places they elect as dumping sites, and do not shy away from combat if they have to claim them by force.

          ==END OF SPOILER=
