The Simulation Channel deserves some recognition

For those of you who do not know, some players came together and started an in-game chat channel for players to coordinate the colony simulations. (Type /Channel_join "Simulation" in the chat bar to join) This has rapidly become an essential resource for players. I just think these folks deserve some recognition for their contribution to the game and the community. What do y'all think?

I think most chat channels done by players are done freely for the community.
Why would this one command a reward of some kind???

If they don't have time to moderate, or whatever...pass hosting along to someone else.

Edit: OH NO....please tell me you guys in the one fleet haven't been paying for all the TOKENS to run the Colony Simulation every time. THAT was a bad move.

No multiple fleets are using it to host sims.
It’s not one fleet bankrolling the whole channel, that would be mental. There’s a growing list of known “hosts” who are available and who run a good show. These guys are using their own various fleet resources to provide the sim tokens. The channel is really being used as a match making service by bringing the interested players together with the willing hosts.
And it’s all good so far, people are grateful for the channel and enjoying the sims themselves.

The channel, which I am a member, is for teaming, just as are the DPS channels. No-one should get special recognition for creating it as this was bound to happen no matter who created it. All this has done is pull all the teaming requests out of zone channel. It's not special, nor a ground-breaking idea, as as soon as the Sims came online, there would have been a dash to create it in the first place.

I joined it, just to see an active chat channel in game again. Outside of this, I haven't set foot on Dranuur outside the two time I ran the FE and when I do Beach Assault.

But that's just me. I don't let myself get distracted from looking at the the problems the game has, by some new shiny thing or other.

Seems like organic, word-of-mouth recognition is vastly superior to making unnecessary threads when advertising new channels.

A thread was already made a little over a week ago to advertise the channel, it is found at:

There's been a ton of these types of channels. It's helpful, but frankly it's a organic development for the community.

Now Doffjobs... Those guys had massive spreadsheets detailing all the DOffs and up to date sheets detailing which mission is in which sector block at any one time.

  • Hello everyone,

My name is Maikel and I am the channel owner of the simulation.

Let me explain why I made the channel.
When my fleet where tier 1, we also tried to get members from the fleet and armada together. But even with a active fleet and armada, I did not get 20 players together. I also remember that someone placed a youtube video about the new Colony and saying in that video, that there are fleet's even less active or don't have so much members to build the colony, because you need a lot of provisions.

So I came with the idea to make the Simulation channel, with the goal that players can come together and start a Simulation. This will give every fleet the chance to farm a lot of provisions for there fleet and it don't matter how active a fleet is. Also you have fleet's that only have good friends in it, so for those players it is also great help that they can farm for there Colony.

In the beginning I hosted a lot of Simulations and let players know about the channel. Before I know it, the channel was growing very fast and I saw lot more hosters starting Simulations. But that is not the only thing I saw in the channel. I also saw that players help each other and even new players are getting good support from others. So the channel did work very good and it helps a lot of fleets and players.

In the time players also asked if there is a Discord channel. So I made one and I did this with one more person that I saw in the channel as a very active player and helpful. I promoted him to admin and later I promoted also two others admins that I trust and where very helpful by creating the Simulation website, where players also can go to get all info about the channel and Simulation.
Now we are still busy to look out for players in deferent timezones and getting more operators, because the channel is growing very fast.

But we all don't have to get anything for this. We are just glad that we are helpful for all the players in the game and that everyone is enjoying the sims themselves and get the chance to farm a lot of provisions for there fleet.

Okay, that was all. All enjoy your self on the simulations and maybe I will see you in a Simulation.

    Greetings,

You guys basically copy/pasted the DPS channel (metals) Simulation guides and didn't even give them proper credit until someone mentioned it in that other thread.
    :/

So, Nah, I don't think you guys deserve any kind of special praise. Frankly, I'm starting to think being channel moderators is going to your heads judging by these types of threads your members keep making.
Way to celebrate yourselves and pat yourselves on the back... how very humble of you. Smh.

If anything, you guys should be making threads thanking the Metals DPS channels for their Simulation strategy guide that you stole for your own uses.
You didn't do any of the hard research and strategy planning, you just let others do the leg work, then swooped in like vultures and made a channel right under their noses.
    *slow clap*

These simulations would've been called out in the DPS channels naturally, and things would've went on as per usual.
But you saw opportunity to circumvent their leg work and under cut their efforts.

I don't praise anyone for that type of behavior.. What will you steal and take credit for next ?

I'm only going to respon one time on this childish behavior. DPS is for DPS, checking how much damage you make with your character. I fat about my self that is it much easer to use one channel instad many diferent channels. Also, not all players use the DPS channels and new players even can not join the DPS channels and that is why the Simulation channel is easy, it is for all players!

For the rest, I have all respect for the DPS League and there guide is also on our website, so if they click on it, it will bring players to the website of DPS League.

For the rest, we all try together to help each other, so also the DPS League guys. And wryly, it is just a game to have fun and pleasure with each other! But we all want to do our best and help others on our own way.

So I don't know what your problem is, but please let your drama outsite the game!
I will not respon anymore on this subject.

If all agree I can start a donations channel. For people who want to donate ingame items to others.

For people who want to reward others. And for all my efforts donating to me is mandatory :-)

    You know very well what my problem was, I stated it pretty clearly;
You guys lifted the DPS channel guide and did not give them credit until one of the channel mods commented on the previous thread.

But it's great to hear you've rectified the situation.

And since you mentioned it, I'll strongly disagree with your assessment that DPS channel is for DPS.
People had been forming groups for every major and minor event for years just fine. Be it Mirror Invasion, Sompek, NWS, whatever. It worked well. As would've simulation.

You seem to think this Simulation channel is a necessity (fair enough) but IMO all you've done is thin the herd that would've otherwise used the DPS channels to form groups for simulation.

Whatever though ! We won't be seeing eye to eye on this issue. So, there really is no point for you to respond.
    Enjoy your channel.

Not bad at all however some rules are really needed. At times is chaos city in there.

    So far I got:

1-Whoever is leading a sim might have others in ignore and won't listen to what's going on.
Remove IGNORE or be aware you will have some peeps in ignore list.

2-Do one event at a time. In different occasions I have seen more than 3 events running at the same time. This is very chaotic and a disservice for those waiting to start a sim for over 30 mins while someone else starting same event.

3-TEAM UP! only way to avoid chaos. Whoever is leading the sim should have lieutenants or designees so that each generator has a full team and avoid people wasting their time. Plenty of times I have seen blind invites with people running around and NOT knowing where to go. This is really waste of good organization from part of the leader.

4-If you are leading an event ask invitees to stay for a minimum of 15/20/25/more waves rather than just go blind and drag the rest of us further to oblivion.
Don't be afraid to vote your conscious and say "NO" rather than to cave into peer pressure.

5- Participants should stay with teams once event started. Any AFKs should be banned from future events.

Just a few observations. It is a good channel for starters but some rules and banning the obvious leechers is needed.

I will take this advice and talk it over with the admins. It will be showed back on the website and Discord. Thanks ;)

    I’m in fully agreement with @taylor1701d .

The channel “borrowed” a map guide from the STO league as advertisement in forums. The channel recruited out of the existing PvE channels in game to round up its players. It’s not as if we ever needed yet another channel for this. The existing ones would have worked just fine.

I leave any sort "recognition" for this channel to the player base when the colony’s Dilithium demands catch on and auto generation sees to exploding coffers.

So is the hostility is really because someone else got there first it seems?

Who care if it's being done via the DPS leagues or a new channel. Someone went and set up a place to organise the runs and it is working.

If people don't like that set-up they can ignore it and go play elsewhere. Credit has been given to the DPS guys for the guide basics but i imagine that a near identical guide would have appeared anyway as several members were already working on one when the channel started, theres only so many ways to write the same info down.

Personally i prefer the Sim channel for my runs as it's dedicated to the one cause and it works. I'll use the DPS channels for my ISA's, CCA's or use TSC for other queues should i have the wish to play them.

Please don't confuse hostility with lack of recognition or more precisely the unwillingness to follow a call for recognition. The OP's intention was clearly about distributing knowledge. I just underlined parts in it that were missing.

Moreover he asked for my opinion on topic, which I gladly gave as well.

If peeps like to go for the new channel no hard feelings here. :)

    Hello everyone,

I want to inform you about a few thinks.

    Items/gear in the channel:
There was a issue if players me or me not show items/gear in the chat. I have talked to the other admins/operators and came to the conclusion, that there is no problem that players show there items/gear in the chat. But don't do this while a hoster is busy with inviting players and that is also in the rules:
04: When a hoster announces a new simulation forming, ALL idle chatter needs to cease until the simulation is full.

    Add rules:
There was players coming to us and asked to add some rules to the Simulation and with a big channel as the simulation and still growing every day, you do need some rules. Now in our opinion, we can not make from any little thing a rule, but we do can make some suggestions. So that is why we made rules and suggestions on the website and on Discord to view back.

Reporting a issue of a member:
We don't need anyone publicly naming and shaming and that is why we also have the website. If you have sign in and fallowed the guide, then you know where the message system is.
In this message system you can send a message only to a admin and a oparator. You just click ''Ranks'' and below that you choose the ranks you want to send a mail to and then explain the issue. The first admin/operator that is online, will contact back. Make sure your rapport is accurate with a chat log and screenshot if you have them, also if you can get multiple people reporting the same issue the better the change it get dealth wit.

    Greetings,

    Maikel
    and the Admins
We wish you all to enjoy your selfs with the simulations and maybe we see you back in a Simulation.
