Fast Starship Trait Leveling

crazyned1066crazyned1066 Member Posts: 198 Arc User
What are currently the most common ways to level ship traits quickly for Toons not too far along in the story arc?

For example, a level 50-60 toon who hasn't progressed to the Delta Quadrant missions.

I realize there are probably quite a few ways to do it, but I'm looking for ideas from players with recent experience. I'm sure there are a lot of folks leveling their Miracle Worker (Wow, they're ugly!) ships right now.

Red Alerts hand out tons of XP for destroying a few targets. I can run Borg Red Alerts once or twice a day and get traits pretty quickly.

This is my current MO for leveling, along with Japori patrols, fleet alerts, etc., but the cool downs still make this a time consuming process.

I haven't tried the Undine space battle zone recently, maybe that will help - non-stop nuking of targets...

Battlezones tend to have lots of ships; the travel time can be a little bad, but deep-space encounters aren't bad since the faster you kill ships, the faster they show up and has a little variety.

    Argala elite works equally well

Actually, I'm still finding repeatable space patrols - especially Japori, as you mentioned - to be one of the best sources for Ship XP. Besides that, any storyline mission with plenty of space battles (in your own ship, so that leaves out "Step Between Stars") works well too - I like to use "Surface Tension", myself.

I tend to use Badlands Battlezone. If there aren't many players around you'll have the XP coming out of your ears.

If you can find a group to do Argala or Japori, then more ships show up, so more XP. Three fleeties helped another get ship mastery in just a few 4/5 Japori runs.

I do argala runs and leave on the last enemy and repeat until the mastery is complete.

This is still the fastest method I have found.

Overall, the entire concept of Trait leveling should be re-examined. It sounds good at first, but in the end it's little more then an annoyance.

Red Alerts used to be much better before they turned them into PVE Queues. Borg now provides more ship XP than the Tholian, whereas before the change Tholian was better.

Before the new UI, Starbase 24 Solo was also very good.

My number one method is Kerrat, which has plenty of Borg spheres, cubes and hulks to destroy, each giving around 300xp.

Given it's not a queue and the Borg respawn, it's pretty easy to just stay there and quickly grind up the masteries. The down side is that you're in competition with other players (both in terms of destroying the Borg and each other). If you don't have the DPS and speed, you may find yourself getting little to no xp. Should be easy at lvl 50-59 though, since Kerrat is empty at those levels.

Undine Battle zone is good, I also use Mirror invasion when its open. Last night I got a ship from 0 mastery xp to level 3 in one run. thanks to AFKer giving me more stuff to shoot at.

The current Mirror Invasion is a good way to level up your ship. More or less none stop combat once the mission actually beings. I unlocked the Tier 5 trait after only 3 days just by playing MI once per day for 3 days.
