Might be returning, have a question...

First up, I'm not referring to the T6 Connie here, I understand it was lock box only and now probably goes for zillions on the exchange, like the Kelvin Connie - so for me unobtanium would be easier to get...

However, I saw that the TMP Connie got a retexture...

I recall it being totally useless in the game (I'm talking about the early tier Light Cruiser version) and I ended up pootling around in my T5 Vice Admiral Enterprise E clone if I wanted to actually do any sort of combat. I never did get that T6 ship...

Has the early tier TMP Connie improved at all in that respect or is it still just as useless at combat?

Is there any way to make it effective in a fire fight whilst keeping it canon and without being in a fleet, or having to spend tons of hard cash, dil or ec?

Thanks in advance.

Rare that I disagree with Napalm, but I'm going to say that for the vast majority of players, a T2 ships will not suffice for end game content.

He's not wrong, it can be done.. in fact, it is done on a fairly regular basis, but by players that are really comfortable with the game and know what they're doing. For a returning player to try and tackle end game content in a T2 Connie would more then likely be unrealistic and would end in little more then frustration for you. There are however, alternatives that aren't going to break the bank.

The 'Kelvin Connie' really isn't all that expensive and you can get it fairly quickly by trading Dilithium for Zen, buying keys and selling them. The Kelvin Connie is one of your lower priced lock box ships due to high number available. I think the last time I checked it was around 300M EC which sounds like a lot but really isn't.

There is also an even easier option, the T6 Miranda. It's really quite a nice little ship and you can just get it straight from the C-Store as an account unlock with no gambling involved.

Again, Napalm isn't wrong.. with practice and skill, it's feasible to handle end game in the T2 Connie, but it won't be easy.
    Insert witty signature line here.

Thanks, I will hold my hand up and say "yes I have never really got it" when it comes to all the ship stuff, I am a casual casual player - I basically like the game for being able to pilot canon ships and do the ship to ship combat.

So which of the ToS expansions T6 ships can look like the ToS Connie?

Sadly, Cryptic wasn't thinking when they made the TMP Enterprise just a skin for the T6 Connie. They could have easily made it a different ship (since technically they are different ones in STO already) and dropped it in the C-store and sold a ton of them while still keeping the T6 TOS Connie super rare.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

No, they probably were thinking. I'm guessing the Temporal Light Cruiser generated them a lot of hard cash and probably still does with people trying to get if off the exchange (what's the process - buy lock box keys with Zen (i.e. grind for weeks for enough Dil to convert to 1 Zen or pay up with hard cash), sell lock box keys for EC, profiiiit!!).

They know very well almost every one wants a T6 TMP or TOS Connie so they keep it rarer than unobtanium to generate the maximum amount of income...

Anyhow I used my T2 Connie that I seem to have equipped already, yesterday, and it didn't do too badly, although I'm sure the guys in the Tholian Web Red Alert I joined wouldn't agree.

I may continue with it and see how I go. I don't generally do PvE anyhow, just the SP "story mode" stuff. Want to change the material on it though, I changed to material 8B to see how it looks and I prefer the look of the adjusted material 8. I'm not sure of the phaser banks on it either, might need an upgrade in that area...

Looking at the cost of Zen, £17 for 2000, I don't think I'll be buying any C-Store stuff any time soon, I don't play STO enough to justify the cost, and the ships and stuff I would like to buy will cost me 10000 Zen (£83).

Think I might concentrate on equipping the Yorktown C (Ambassador class), and D (Galaxy class) so they're usable, and adjust the A (TMP Connie, not the TMP Connie refit). My Yorktown E (Sovereign class) build works just fine I think (probably could do with more tweaks though as it's not particularly canon, but it works for me as it is).
