I wonder if Pacifica is a planet populated by aquatic Federation species.
Or at least, a planet they all agree to visit.
Like a neutral meeting planet for diplomatic purposes, a vacation destination or both.
Wonder if that could be used for a Pacifican faction? ;)
One based on only aquatic species.

According to all the notes I researched, Gene Roddenberry decided TAS was non-canon during the second year of TNG's production.
Since he's the creator, I assumed his word was law.
I think that decision was only reversed when he couldn't contest it anymore.

But me personally, I disdain TAS because it was directly responsible for introducing unpleasant content concepts into STO.
If it hadn't been accepted or created, those concepts would never have had a basis/reason to be implemented.

the creator's word only matters while they still OWN something - once he sold off star trek to CBS, he lost all right to say what was and wasn't canon

    ^This

Gene may have created Star Trek, but he sold it to CBS, making them the word of god in regards to Star Trek. TAS is canon because CBS said so.

It's also canon to STO, which has referenced a handful of TAS concepts such as the Kzinti(Ferasans), and the Phylosians.

    The Kzinti aren't canon anymore.
Because their creator stipulated that they are not to be used as source content in STO/Trek and therefore this removes them from the universe outside of TAS.
That's why we have Ferasans, because Kzinti couldn't be implemented.

This whole post is wrong on multiple levels
    1. That isn't how canon works. Not being able to use something again due to licensing reasons does not make then not canon, it just makes them unable to be used in the future.
    2. Enterprise was actually going to have a Kzinti episode, and several ideas were pitched for them.
    3. Larry Niven NEVER ONCE said that Kzinti couldn't be used as content in future Trek shows, or games.
    4. The reason why they haven't been used, despite the fact they can, is because CBS and Cryptic don't want to pay licensing fees, not because they simply can't use them at all.

So much like your idea of TAS not being canon, and Gene Roddenberry being the determinator of canon, you are wrong, terribly so.
