Pretty good sale for those that desire more storage! I'm sure some will frown upon the time this is issued, but hopefully Cryptic will have other sales during a time-frame that suits others too.
Just missed this one, again, like every other one so far because I didn't decide to check STO first thing in the morning. I'm guessing those earlier discussions about the timing of flash sales amounted to 'change nothing'?
The idea of regular flash sales is fine, but you have a global audience. We work and sleep just like you guys, yet every single flash sale has been 10-18 PT. Is it really too much to ask to have flash sales in other time zones? Or extend it so it covers a 24 hour period?
Yeah, Cryptic doesn't seem to care about giving customers that are not able to get online from 10-6 any consideration. Every damn flash sale is at a convenient time for them. If they want to do a fast sale, the shortest time frame should be 24hrs. So instead of getting some Zen from me today all they get is my increasing disgust with their business practices. Why get my money when they can push me away from enjoying their game. Just what every business prefers, right? Cause I sure as hell ain't giving you full price on whatever item(s) I missed during the sale!
Whomever's bright idea these 'flash' sales is needs to be fired and/or sent to take an actual business course. Your customer base spans ALL the timezones of the planet! Get your heads out of the U.S. Pacific timezone only mentality. Hell, even normal people in THAT timezone are at work during your sales! What timezones are the lucky ones that your workday hours sales just coincidentally work out for?
Another flash sale that should be a 24 hour deal to cover the global market but isn't because apparently cryptic doesn't like making money outside selling keys for gambling boxes.
Also how about a little bit of advanced warning?
Yesterday, 10th oct, there was no mention of it on the launcher when I logged on at lunchtime (uk time) to do my daily doff stuff.
Folk need to boycott these flash sales until they become available to all and advertised in a way that actually makes people aware of its existence.
On a plus, being an in game thing at least the all platform claim might be accurate as it won't involve them having to talk to sony's EU store folk.
As I work full time, on the east coast, I get to take advantage of these sales. Got the dreadnought bundle 30% off and now bought some account slots at the same discount. While I understand the frustration of the above players, if Cryptic wasn't making money they wouldn't be running these sales this way.

The point of these flash sales is to encourage people who are on the fence about something, like additional bank space, to go ahead and make the purchase, with the limited time designed to give these customers a serve of urgency and increase the likelihood of them making the purchase. It's not meant to be a sale for everybody, it's meant as a quick cash grab.
I could have taken advantage of this sale, but I really don't need anymore space so I didn't.

First off, you're right that it's a quick cash grab. No one has a problem with that, they DO have a problem with Cryptic / PWI apparently not wanting cash from 2/3 of their players.
And if you didn't need space, why bother commenting when this flash sale debacle doesn't affect you?

PS. ambassadorkael, this is strike 3.
It's not that they don't want cash from 2/3 of the playerbase, it's that players with the means to make the purchase are far more likely to make an impulse buy if they have a limited time to consider it.
For example, the T6 Miranda is a ship I love, but have not purchased because my captains all have ships I'm happy with. If they put it on a 24 hour sale, I'd consider it but likely still not purchase, but if they put it on a flash sale and I found out towards the end? I might just buy it without taking the time to really think about it. That's why they do it this way, not to exclude people but to drive impulse sales.

True, they do want cash, they are just too stupid to realize that the way they are doing it alienates more players than it gets money out of. Unless you are on STO 24/7 a 24hr sale IS a limited time. Just taking a shot in the dark here, but the average time played is probably 1-3hrs a day? So THAT is the only 'limited time' that matters. If someone sees that a sale will be over before their next opportunity to log in, that is the time they have for an impulse buy. But if they log in AFTER the sale, there is no impulse at all!

same time window and it was only for 25% off... every other flash sale was 30% off, even the ship bundles.
