T5U ships ?

So i just returned and wondering are these ships useless now with all the T6 ships in the game. Kind of itching to fly my advanced carrier for awhile.

The only difference between a T5U and T6 is the lv 5 trait and spec seating. A T5U is still just as effective.

yep rattler nailed it dead on. They just kinda 'feel' lesser because of the lack of a 5th tier of mastery and gimmick seating. But in practice they're still quite capable of kicking TRIBBLE.

Selling marginal advantages is the business model, you really don't need the best stuff.

true... you can still, with some difficulty, use a t3 ship and green mkXII gear to do engame content

Still quite happy with the Fleet T5U Vor'cha, Kamarag, and Ambassador Classes. Heck even the T5 MU Heavy Cruiser can hold her own in my book.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

No, T6 also has an extra station seat (Lt. Cmdr).

And some T5-U ship, like Lukari Scout Ship, still only have 10 consoles upon upgrade.

Heck I still use my Risian Corvette as my main ship, and do all missions with it at least once.

I've bought, and enjoy flying, multiple T6 ships, but I always seem to come back to the T5U Mobius that I bought about 3 or 4 years ago.

She is still a very capable ship and can easily hold her own in endgame content.

not necessary in any way, but you want to have them eventually, or at least fill out the 4-5 ship mastery slots in your trait window. You can get these traits elsewhere too, although the best ones are from T6 ships. Skill is still more important than your setup.

I've actually been flying a T6 Intrepid on my Fed Main ever since it dropped. But the other day I ended up picking up the Wells Temporal Science ship(T5U) on the cheap and I'm loving it!

Yes I believe this is accurate, and then there are minor stats boosts like slightly more hull, +5 more innate subsystem power levels, and I wouldn't entirely discount the power of specialized seating and especially full specialist ships as they do make it possible to do things T5-U can't, such as built-in cloaking with passive stealth (intel ships), specific attacks or defensive measures against a target or group or your entire team, thrusters & temporary immunity (pilot maneuvers), better consoles vs their T5 counterparts (eg. T5 vesta 3-pc set vs T6).

Also, alts in these more powerful ships benefit considerably since the tiny differences are much more noticeable when not having much in the way of gear - I also enjoy playing advanced STFs on alts with standard mk xii VR gear, so long as the team has one or two high DPSers it feels like there's more of a balance between your and the NPCs, so I'm making great use of the marginal differences between the two despite the total ripoff of re-buying a ton of T5 ships I already own as T6.

My go to choice is the T5U Excelsior Retrofit. It does the job and does it amazingly well.

Very true. For me, I really like the extra Lt. Cmdr seat (so I easily double FAW3 on my Escorts). Didn't realize they also come with +5 native power levels; but yes, that's rather major after S13.

Having said that, the last few days I've been flying that Lukari Scout ship, and it's not a joke, by any means. I still placed first in it, in a CCA (not much of big deal, really; just to show that T5-U can still hold its own).

The T5U in my siggy fits it's name, but even owning a number of T6 ships, it's still the one I prefer to fly. It's also a quite tough little ship, I just have a bad habit of flying into the middle of a furball....after doing enough damage to draw aggro from almost everything there. T5Us are still very viable ships at end game.
    LTS and loving it.

And I find the Luxury Cruiser delightful. :)

I'd love to watch a duel between two Risian cruisers, one with Vaadwaur arrays and one with Kelvin arrays. You know... old school broadside style. I'll bring the Pirates of the Caribbean music. ;)

Tarazed (Recluse T5U is still my main Sci's Flagship. nothing better than some Tholian KickAzz.. if I ever score Bug ship hangars, Sword of barsoom (JH Dreadnaught Carrier T5U) with be Deety's permanent flagship

And OP, don't sweat the the trait, as long a you have traits from other ships

Get a third ship, slap broadside emitter array on it and get between both Risian cruisers. XD
