The very first time I got error CE-34878-0 was at Deep Space K-7 while I was renaming a ship. That didn't crash the game and I was able to just continue on.
The second time it happened, I was at Deep Space K-7 rearranging my bank inventory. The game did crash that time and has ever since when raises its ugly head. So yeah, it happened a few more times after that, all at Deep Space K-7 and with the same character. No other character has been in use when the error occurs.
During the recent Mirror Invasion event time period this same character was at Deep Space K-7 again, but this time he was loading into the Federation Border for the Days of Doom queue. This was the first time he got stuck and I had to file a support ticket to get him moved out of there, because every time I tried to load him up the game crashed with error CE-34878-0. Haun over at Support suggested that I post here about it after the matter was resolved. I let that slip my mind, unfortunately, but made sure to do it today.
Guess what? It happened again last night. I was at Deep Space K-7 again, where me and a friend usually meet up to do queues, and while I've done Days of Doom a few times since getting unstuck last time, he is now stuck again. Error CE-34878-0 when the game crashed while loading into the Federation Border for Days of Doom. So I filed another support ticket.
I am to the point now that I don't even want to go to Deep Space K-7 anymore or play the Days of Doom queue. I have no idea if they have anything to do with the error or not. It would be good to know if the team responsible for bug fixing are still looking into the error and if they have any more information on the issue to help us from falling into it. Also, it would be good to know if anyone else has, or is still having issues with Error CE-34878-0. And share their experiences with the issue. Like what they were doing while it happened. I am just thankful it's only happened to one character so far.

If it's in the system files, you'll be getting that error in every game & you should backup your save games and other data before re-initialising your PS4 back to its default state.
If it's just happening in STO, deleting the game and redownloading it should fix the issue.
I'm not 100% sure how things work with PS4 but it's possible that some files in your system related to that character have been corrupted and thus you keep getting the error.
Well that's not cool if that is the case. I put a lot time into that character, not to mention the ZEN I spent to unlock ship slots, and the Lobi I've spent. But aren't characters saved online and not on the system?
I'll try that as soon as they get my character unstuck
