Switch characters without shutting down game

Is there a way to switch between your 5 characters without shutting down and restarting the game, STO takes 10min to start up, please post below, thanks in advance.

P.S. If i delete a character will that slot be gone for ever, just wanted to try all 3 carriers in all factions, like i have 2 star Fleet tactical characters, just want to try science and engineering too.

    Just select switch character instead of selecting exit game, works like a charm.

    I know it's easy for PC, are you not on PC? (Really hate that all 3 platforms share a forum)

    I like to see a ground mission where all my captains are in the same away team, and no boffs.

    Even if he wasn't, rest assured that on Consoles it is as easy as it is on PC by selecting "Change Characters" in the in-game menu.
