Where are the Science Cruisers?

I feel like we are really missing science-biased cruisers; every time we get a new cruiser, it's always tac-heavy. Sure we get some in the form of three-pack variants, but I think it would be really neat if we could get one stand-alone that didn't have to rely on being part of a pack.

I'd like to propose a boff layout: Commander Engineering, Ensign Engineering, 2x Lt. Comm. Sci, Lt. universal.

Consoles: (non fleet)
4 Eng
4 Sci
2 Tac

I figure this type of layout might be suitable for something like a flight-deck, or perhaps a New Orleans

Anyway, thanks for you time!

Check out the T6 Yorktown Class Science Star Cruiser in the Z Store. It should meet your needs ;)

    Thanks :)
Though I'm really hoping some day we can get one that's not a variant from a three-pack

Are you asking for a T5 or T6 ship?

T5 ships have 9 consoles, if upgraded to T5u or you get the fleet version then it will have 10 consoles. If a T5 fleet ship is upgraded to a T5u fleet ship then it will have 11 consoles.

T6 ships have 11 consoles, fleet or fleet equivalent T6 ships will have 12 consoles.

The T5 Odyssey Science Cruiser comes closets to what you are looking for.

The T6 Science Star Cruiser is also pretty close to what you are looking for.

The Yorktown (Oddy starcruiser sci variant) and the Geneva (CBC sci variant) are both science heavy cruisers.

Those should be suited to whatever you want them for.

there is the tal'shiar battle cruiser
not exactly what you've been looking for, but I consider it the best of both worlds. Have it myself and I have to say that it is so modular in its Boff seating that this really is a ship you can use in any and all capacities.

Thanks for the reccomendations :), I'm hoping for a new t6 science cruiser just on it's own and not part of a eng/sci/tac pack.

Thanks! That looks nice, kind of a shame it costs a ton of lobo though :/

You do not need to buy the entire pack just to get the ship. The ship can be purchased for 3000 Zen, or 2400 Zen during a ship sale.

The Tal'shiar battlecrab is a great versitale ship as the poster above said.

Best that fits this is the T6 Science Star Cruiser (which has already been mentioned) or the T5 Fleet Ambassador (or if you have the old giveaway one at not fleet).

the tals shiar battle cruiser is also available on the exchange for less than 300 million EC (around 60 keys which would be 6000 Zen). But be aware that there are two versions, the T5 and T6 which have similar names...look carefully for the T6 in the name

well, no not really the case...but they surely demand a far greater understanding of gameplay than beam cruisers and escorts. There are some pretty uber sci ship builds that can keep up with any other energy weapon setup. There has been a lot of sci love in the past years that made those builds more than relevant.

What we need is a Science Engineering Ship - one that can quickly close Portals and quickly fire up the Power Stations in the Mirror Invasion. :)

Ah yes, you are correct. T6 ships have either 10 or 11 consoles.

You may not like 3-pack ships but I would suggest getting the flagship bundle as they are fairly decent ships with important traits.

Who knows though, they might some day make a special promo ship with 12 consoles for some reason or another, promo ships do tend to break certain barriers with ship setup norms.

Even if the Yorktown is the only Odyssey Variant that fits your needs, it's still worthwhile to at least consider the 3 pack.

The consoles on the Operations and Tactical variants are both very good, and when used together with either the Yorktown Console or the Timeline Stabilizer gives you a nice 3 piece bonus. It's also very useful for all the cosmetic options if you want to customize the way your ship looks.

Down the road if you make another Federation Character or two you will also have the Tactical and Operations variants available to them too. The Flagship Bundle is actually a pretty worthwhile acquisition if you're so inclined.

    Good advice.

It is always better to get the three pack, even if you think you will never use the other two, as things change.

Yeah don't break up bundles. You'll thank yourself later when you decide you want one of the other ones

With Sci you are kinda stuck with small sci ships or large sci carriers. So go for the T6 Oddy bundle for a cruiser. Sadly, they just had the 30% flash sale on bundles that most players probably missed. That would have saved you almost $20.

Some premium dreadnaughts do sci like a sci ship but with an extra weapon slot and hull like a cruiser.

The Paradox lobi ship has 7 weapon slots, a hangar with nice exclusive fighter, proper sci ship abilities( sensor analysis, secondary deflector and subsystem targetting), big shield multiplier like a sci ship and a 50k hull( think T6 light cruiser.) As a popular lobi ship they are always available on the exchange.

The Annorax and Sona dreads from R&D packs would be a mega-priced alternatives.
