Please recommend a species and carrier that will be mostly star ship missions as I hate the ground missions looking for hidden treasures.
I am on PC, and it would greatly improve the game for me if I could have the camera view always on my targe so I can properly orient my ship to fire forward or rear weapons......... kind of like how Star Trek Bridge Commander does.
Please give detailed instructions.
Thanks.... :-)

I'm interested in learning about this too!

Would also like to know if you can reset characters/builds as you learn more about your personal likes/dislikes or to correct mistakes.

I'm guessing by the date of your post you were too late to start on the summer event ship, it wouldn't have been a bad option at all for a carrier.

Most carriers have 3 fore and 3 aft weapon slots so favour broadsiding so as long as you are side on to a target fore and aft beams will be active. An exception to this would be the romulan t'laru which has four weapons up front and only two behind.

And then of course to muddy waters further there's also dreadnought carriers which have 4 fore and 3 aft.

I have a few and my current favourite that isnt tied to a faction would have to be the denuos sphere builder dreadnought, the temporal stuff can give it an extra kick to mobility allowing for a more cruiser like flight style than the often wallowy carrier class. However it does have the flaw that if you want frigate pets you have to also obtain the arehbus destroyer.

The vonph is good but does tend to fill the screen quite a bit so loses some points there.

The xindi narcine was a favourite but thats now been replaced by a t6 version and both will be costly to get. I meant to open some t5 infinity boxes before the narcine was removed but sadly forgot to.

If you play as a romulan then the t'laru is definitley worth looking out for, lockbox ship but it was surprisingly cheap when I got mine. It is slightly wallowy but the more forward focus of the weapons off set that fairly well unless you find yourself parked on top of an enemy who teleported or similar.

Still in the hope that the KDF get a t6 kar'fi, the t5 was one of the original store ships and it's a real shame it's not been updated. I never really enjoyed the vo'quv so moved from the kar'fi into the denous and have pretty much stuck with that outside levelling the odd ship for a trait now and then.

Other downside is that boxed ships are specific to a character and not account unlocks unlock cstore or event ships.

As for locking camera on your target I know the console version does do this (by clicking the right thumbstick although if you then move the stick it'll start locking onto friendlies instead) so I'd suggest you take a look into the options as I'm fairly sure something similar does exist on PC.

If by species you're meaning faction then probably fed since thats where most of cryptics focus is.

You can retrain skill points IF you have a respec token or patience to wait for when cryptic have done a change to abilities and force you to respec. The points you get for specializations (command/intel/etc) can't be respecced but you will eventually fill all those out so just stick with it and it'll happen. Traits can be redone at any time in sector space.

You'll have the same sets of missions no matter which race you pick, for a little bit the feds, roms and klinks all have different storylines but other than that you will have to do ground a fair amount.

Unless you level up enough to simply run the PVE or PVP missions all of the time, basically ignoring the games story content?
