Specialization Points

theddontheddon Member Posts: 10 Arc User
I read the STO Wiki page regarding specialization points. I thought once you receive a maximum of 150 points, the points would turn into dilithium ore. I don't know if this is bug or if there was changes that was made to the specialization point system, but as of now I only have 40 points total and each additional points I receive turns into dilithium ore.

I tried to spend few points into the skills but nothing changed. I'm afraid if I did, I won't have any points to spend on current/future skills. I put in tickets regarding this and so far I got no response and its pretty frustrating.

Does anyone have this bug or changes that I am not aware of?

If there's any information regarding this or a fix, please let me know.

Thanks!

You should be able to receive 150 Spec points total (at this time - the limit gets lift each time they add a new spec) which will allow you to fill up all the spec trees after which filling the XP bar will grant dilithium. When you say you've got 40 points total, do you mean that you have 40 unspent points and have spent a number of additional points or have 40 points total both spent and unspent?

If it's the former (i.e. you've got several trees filled and there's equivalent to 40 points within the trees that are unfilled) then its working as intended because the dev's intend for you to be able to fill all the trees but not bank extras for future trees at which point it starts converting to dilithium.

If it's the later in that you've earned 40 points total i.e. levels 50 to 60 for 10 points plus 30 further points filling 1 and 1/3rd specialisations then that's a bug (double check that your skills haven't become invalid cause that causes strange things to happen with XP levels - although I've not heard of it causing conversion to dilithium).

So right now, I've filled up Command, Temporal, Pilot, Commando, and Strategist. The only one that I have not completed is Intel.

If you are correct, the total amount to fill-in all specialization would be 150 points. And I need 30 points to fill Intel and that would leave me with 10 points left (since I have 40 points right now). Would that mean after I fill-in all specializations, I would not receive anymore points but it would turn into dilithium since I've hit the total amount of 150 points?

And if this is the case, I guess its working as intended and it would make sense that you can't bank extra points for future trees.

Sounds like it's working per design then.

They did change it a while back so all sources of spec points (Fed Admiralty Tour, Featured Episodes etc) count towards the cap whereas those certain ones didn't used too, However for whatever reason points of those types which were collected before the change don't count towards the cap which is probably why you have 10 extras over the cap.

On the plus side, extra dilithium rolling in from here on until they introduce a new spec.

Thanks for explanation! It makes sense and I see why my ticket was not answered since its work as intended.

One less thing to worry about =)

Again, thank for the help, much appreciated!
