There are two Odyssey Bundles in the c-store?

So apparently, there are two Odyssey ship bundles in the c-store - a T6 version and a T5 version.

While I'm sure that many people would have known that the Odyssey ships used to be T5, I've looked and it doesn't mention anywhere (as far as I can see) that the T5 ships are T5 in the bundle description.

Does anyone know how (or if) it's possible to exchange a c-store purchase if I accidentally bought the T5 versions?

I was so excited - now, I'm just pissed.

You can send in a ticket...possibly get it refunded but I doubt it.

The T5 bundle wasn't listed at T5 because there was only the T5 bundle at the time...but the T6 Bundle is listed as T6...and they have different costs (T5 Costs 5k while T6 costs 6k)

Like I said you can try but I would imagine they will tell you that you should have payed closer attention.

nope, There is some good news. The oddy console set is actually 6-peice so you need both versions to use the full gimmick array.

Oh, I realize I'm probably out the money and have 3 useless T5 ships. It just really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. $40 bucks (4000 zen during this sale) wasted with nothing to show for it.

I was really excited about this purchase. Really makes me think twice about ever doing so again. I had planned on buying some zen during the sale, as well...that's not happening anymore. Frankly, spending any more on the game seems like a waste of money after buying the lifetime sub and various expansion slots for inventory, banks, doffs, and bofffs.

I know this sounds harsh but really the only one to blame is you, and you're saying you wont pay for anymore of their product because of your mistake...sounds kinda petty.

You really should do your research before spending real money....no the T5 may not be listed as T5...because there was no need for them to be listed as such before T6...but every T6 version is listed as T6.

Also like I said...the T5's are cheaper than T6's...so there is that at least.

Wanting to re-buy T6 versions of ships one already owns, without added discounts, also feels pretty bad, but granted not as bad as what you did by accident. Hopefully they'll take care of you so you can get the T6 bundle instead.

One thing about the T5 Odyssey consoles is the aquarius pet can't be deployed at the same time as the saucer. I've always found that disappointing considering neither of the who are spectacular abilities and yet are still regarded as being OP or something. Meanwhile the Gal-X has no trouble saucer separating with a proper flight deck and also cloaking.

Pretty much what lianthelia said... :-/ Consider this a lesson in ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECKING what you have selected.
T5 aren't useless for regular mission content, and if you want them to pack more punch, you could always get an upgrade token. They're good ships, don't let the T5/T6 difference put you off (or at least try not to let it)

I fell foul of a similar slip yesterday on the exchange, but as it was the exchange, I was able to re-list the item, and didn't lose anything. But always Always ALWAYS double check that you have selected the correct thing (or if listing items on the exchange, that you have the selling price correct) before clicking to confirm.

I agree with others who put it on you, the buyer, when you buy something you did not intend to buy. It doesn't take much to look over the selections before clicking and confirming.

I have yet to purchase anything I didn't want to purchase because I made sure I selected what I wanted to select.

To 'threaten' to not buy anything else because of your mistake is quite arrogant.

I made that exact same mistake, had been trading dilithium for what seems like forever to get enough Zen for the pack (and for a casual player that takes a long time), ship sale came up so I looked to see if I maybe had enough zen and was ecstatic to see I had more than enough. Till I realized I had purchased the T5 bundle.

But ya know what ? I didn't come into the forums and gripe about it, I didn't contact Cryptic and try and get a refund. I manned up and admitted that I had made a mistake. I selected the wrong bundle to purchase and I got exactly what I selected to purchase.

So, using the free upgrade tokens I got with them (because it was a ship sale), I flew them all and had lots of fun with them, and found them quite good ships. Eventually I scraped up enough to buy the T6 bundle I actually wanted to begin with and now I have the entire console set....which I no longer use, in fact I rarely even fly those ships anymore. I also have since bought my LTS.

The fact is, you got exactly what you paid for. It is nobodies fault but your own that you didn't look closely enough at what you were buying before selecting purchase. Maybe you'll get lucky and sweet talk Cryptic into stripping you of the T5 ships you mistakenly bought and give you a refund......emphasis on the "sweet talk". They have no obligation to refund you anything since you received exactly what you selected and it is guaranteed if you go at them with an attitude you will get exactly no where, not that sweet talking them has much chance either but it's better than no chance at all if you give them attitude.

    That's not quite correct.

The 6 consoles combined are collectively two sets. One is for the T5 consoles, and the other is for the T6 consoles, all of which are able to be slotted on any of the T6 Odyssey's.

    • T6 Consoles: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Flagship_Technologies_Console_Set; includes the Console - Universal - Adaptive Emergency Systems, Console - Universal - Dampening Wave Emitter, and Console - Universal - Tactical Flagship Computer.
    • Additionally, if you own the Krenim Science Vessel, the Console - Universal - Timeline Stabilizer Field is part of the T6 Console set (making it 7 consoles)

Listen to people guessing if you want, but I have a friend who did almost this same thing and he got the money back.

Open a ticket for support, tell them exactly what happened, be polite and explain what happened and they will likely refund you. My friend accidentally purchased the wrong ship similar to what happened to you. He asked for the refund in Zen and explained that he still planned to spend the Zen just on something else (he didn't ask for the money back, he just wanted a different item) and support took care of him.

You're not screwed, you just have to go through Support. If you're simply asking to spend the money on something else, they're usually cool with that. They're still getting the money either way.

Ok, folks, jumping on the OP doesn't help the situation either.

Agreed, I think we can all agree that descriptions of items in the C-Store suck out loud.

This problem probably happens all the time, no need to jump on the dude for a simple mistake. Star Trek Online is the only game I have ever played that required users to do Internet research just to make sure they were clicking on the right item. Ships are horribly named, descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate, the C-Store is an absolute mess.

This is definitely not the first time this has happened in this game. I believe that support will take care of him.

    Thanks all for the feedback.

I recognize that it's not their fault that I clicked on the wrong item. Likewise, I really don't think it's that unreasonable that two ship bundles both called Odyssey both be labeled correctly for clarity. It's not like the bundle descriptions are carved into stone on the side of a mountain.

Nor am I trying to shift blame or punish them. My point was that I thought I was being careful before clicking and still made a huge mistake and wasted a lot of money on an item for which I have no use - which makes me hesitate to do so again with the high potential of making another mistake since the descriptions are not completely reliable ("Reliability" being a debatable point).

The original question I posed was WHETHER it was even possible to exchange the ships for the T6 version and how one would go about doing so, not just to complain.

That's not actually true. Not all T6 bundles are labeled T6 either.

I don't really get why the T6 flagship bundles are named after the T5 version ships at all. There is no ship named Odyssey in the "T6 Odyssey Bundle."

OP, in the future, I recommend buying ship bundles in the "ships" category rather than the "discount packs" category. There is a filter at the top that allows you to display ships of specific tier only.

if you want to be safe... buy only in the T6 tab if you want T6 ships. T5 is only good for admiralty cards or if there is a console you "need"

'Exchange', probably not (but you never know, it might be worth asking  ) But you can definitely upgrade them, which will still give a good performance ( I don't know if the upgrade would boost all the state to T6 stats, but it will definitely be an increase on the T5 stats) and more than adequate for the mission content the gamethrows at you :sunglasses:

Man, I wish I'd never once in my life derped an in-game purchase and could get entirely high-and-mighty about my perfect track record. I certainly try to read carefully and minimize the number of times it happens, but it still happens. Fortunately I've found Support in quite a few games have been able to reverse my occasional error(s).

This time around the they might not -- and then you've gotta take your lumps -- but this is definitely a situation where you should plead your case. Without threats. Without a lot of embellishment. Just a simple "oops. Can I get the zen back and get the item I was actually after?" If they can't/won't its still a relatively small price to pay for a reminder to be thorough before handing over your money in ANY transaction.

    Good luck!

Also, realize, at this point, even if you do get your refund, you're not likely to get the T6 bundle at the discounted price.

It is possible, I know someone who did it.

What they did was just did a straight refund of the Zen into my friends Zen bank. If the refunded amount isn't enough to purchase the T6 bundle at the current price, then as baddmoon said, you will then have to buy a little more Zen to cover the difference.

Sadly, you will lose out on the discount since the ship sale is over, but you should end up with the ship you wanted. When my friend had this issue, Support was very helpful and he ended up with the item he wanted. Your situation is a little different since it was done during a ship sale, but I'm sure they will still be able to help you.
