Anybody know what happened to the Mok'Bara Klingons that were on top of the arch? Kind of hard to get Master Relaxer accolade without them...?

I've heard they seem to appear around the :30 minute mark every hour. No idea how long they stay there, but I've yet to see them. They show up when they want to. Apparently they don't want to when anyone is actively looking for them.

Apparently it is every other hour.

Try afternoon :30s. They are only around for 15 seconds at most. You must be there on that Arch when they appear and click quickly.

This year they are showcasing the new 'Speed Mok'Bara' for Klingons that need to quickly get back to their Bloodwine stupors. :)

This is also correct... Gotta be in the right place at the right time, and ready to pounce quickly!

It's not every hour, it seems to be every two hours tho it shifted 30 minutes between Saturday and Sunday. I got it on two of my toons this weekend.

I believe the arguing between Klingon and Trill occurs on the :30 in the opposite hour where the Mok'Bara guys showed up for you.

Where the heck does the Biathlon race start?
A Trill, a Gorn, a Jem'Hadar, Bejoran and a Voth walk into a bar, and the Bartender asks "What is this a Joke?"
"Nope, just my away team" the trill replies before ordering a round for the bar.

So the Mok'bara seems to be at :30 for the odd hours & the argument between the Klingon & Trill seems to be at :30 during the even hours. If that's accurate that's good to know. If not someone please correct me.

I have never been able to discern a pattern for the argument. It just happens during the night on some nights. I either park there and wait for it, or manage to get it by pure luck.

Well that particular situation got complicated like crazy, given there's no day/night cycle, and no way of telling when night will be there.

They say that the torches and braziers are lit when it's supposed to be night, but "night" seems to be at an arbitrary time, as it's been "night" in the game when it's night in the real world as well as being "night" in the game in the middle of the real day.

It's always daylight there according to the sky and the shadows, but underneath it all, there is still a day/night cycle. The easiest way to see this is to look at the resort windows. If the windows aren't lit, it's actually daytime, if they are lit, it's nighttime. Braziers are no good since some of those attahed to the main structures on the island are aflame all day and night, and the ones that aren't, like the one by Qwen, only seem to burn from nightfall to midnight. Again, this is the invisible day/night cycle of the zone, which I believe is 1 hour day and 1 hour night, not your real world time, or the real world time at Cryptic, or what the sky tells you the time is on Risa. If the Trill and Klingon argument is indeed on the opposite :30s from the Mok'bara Klingons, then it should really be nighttime, and there's an easy tell for that right on the ceiling inside the Floater vendor's hut that they argue in front of. Just look at the lamp in there to see if it's lit.

Edit: That last part was incorrect, and it should have been obvious if I had thought about it. The real world clock doesn't have that kind of close relationship with the time of the mostly-invisible day/night cycle in any instance of Risa. The time of day in the instance begins when the instance opens, which is why, in previous years, you would have many instances, and most of them would be at different points of day or night all at the same time.

I was told the graphical setting redesign had some unintended conflict with the Risian night cycle and that's why it was disabled.
That there technically won't be nighttime until the issue has been fixed.

A shame, Risa looked quite nice at night.

Not so much unintended, just that the visible changes to coloring and such on the ground couldn't happen with the way that lights are handled now. I think that they knew quite well that they'd have to sacrifice the visual parts of the changing time of day for the new lighting, and they were okay with that.

I've stated upthread that I really don't care about the night portion of the map, and that losing it helps with some of the activities. I always found it a bit of a hindrance for doing anything in the jungle, like Horga'hn and Artifact hunts, and it had flaws that I'm not willing to romanticize out of existence. It was fine for roleplaying purposes, I suppose, but its functional limitations meant that I was never a fan of it.

I wish they'd go farther, actually, and just set the Fireworks and Unauthorized Dance party to specific times on the real world clock so that they can get rid of the lights in the resort windows and on the ceilings of the huts, and set the torches and braziers that aren't always aflame to always be off. Just make it like every other ground map in the game, since it now is.

In ESD when you are in the Concourse where Admiral Quinns office is, you will note that it gets brighter and darker, I believe simulating the rotation of the dock with reference to the Sun. I wonder if you can emulate that on a longer basis of 'rotation' to at least darken Risa somewhat?

I think that's pretty much it, at least everytime I've seen it there's been a ship outside the window.

-How do you get the accolade where you visit all the ten points on risa where the birds are on polls??
-Anyone noticed the floater tracks are bad this year in terms of alignment where the arc is sometimes way off the track and sometimes passing through terrains and trees that block the track?
-Biatholon is screwy during transition from board to floater..

Well if it is shadows of ships going by, then have very long lasting clouds obscure the suns on a regular basis. Though I was wrong about the rotation the concept is the same with the ships passing by.

By the way, how many Galaxy-X Dreadnoughts does Starfleet have? We seem to be building up an armada of them. Why didn't we use that vast armada during the Iconian War. :)

The only issue I've noticed with the floater tracks is that sometimes passing through the holographic markers doesn't count, requiring me to go back and do it again.
I don't recall ever seeing a track that went off path.

Thats another bug about the marker..I once went the whole course on purpose just outside a few of the markers but it registered as completed..I think this is because of the marker not being set according to the track position so anywhere near the marker seems good as long as your near it..Thats just what I observed this year..

For where the track gets into the terrain and is blocked by trees you cant go through and have to go around somewhat, the best area is the "Floating High" track inside the volcano (where the biatholon ends) at the start of the track immediately to the left.. :)

No they are not, but could someone at Cryptic please explain why they are unavailable for this event? The summer races are the only competitive PvE I enjoy, and its a shame to not be rewarded with the appropriate marks for them!

they made the official statement on another forum. "too soon" was the response. so don't plan on the competitive marks this summer. having said that I believe last summer the most recent rep was added to the birds and monkeys around halfway through Risa. If there's nothing else going on and Risa numbers are lagging I say there's a chance.

I wanted to comment here on how annoying the biathlon event is because I'm obviously too stupid to do the transition from board to floater although I get the "flag" message and go all the way over the ramp before activating the floater thereby forfeiting any chance on winning but still getting disqualified.

If you hit the ramp with your board, then you shouldn't get disqualified for switching to a floater. I routinely hit the ramp at full speed on my board, then switch to floater and haven't gotten disqualified.
  • defufodefufo Member Posts: 19 Arc User
I've accepted that I obviously lack the skills for the board-floater-transition, and don't bother with the biathlon anymore.

Has anyone got the H.M.S. Bounty model during the artifact hunt?
It's the last one I need for the accolade, and not got it (yet) after doing the hunt a lot of times now.

Yep. I am looking at one of characters and I do have the HMS Bounty model kit checked off as found. Still need to find 3 other things for this particular character. I don't really care about accolades unless completing the accolade actually has some beneficial outcome that I want to have. I can always complete it next year or the year after that. I don't bother going to Risa when the Summer Event is not running.

Yeah The sherlock hat and the Telephone booth seem to be my favourites to find.
Starting to think I need to find Sherlock so he can help me find the ship model. :p
