well, spent over $200.00 trying to get it... didn't get it. Last time I waste my money on R&D ships. but, Still love the game.

Sad to hear that vinny! :/ If a player invests a certain amount like that they should get it, imo. I think Cryptic should adapt some sort of scaling percentage for their gambling boxes/packs. If you open & win the big prize on attempt 1 good for you & it resets to the original whatever .01% chance of winning the top prize with all other lesser prizes & %s the same. If you open 10 or 100 or 1000 of those (same) boxes/packs then your chance incrementally increases with each failed attempt. Something similar to the Phoenix Prize Pack with it's versatility & options which impressed me. As it is now, with my understanding, it's the same minuscule chance of winning on chance 1 versus chance 100 or chance 1000. I've fallen prey to the temptation too. I opened 50, with no luck, those Promotion! R&D packs crossing my fingers for that Amarie ship. A few months ago I spent over a month's EC savings trying something similar with no luck on the big prize. vinny, again, it's sad to hear your story but it's a cautionary tale that myself & more probably need to be reminded of from time to time. You're absolutely correct too that STO is a good game despite this.

That is one of the reasons I'm for the official odds being announced by whatever company for whatever game for accountability & transparency. Not second hand data being collected by players even if it's accurate. Not from another server neither which could have it's random-number-generator different than the server we play on. I've read where this is beginning to happen in other games but also different countries to protect their citizens/consumers from potential fraud. Simply put it's a gamble, as it is now, & from my understanding as long as they state you will absolutely get those 10 lobi, for the STO example, then Cryptic can claim people are buying it because they want the lobi & not the ship LOL.

I'm the type I want to know what I'm buying then if I like it & think it's a good enough value I'll buy it. If I'm enjoying STO well enough, feel like I'm progressing in someway, & have spare cash then why not invest cash into STO. I'm still waiting for these prices to fall too with the current EC changes so I might be able to afford a few things I have wanted, but if that doesn't happen I'll be okay but disappointed because I want them not need them.

I'm waiting for the day PWE/Cryptic adapts their current tactics of their boxes/packs to the Zen Store whole heartedly. We're already seeing it slowly implemented with the buy 20 keys get that uber upgrade free. That would seem appealing, to me, if it wasn't keys since that would only perpetuate my losing & 1 uber upgrade just doesn't seem worth it. Why not have the option to purchase a Zen Store ship for 2000Z or 3000Z or whatever amount you feel lucky about, you might get something worth as little as 125Z like a key or you might get something worth up to 12000Z like a mega bundle or more likely something valued in between. It could be a ship, a pack of ships, 2-character slots, an inventory increase, an experience boost, a costume, a bridge pack. You'll never know the official odds, but as long as you are guaranteed something. It's the same strategy. You could even have limitation & add themes like all the lock boxes or packs. The only difference between that proposal & the current set-up with lock box & packs is there is a bit more distance between the actual cost & the reward using EC & dilithium so it's less direct from the pocket book.

You mean like the chance to upgrade an item's rarity when upgrading the level. Every upgrade/purchase applied increases the chance to increase the rarity/get the desired item. Once the rarity increase/item is attained, the counter resets.

    I could get behind this.

Hmmm.... So basically gambling like you do with the lockboxes. The problem here is that if you are already maxed out on ship slots or character slots, or if you already have the item that you luck out and win, the win is worthless and you'd have spent your Zen for nothing.

They'd have to code it in such a way that it would take a look at your overall C-store unlocks, account stats, and the stats of the character you are playing at the time, remove those items from consideration that will not help you, and use the remainder as a pool to determine what you get.

That or the much easier way of setting it so you have the ability to claim an equivalent number of keys if the item won is unavailable to you due to maxed out slots or previous purchases.
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Precisely the type of process I was thinking like. Thanks for the comparison.

Yeah there probably would need to be a lot of coding of many filters & settings involved so I doubt they would do that. There could be a lot of tinkering with the idea though & probably would be easier to create rather than adapt. Besides, the more direct approach might make players realize how much their chances are.

Don't lose heart. Sometimes a good friend you have in game might help you.
Either they might give you one as a gift, or trade with you.

Since this Smuggler's ship was plucked-out of relative obscurity I wonder about the chances Cryptic will introduce other ships from the various Star Trek franchises in the future or as someone stated in another post another faction that are independent of the main two.

I recently was viewing the Star Trek: Voyager & though their species is a bit creepy the Vidiians' ships had 2 or 3 well done designs models & were shown with enough visuals & angles compared to this Smuggler's which from viewing a couple YouTube videos was very well done too. Those Vidiians also had some sort of gimmick weapon too so that could be a perk for market/event value.

That would be an excellent one as well. I don't remember that episode at all & will definitely view it again. Cryptic could easily create some back story too involving how a stash of those Battlecruisers were just found. I think in the past Cryptic has done that for previous ships' introductions. That ship reminds me of some of the Klingon ships with it's triangular design, but no idea about the size of it till I watch the "Booby Trap" episode.

WHAT reduction of projectiles?!? Grav torps are like almost OP now. And hyper torps with overwhelming force can rack up some stupid silly damage as well.
Hyper torps? What are those? Looks like I may need those. :)
The full name is Romulan Hyper Plasma torp and used correctly its very powerfull. It stacks well with Overwhelming force which triggers per hit and each time the hyper fires that's 3 Hyper torps.
Speaking of torps, since you seem to know a fair bit...any idea what generates projectiles named something like "rapid heavy plasma torpedo" (I may have the first 2 words out of order)? I've seen them in use a fair few times during this mirror event, which makes me think they're either a new item or some new modification to an existing item.
Hmm... are you sure it's not a HY version of the rom Rep torp? that or maybe the torps from the console on the Malem?

Pretty sure, since I don't recall seeing it much before, nor do I recall the word 'rapid'. Visually, when used, it looks/seems to work like the hyper-plasma, which is what makes me suspect it's just some new(er) set bonus or piece of equipment providing a new firing mode.

The ship is missing an innate ability it had on TNG. The ability to instantly explode from one Phaser Beam hit from a Galaxy Class Cruiser. Not canon. ;)

Okay, the 65 million dollar question is...

By "custom bridge and interior" do they mean like with the Voyager interior sets with a full layout or do they mean like the D'kora, where you have the bridge with a doorway to another room behind it that has the dabo table, Trader, and mail/bank access console?

Have a look at this video from Zefilms. You can see many of the new interiors. There's a bridge, of course, a cargo bay, med bay, bar, corridors and an engineering room.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=lwv70N1jd90

Speaking of interiors, will we ever get the rest of the Origin interior for the Feds? Better yet, how about custom interiors?

edit: I should also point out that consoles on some bridges are scrolling or moving when they shouldn't be i.e. the center console on the TOS bridge.

Isn't it the old fashion romulan or reman 3-piece space set combined with HY romulan hyper torpedo?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Speaking of one-off ships that would be interesting to see make it into the game...

The Tarellian Plague Ship from the episode Haven...

That is a nice looking ship. It appears to have borrowed assets from others too so that could probably be more easily done than something completely brand-new. I'll have to watch that episode again LOL.
