Exchange bargains? Dramatic price drop?

dykerasdykeras Member Posts: 326 Arc User
I was moaning in a previous post about the trait 'Scramble fighters' costing 385Million credits, well went to have a look today and bought one for around 300 Million ! Such a huge price drop? (And saved me months of saving up)

I was tempted to buy another one and re-sell it once people start using the new Carrier Prize ship, then I searched and found a Jem Hadar Escort Carrier (the ship I want) for 280 Million!!! I'm sure last time I looked it was around 3-400 million? so saving for that :-)

So, is there any in-game reason for such price drops? Knowing my luck i'll save up for the Jem Hadar Escort only to find the price has shot back upto 300+ million :-(

whenever the next infinity lockbox comes that trait will be worthless. i thought it was already but i guess not yet?

Well, unless they add it this time, its only available on a Doff pack, i'm waiting for the infinity lockbox and the infinity r&d too...

It isn't a lockbox trait. It'll be in the infinity box when the Delta Alliance DOFF pack is retired from the C-Store and added to the lockbox tables.

Are you speculating the Delta Alliance DOFF pack is set to be retired from the C-Store and put into the lockbox tables between now and July's infinity box replay?

300 million EC is still past my reach right now, but I just keep building up my EC.

Some of the price drops are likely because of people selling things they were holding on to use as trade fodder for things above the old Exchange limit, but now want as liquid assets to be able to buy higher end things with the new higher Exchange and EC caps, like 'Promotion!' pack ships (1.3-1.5b EC).

We just had a Doff 20% off sale, so maybe there were a few picked up by some who bought the Delta Alliance Duty Officer Pack.

hmm maybe not. it's my mistake. I do see it will be 2 years old this July so I guess it's also not impossible if they want to make way for something new.

    I don't even pay 300M for a ship, let alone a trait.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Scramble Fighters was always a weird one. Seemed to appeal to folks who absolutely swore by the effectiveness of their pets, irregardless of measurements of productivity.

Well, as I am new to the whole 'Carrier class', Scramble fighters I was told by my Fleet would be invaluable, especially with the pet buff and carriers seemingly becoming useful.

Anyway, with the Risa new ship being a carrier, I am thinking the low price Scramble Fighters will soon be bought up and re-listed at a higher price... shame I don't have any spare EC :-( .

Pretty much this, if it's not in the Z store list I don't bother even if it's a ship I'd really love to have like the Connie or D-7.

I so wish the consoles I'm after would only cost 300M. No matter, 7 down 3 to go. :)

I've never even seen 300m in my bank accts. Then again I don't go out of my way trying to mass ec. I just take what I can get with vendor trash and the occasional good exchange saleable things.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Well, while it might be a Zen to EC conversion, a number of the people buying it for those EC are opening the Packs, hence chances for 'Scramble Fighters' to drop. You could be even luckier and get 'Attack Pattern Delta Prime', which goes for even more on the Exchange.

Of course this would not hold true if these are treated as part of a 'perpetual motion machine', where it is bought and relisted higher and bought and relisted higher, etc. If Packs are never opened but just sold and resold, you would not get further inventory.
