Gold Spamming via FRIENDSHIP INVITATION

Gentleman

Most of us dont like to TURN OFF permantly the Friendship Invitation.

lfMV1Ji.png

MY QUESTION IS
Why are we not able to say
that we want Only
FRIENDSHIP invitations
from other Players
over LEVEL 15 ????

i mean the function shoud be not to much work to implent in the options menue
and will stop that spamming mud in a couple of days

LET THE SPAMMER HAVE THE WORK TO GET THEIR ACCOUNTS PLAYED OVER LEVEL 15
so we have a better handeling to hit them with the ignore function.

OR GET SOME PAYMENT FOR SUCH A QUESTION say , let all friendships invitations pay 500 DIL
it is easy to get and will also stop spamming without blocking if you send an honest one

what do you think....

if we are in a kindergarten full of little crawlers , and the telephone is used to call the fire department every day...
do you not think the personal there will put the telephone on some higher place to get the little crawlers away ?

so why we sit and watch the spamming crawlers here without do some Reaction....!

TURN IT OFF !

INTELLIGENT CREATURES DO NOT ASK
THE WHOLE GALAXY AT ONCE FOR FRIENDSHIP !!
ALL OTHERS HAVE TO BE BLOCKED

I just click the X on those windows. It leaves the request in never-accepted-or-rejected limbo, thus they can't send another.

That doesn't work when they are creating random level 1 accounts. Each invite is a new account.

    Oh, that's who it was!

They caught my female Catitan just as she beamed into spacedock. Bloody quick aren't they!?
They must be using some other method as they got me inside a solo mission.

True, but it's better than rejecting them and, while I'm sure they're constantly creating new accounts to replace their banned accounts, they don't have infinite accounts.

I just hit ignore. Doesn't happen to me often enough to be a major pain, then again, I don't visit social zones very often.
I get much more gold spammer PMs, "report spam" on em, no problem. Again, doesn't happen enough to be a major pain, takes about 15 seconds max of my time when it does happen. I got better things to do than let minor annoyances bother me.

When I manage to actually play every day, spammers might cost me a whole minute of my time per week. That's a lot less time than it took to post this message explaining why I'm not all that bothered by them lol

Just keep clicking ignore indeed, and perhaps report them.

Oh and people are usually quick to say that reporting is useless because they will just create new accounts, but that's not the full story. Many of these spam e-mails and requests are sent by accounts that have to be over a year old (since they don't have the #xxxx numbers in their handles).

So they're either not reported often enough or nothing is done with those reports, but it's simply not the case that they keep creating new accounts.

And even if they did, that requires more effort than just clicking the ignore and report buttons. Let them create new accounts, if they don't have anything better to do... it probably requires more effort from them than from us.

I loved the one that interrupted my tour yesterday. The jerk cost me Nimbus by 3 seconds. The goldselling spammers owe me 25,000 ec.

I just had one today interrupt my hoverboard race right as I was about to get to the flag. Almost sent me out of bounds. Thankfully I was still able to get to my finish flag.

Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

It is what it is and this is all it is. Gold Spammers would not be anywhere near STO without a market available to them. Yet somehow this always gets overlooked in threads like this one. Some players in any MMO will use Gold Spammers as a way to circumvent the game's acquisition process. Someone I met recently offered to, "hook me up with a guy", when I mentioned I really wanted a T'Laru. Told him no quickly. I still want the T'Laru but I don't want it that bad. He pointed out no one would ever know. I replied with there would be at least three people who did. Along with anyone willing to do a serious data dive into the account server.

But until they have no patsies/cheaters market available to them, all one can really do to a Gold Spammer is place them on Ignore

This are some good ideas @toraknu.

Tho as a fast/temporary solution i would want a friend invite block option without becoming anonymous.

We ignore lots of cryptic mistakes and bad decisions. There is only so much we can ignore ... asking the devs to limit new acounts ability to spam or at least give players a turn off friend invite its not that much. I dont agree that players should be the only ones that take constant abuse and be left to deal with it alone.
With the last updates the devs improved much of the game, fixing this damn spam should be done fast to keep that good grove going imo.

There is no report button on friend invitations. Only on ingame mail. Best to do with friend invites is to decline or ignore them.

perhaps restricting the ability to make friend requests to say level 10 and above might put a dent on them.

I don't want to, but how do I disable friend invites ?

I've been spammed with these since the mirror invasion event started and made the mistake of accepting one. Took hours of googling to find out how to remove the bugger from my list. Sad that they're driving me to reject all invites, might as well turn them off forever. Nobody wants to be my friend anyhow. *sniff sniff.

    Console commands?

Ya, I couldn't find a way thru the ui to remove a friend from the friendlist, so I had to use a console command to remove him. I would guess there's also a console command to disable friend invites, but I haven't looked. I had hoped someone already knew how to do it, and share the info.

    To remove a friend is /Unfriend player@handle

How about making so that you can only make a max of 2 friend invites per hour.

If you really want to add more people at once as a friend you can send their handle back to yourself vie internal e-mail and take care of it.
