Temporal Bridge officer abilities?

dykerasdykeras Member Posts: 326 Arc User
Just purchased the ouroboros temporal raider but no clue which-if any- temporal Bridge officer skills to use?
I have searched forums but all I can find are websites describing the skills but no one detailing if they are useful or not, especially on an Escort/Raider.

All abilities in the game are useful if used correctly. Just read the descriptions and decide what sounds most interesting to you and then try them out. It's not like boff powers are expensive, just buy what sounds cool and if you dont like them, buy something else.

Anyone want to give me a Temporal Heavy Dreadnought pack? I'll be your friend :D

Unlike most of the other hybrid specialization ability sets, I consider Temporal to be 'dud-less', with all powers having decent utility for what they're supposed to do. However, there's also no stand-out hugely great abilities from Temporal either, hence the lack of 'you have to get X' for Temporal. I agree with gilion, just grab a bunch from the training vendor and play around.

Though keep in mind that temporal powers are on the sciency side, to make them shine you really need some decent sci stats and consoles in the raider's 3 sci slots. Research lab consoles would be great for that.

Thanks for all advice, as i'm a Tac capt'n, I won't be using Science stat consoles but I guess I could use recursive shearing?

Stick on recursive shearing then blast away

That's a pretty decent ability, though I haven't messed with it much since S13 dropped. Should be pretty good on large targets where lots of people are going to hitting it, at a bare minimum.

    Really?

Just reading the skills makes it look like there is one important consideration: You need to pick at least one Entropy Builder, and probably at most one entropy consuming skill.

Channeled Deconstruction for example: "Entropy applied every 2 seconds".
Rapid Decay is a finisher - "All entropy removed from target".

Yeah, the needing of 2 abilities (Builder and Spender) are what is making me mostly ignore the Temporal abilities...

I was looking at the Lobi Husnaak Warship and it has a Commander Tac/Temp seat! So to get the best temporal use out of it you would have to sacrifice 2 Tac abilities - a sacrifice I don't think is worth taking..

The builder/consumer dynamic is actually pretty small surprisingly. You will get more damage or heals out of things by doing it, but it's not huge. Channeled Deconstruction does damage on its own, even though it's a 'builder'. Entropic Redistribution (consumer) will still do damage even with no built up charges on the target.

So, on an Escort/Warship type ship, which 2 abilities wold best suit?
Maube Recursive shearing as a builder then maybe Rapid Decay?

Go ahead, give it a whirl. I would only hesitate on abilities that require you either make a manual yourself (which requires Dilithium to make the PADD, and having enough Temporal Spec) or buying off the Exchange, instead of just buying from the Manual vendor on your homeworld. In which case, try the combo at a lower rank before committing.

To kinda re-state my last post, you can just ignore the builder/consumer stuff if you want. Also, depending on the rest of your setup, it might be better to just use regular abilities instead for the most part, and only dip into them if you feel there's a gap that one or two Specilization hybrids would fill. Post-S13 Temporal abilities got a nerf for the most part, so I don't have much experience with them as they are now.
