I tried all the suggestions in this thread and none of it worked. still "patching" with no visible progress. all ctrl-x does is casue the launcher to freeze.
Also having this problem. It starts, does anywhere from 1-8mb, then locks up taking days to complete IF it ever makes progress.
On Demand Patching: Disabled in 2010
Make sure files aren't set to read only: Was still off from my most recent reinstall last fall
Run as Admin: Absolutely no difference
Disable Windows Defender Autodetect: Windows Defender is off by default on my systems
Disable Antivirus Autodetect: Tried and tried and tried
Run as Admin with Autodetect disabled: Same as the first
Reboot: Nothing, despite repeating all of the above
My last experience with Cryptic "Support" for this game left everything unplayable for months as they continued to reply with the same form letter despite my responses showing their form letter they loved to repeatedly send was not solving or improving the issue, so I'm hesitant to waste my time trying as I feel based off of months of silence with people reporting this issue they again have no clue.
In addition, I force verified. Force verify ran cleanly, finding no errors and again the launcher locked as it hit download. I temporarily relocated the live folder in order to confirm it was not an issue with a game file, but the launcher's download. Attempting to start downloading the entire game again experienced the same issues, thus the live folder was returned to it's home
I tried this game before because I wanted to play a good Star Trek game. Had a patching problem then and never even got to create my character(s).
I decided to give the game another chance last night and have the same problem with it. Sent a support ticket = no response other than an auto generated e-mail.
If this is such a common problem, the developers need to sort it out because I bet they lose many players because new players can't even get into the game for the first time. I play LOTRO and have tried WOW and had no problem with getting into the game with them, so I don't understand why this game is so difficult to load.
I'm having a similar problem... The first time I tried to patch the game, I got to 3.1% before it stopped loading. I exited the patcher, and reopened it, and now it won't even begin loading..... What do I do?
yea i tried same thing but it did same thing to me at 10% so whats the deal?
I too, am stuck on patching. Turning off On Demand patching at least made it break through 5.7%, but after that, it just stutters horribly, locking up for a half-hour at a time. Switching to patching proxies makes no progress at all.

I was trying to install the game. I was stuck on patching. I think what happened is I closed the launcher during a patch and when I came back it couldn't resume. My solution was this.
I navigated to my install directory: D:\Program Files (x86)\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live I went inside each folder and deleted all the files there. Once I did that I was able to get the launcher to start patching it all again. Remember to kill the processes before you try and delete these files as they are locked by the hidden. exe.
Hope this helps someone.!! :#
I wouldn't try this if you have been playing for a while without backing it up first.
