Having found no better subforum to post this (this came close) looks like I'm posting it here.

Where to Get
Here!

Click the top-right icon that looks like a down arrow pointing at a line to download the entire zip. Requires Java 5 or newer.

Overview
This is a utility to make Tour the Galaxy maps quickly. Like the above thumbnail, but bigger. (click to see full size) Note that no attempt at auto-pathing is made with this program, this is for people who have a route that they like, know what gear is required for it to work, and want to make a map that they can share with others.

I call it STOStuff because I might add other tools in the future. Since I'm somehow better at programming than drawing in a paint program, and I hate repetitive tasks, I decided to make this.

I worked on the initial version posted exclusively to Reddit for about a month on and off, mostly off. Three days laterThree weeks later, I finally bothered to go down my todo list and fix a bunch of stuff. Now the program's way better.

Features
  • Upgrade-proof: Can edit the base configuration if Cryptic changes the galaxy map again. ("Waypoints" tab)
  • Metadata to tell people what items/skills/ships/abilities they need to use a route.
  • Multi-faction routing.
  • Freestanding points can be added.
  • Many ways to get from A to B.
  • Auto-calculate how many points users can hit with your route.
  • Open source! (source code is in the zip)

Instructions and Licensing
Instructions are in the readme. (readme_and_licensing.txt)

Licensing is Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. If a way better suite (that's actually a suite) wants to incorporate TTGMM into their program, go for it...just give me credit.

Known Issues
  • Counts will be wrong if "all" faction and a specific faction have very disparate routes.
  • Might glitch on Mac or Linux. It's built off old multi-platform code of mine but I haven't verified *nix compatibility in over a year.

Version History
VERSION 1.1 (here)
  • Freestanding points whose names are changed will now change the names of all that share that point.
  • Arrow indicators for directions now appear along routes.
  • Anti-aliasing is now turned on during export, but not while in edit mode. (except for a couple things)
  • Systems are now labeled, drawn below the path of course.
  • System colors are now explained in the legend.
  • The program now remembers your image export directory.
  • Add/Insert is more user friendly, with graphical indicators so the user remembers what mode they're in.
  • New multi-add option lets you just click from point A to point B, to C, D, E...continuously making a path until it's disabled. Each segment gets a basic configuration, which users can edit later.
  • Fixed a bug where it was built for Java 8.

VERSION 1.0 (here and jar fix)
  • Initial release, only revealed in a post on Reddit.
  • Only contains TTG Map Maker.

It shouldn't. The rules are only against malicious programs, and others have written programs in the "Player Guides" forum. Like this thread that has a downloadable calculator.

It doesn't reverse engineer anything or even require the game to be installed. It just doodles on top of an image.
