So Thomasthecat lead artist on ship design and UI for STO, has made a separate twitter to serve as a "canon if you want it to be" in unvierse publication about ships and such in STO.
I wanted to share his posts about the Husnock, because they seemed rather interesting.
Note, this has a lot of pictures so I will be putting them in spoiler tags to keep post size down
#JNISpecialReport from Laurentian Bureau. We can confirm that C&C systems of derelict Husnock warships have finally been cracked!
These large, powerful warships are relics from the Husnock Ascendancy, a star-empire unknown to the Federation until 2366.
First contact between UFP and HA was violent: A Husnock warship attacked and destroyed the Federation colony on Delta Rana IV.
The U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) surveyed remains of the colony. Public records show no survivors, but some data remains classified.
A data recorder recovered from the colony shows the attacking ship that would later be identified as Husnock in origin.
The U.S.S. Merrimac (NCC-61827), in a follow-up patrol of the region, found a Husnock colony world eerily devoid of sentient life.
Using star charts recovered from the deserted colony’s computers, the Merrimac was able to map the extents of the Husnock Ascendency.
A small task force surveyed the other worlds in the Ascendancy, only to find them abandoned, save for populations of alien slaves.
Slaves reported that the Husnock simply disappeared, vanishing in the blink of an eye. Holographic data from multiple sites supports this.
These slaves organized into several factions - some worshiped Husnock as ascended gods, others determined to rise above their oppressors.
Timing of the disappearance of the Husnock is troubling to some conspiracy theorists, who speculate it was retaliation for attack on DRIV.
While UFP faced similar accusations after Genesis Incident, no evidence exists that it would be able to spontaneously vanish 50 Bn people.
Ultimately, Husnock seemed to have been aggressive and brutal, with heavily armed starships - all of which were now floating empty in space.
While the UFP moved quickly to offer aid to survivors, pirates and speculators rushed to Husnock space to salvage what they could.
Starfleet and KDF also sent technological survey teams and patrol squadrons in an attempt to crowd out “unstable political operators.”
While some useful recoveries were made, by and large the computer systems of the mainline Husnock warships were impossible to crack.
Eventually the gold rush subsided as private interests moved on, leaving hundreds of potential prizes abandoned and adrift.
Recent exposure to a variety of advanced Iconian systems has led to key advancements in computer science, unlocking the Husnocks' secrets.

And OH MY GOD, a crew number appearing after all this time! Thanks, Thomas!
