It's come to my attention recently that the Bajor map is in need of updating. The new lighting system has made it impossible for a day/night cycle to exist, and this has created a raft of issues for the game.
A proposal came to me for how Bajor could be fixed, and a small but compelling story arc added to further enrich STO.
To wit:
The Bajorans are a hateful, fractious, and violent people. Why not add a short story about rival hate groups on Bajor starting a war of mass destruction, resulting in all the population centers being destroyed and the surface being rendered uninhabitable?
Bajor could be updated to be a map of rubble, with the lighting a consistent dim twilight, some mix of the sun's rays trying to penetrate a thick layer of particulate matter in the atmosphere and terrestrial light from burning or glowing ruined cities.
Captains could travel to Bajor and help survey the damage, and take environmental readings to determine when it would be safe for people to go live there.
If the developers wanted to extend the story later on, there could be a small arc about terraforming the Bajoran grave world to make it habitable to Cardassians, with an aim toward turning it over to them as reparations for the Federation's role in the Dominion War.

I would like to add this as well: as a part of the war between the rival hate groups, one group developed a doomsday weapon that would genetically target and kill all members of the Bajoran species. This weapon was only intended to be used in the event that they're defeat was imminent, because they would rather die(and take their enemy with them) than be forced to live under the slavery of their enemy group.
This genetic weapon could spread via anyone who visited the planet until it eventually infected all Bajorans in the game.
It could be a fun event kind of like the recruitment drives with goals for the playerbase to meet. Different levels of infection.
Interesting!

This is getting old. Let's propose something new instead. Like bombing the sh*t out of Ferenginar. Or make an episode where we see them destroy their own planet while, I don't know, emitting some sort of gases in their search for short term profit that will slowly destroy their atmosphere.
Those ugly, capitalistic narrow-minded creatures have no right to exist and this would be a nice way to get rid of them. It'd be as fitting an end as the Bajorans destroying themselves in a religious war.
And the Cardassians already did something similar I believe. I'm sure you guys can be more creative and original (also than me )
I would have suggested walls, but they tend to build bridges to counter them and live under.
Why is this in General Discussion, by the way?

Well there's still cultures without those technologies. Which the Ferengi are happy to exploit therefore.
Ehm, I mean, which they're happy to assist in their development by bringing trade and such to those cultures suffering from backwardness of course.
They're not really unlike the Cardassians if we look at their * cough * good motives. Q may erase them, but I still like the idea of bombs. The more violent, the better right? At least that's what I got from the OP's proposal.

I don't know why this is getting so much hate, seems like a modest proposal to me.

Keep in mind replicators do not create stuff out of thin air. They need the required base (molecules? I don't know how far they break stuff down) to reassemble into whatever you replicate - they are just transporters, taking apart and reassemble stuff so you need to have resources to use them.

And it was things like this that got what's-her-face banned from the forums.
Also, while we're at it, let's bring some hard-core isolation by way of trade interdiction to those fun-loving Risians who foment anger toward the gentle inhabitants of Ferenginar, whom, I might point out, are very lucrative customers for those aforementioned swimsuit-wearing socialists.

Says the person with a sigpic that looks like it's literally designed to hurt other people.
Good idea. Although I think it could be more agressive. I believe that was the original intent. Isolation alone won't destroy Risa or its inhabitants so I think we need to look for more draconian measures.
Something along the lines of 'if what's yours is ours, then what is ours, is yours'. This could then be used to unleash all sorts of plagues, bad weather, diseases, deep-frozen Breen etc. on the Risians. Depending on where the visitor is coming from ... and what he's suffering from of course.
