Vesta pack or single multimission + other ship?

postinggumpostinggum Member Posts: 1,117 Arc User
Would I probably regret not getting the pack at the next discount event, or are the toys, traits, kitbashing and console variations just not worth it?

Every time that I have not gone all the way, I have regretted it later. Either get the whole pack, or don't get anything at all.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

If the traits on more than one look like something you'll use then go for the pack option.

If there's a sale on then bundles or packs aren't bad.

You're essentially buying the same ship three times as the differences are usually a pretty minimal slot and console. Admiralty wise they will only differ by the special which tends to be +x to tac, eng or sci when alone depending on which one it is.

If you ever consider picking up the other consoles and traits; wait and get the pack. Saves in the long run.

    Depends

    Pack:
    -3 Admiralty cards versus two
    -Customization options
-3 Starship traits versus two (if not useful now, opens up build options in future)
    -Choice of console/boff layouts

    Pick ships:
-Precise control over which variants you want most
    -Split choice between different classes/factions

I've picked up a bundle and slightly regretted it as not being worth it, and I've also picked up individuals ships and later regretted not buying the bundle for one or more customization options, traits, and layouts. It really depends on what you need. If you've got a science character that you use regularly, then the bundle's going to support it pretty well (and give you something to think about for mixing sci ships with non-sci characters.) But if sci ships aren't really your thing, but you still want a T6 Vesta, then you're going to be better off picking up a second non-Vesta ship which you'll use over the long term.

I picked up the t5 Vesta 3pk when it came out but kind of moved on, other Sci Ships I like more.

For the T6 round I went with the Gorn MM Strategic vessel. I like the Exotic Particle Shielding, and it's Tachyon Console is cool. So if you went with only one I would suggest the Esquiline.

I noticed they had one with a decent trait, one with a decent console and the other one. My feds have one T5 Vesta. Come the next ship sale I'll probably have 9600ish, so it could be Vestas all round or one for the feds, one for the roms and another ship for one side.

I have the Lukari and Krenim sci ships, fed sci has Paradox, rom sci has Daemosh and both have the ugly temporal multimission. If the temporal came with faction skins and specs I'd probably not bother, I hate to have roms in non-cloaking ships.

On paper the re-balance favours HECs, so was considering getting the rom T6, despite pilot seat, if not the cross faction pack.

I personally started saving my money for the whole 9-pack.
Because, i'm really interested in geting those nice Sci ships for my toons.
And the consoles while not that great, are still very nice...

Also - i'm actually fan of Packs - i got most of them - now i'm saving for Multi-mission 9-pack and Escort 3-pack.
I have many alts (16 or so), so account unlocks like Zen-store ships are best for me.
But normally i wait for sales - 20 or 25 (for last Black Friday) percent sales are very helpfull.

The only pack i will never get is Romulus Legacy (the big one, i got the starter one)
The Steamrunner and Andorian Kumari - i'm waiting for T6 version release, then i will get them too..

If I am honest, whilst the consoles and traits are nice I am not a huge fan of packs. Certainly, in the case of the Vesta line (and the Flagships) you wind up with ships that can potentially use six universal consoles (three from the T5 line and three fro the T6 line). Six universal consoles isn't really practical though - you have to sacrifice too much to have them all slotted.

Do you own the T5 Vesta line? Would being able to use the consoles from the T5 variant have any bearing on your choice?

Im in the same boat. The T6 Vesta pack is worth it if you run Rom and KDF.. On the FED side..you ''might'' find other sci ships that better work for you ..unless you really like the Vesta class (they have some great set bonuses).

I LOVE the T6 ROMULAN MMSV's..THe Consoles just freaking rock if your an Aoe kinda person. Plus they look cool.

I don't really buy 3-packs anymore. I don't think it's worth the Zen as I will usually only use one of the ships. The other two end up in dry dock, if they are not immediately discarded after claiming them for the Admiralty cards.

And since we're talking about a Sci ship, I would consider anything with less than 5 sci consoles unnecessary limiting so that means that one ship almost certainly ends up never being used. That's just a waste of Zen to me.

That being said, I bought the Brigid only because I already had one of the T5 Vesta's. I might have bought another T6 Vesta for extra customisation options if I didn't have any other T5 variant - but the Vesta is kind of an exception here. With any other ship I wouldn't even have considered buying an extra ship just for customisation options.

I would say it depends. If you are going to buy 1 ship for each faction, then buying the full mega pack is worth considering. If you toss into the mix the fact that you like to have at least two of the ship traits and / or consoles, then I would say it is definitely worth buying the mega pack.

Personally, I do not think any of the ship traits are "must have". However, I do like the Isometric Dispersal Array and the Radiation Bombardment Matrix consoles. The Romulan versions definitely are the most interesting designs. I would likely buy the mega pack, but there are a lot of other ships currently on my shopping list so the earliest I would buy this mega pack would be next year.

I recommend waiting until the next ship sale before you buy the ships.
