Any word on getting an update to new romulus? Like finishing the construction for it.

Legacy of Romulus was the best update they ever did since I played this game. The Romulan ground zone isn't going to change. As far as a Romulan ESD/Starfleet Command we have the sector space Flotilla and Command Center on the planet. Be nice to see the Reman section but I double that will happen given the lack of players/funds/development team to make it a big reality like larger games expand.

The only group that will ever see big changes are Feds and that's cause Cryptic has a history of putting the biggest populated faction first over it's other factions for updates unless it's joint content benefiting the largest faction.

The planet was found and construction started sometime during in the middle of 2409.

Players do not actually participate in helping with construction on New Romulus until sometime in 2410. The mission Cold Storage officially marks the moment in STO that the timeline has advanced to 2410. The New Romulus mission arcs takes place after the Breen Invasion story arc.

The "Of Signs and Portents" mission marks the time when the year has advanced to 2411. Therefore, it can be assumed that thus far it is currently January 2411 in the game.

This basically means New Romulus has been under construction for less than 2 years and your character has been helping out for less than 1 year. It has taken 7 real years for the game to advance 2 two years.

Personally, I do not think New Romulus will progress any further. Unless there is some type of expansion that heavily involves the Romulans in the future in order to justify the time, money and resources necessary to expand New Romulus.

I hope someday they will expand the staging area and let you explore the Reman sector!

GECKO also said this would never happen.

And, IIRC, he even mocked the very idea of it saying it will happen when they make a "Legacy of Remus" expansion, in a very sarcastic way.

It's attitudes like that which make this game what it is today. Not a content driven game but more of a whale feeding game since they drive away players with remarks like that.

Also, there is the RL problem with the idea. New players who are just getting to that point would still need a new Romulus in the early stages of exploration and construction, and a large amount of game content involves New Rom as it is right now.

At present we already have two different version of New Romlus. The Dewa III a Rom Captain first encounters, an integral part of the Romulan story arc. Then you have the current New Romulus, with a lot of story built around it as is.

Updating New Romulus would mean either a drastic rewrite of existing story lines, to include explaining how a planet that has just started being colonized is so far along already, or it would require the Devs to create yet another version of New Rom, only accessible to players who have completed (or skipped) all of the current New Rom story line.

But the best explanation has already been given. Rome wasn't built in a day, and New Rom isn't gong to be completed in just a few years. Actually, story wise, it is quite amazing that New Rom has anything beyond a bunch of tent camps at all yet. The Federation, the Klingon Empire, and both "sides" of the Romulan Faction have been pouring all of their resources into major Galactic wars pretty much since New Rom was founded. Sparing the resources needed to build New Rom up as much as it has been already was a vast undertaking, and likely hampered the war effort by using resources that should have gone into the war.
    LTS and loving it.

No, because it wont happen, because its only been not even 2 years, in game time, since they first started building it.

    Not to mention we already
    -Found the planet
-Found the Sword of the Raptor Star
    -Analyzed the plant life
    -Analyzed the animal life
-Analyzed the unique radiation on the planet
-Assaulted the secret base that the Tal Shiar were using to harass the city, and captured their new leader
    -Drove the Tholians out
    -Found the Iconian gateway
-Saved the planet from destruction due to the gateway being rigged
-Protected the planet from the Iconian's assault during the war

There isn't exactly anything left for us to do there.
We could have a romulan ale kegger in the woods. ;)

I could go for just a slow progression of new romulus, with the world/zone being handled kinda like defera and the borg invading version of Defera. In which basically you have two/three instances of the world that are dedicated to a mission set, and than maybe have the second one being the a actual adventure zone, which would be phased that as you complete the content/specific missions it than phases you forward in the construction of New romulus. Though it would need to be a slow progression, like you would use small updates expanding an opening up an area with new quests each year (like one area of the entire zone of new romulus). In this way it would still remain that we have the story version of New romulus, and then having a actual version of new romulus that does progress, but does so at a reasonable and realistic rate. I could see the process of completing a full on expansion of the New romulus zone in five to six reallife years thru these small scale patches that would happen during low content periods.

It's a mystery to me that Reman are a C-Store unlock, yet we can't even enter the Reman area. It just screams "Use me for future missions".

As for the ground zone, I think it should remain the same for the new players that go through the arcs. Maybe another zone, but elsewhere on the planet for those that have completed. Which could also mean more Romulan/Reman orientated missions that can be inclusive to all Captain's.

Well, one thing they could do with NR is stop the unskippable cutscene from playing every time we visit. Or, you know, make it skippable.

The New Romulus Adventure Zone cannot really be updated/advanced because of newer players that are/will be playing those earlier missions.

It's doubtful that we'd ever see something like this, but I'd imagine that the best way to do it, while still preserving the NR Adventure Zone, is to add a completed city map accessible by captains that have either completed the Romulan Reputation Track, the New Romulus mission arc, or reached a certain level.

New Rom is fine other than I wish we have the option to skip the cutscene.

Its a long one and gets a tad tedious watching it for the 30 plus time. All my toons that completed the rep that travel to New Rom with the missions now placed in with Feature Episodes list have had to sit and wait for the cutscene to end again.

THat or as I thought mark it that the adventure zone phases, for your personally as you complete missions, while still giving you access to maybe the older map for the missions it has. THis would keep the zone intact for new players just starting it, but also give the players a sense of progress even if it were a slow progress admittedly. Both a map that is locked till you progress in missions or rep level enough, and a phased type of system for the map would both work in their own rights, though also both might take the same degree of work an investment to impliment (though a phasing type map feature might have other useful uses in other areas too.)

Well two things. The first is we will never see a completed New Romulus. It will take forever with those lazy, yawning Romulans we have to keep admonishing every time we get there.

Secondly, LOTRO did exactly that with Isengard. Go there originally and when playing early Missions and Raids and it is all in one piece. After later Missions post Ent attack and the place is destroyed and flooded. Depending how you get there you see a different place.

I totally wish that they'd make a rebuild zone available.
Maybe make 2 instances like Risa. One that is new and would be completed, the other old one for new players who have not finished the episodes dealing with it.

That's really too bad, would have liked seeing a new social zone which could be joint by new romulus command by taking the shuttle elevator down so it doesn't split Rom faction any more than necessary. They could make it into a feature episode that doubles as a major social zone to go along with some new Reman ship, that way their precious federation still gets content while enticing feds to buy and play more by trying the other factions.

We do not need another social zone when all the others besides ESD, New Romulus Command, and The First City, are near constantly dead all the time.

    Stop. Think. Try again.

Perhaps you should listen to your own piece of advice and actually read what I wrote.
