It blows up on your computer?

really? Let's just ignore the mission text, the massive explosions on the way out, and our own ships blowing up, most from full health if the don't clear the city ship.
Yes nothing to see here, just move along!

    Good:
-The time it takes is decent enough to allow for multiple toons to run the event. Far more enticing than the 15+ min slog on the original one.
-With lighting 2.0 it looks amazing, it really does.
-It's probably one of the most interesting maps they've created, nothing else like it in the game except for the Vault mission.

    Bad:
-The trench run is just a case of 4 players follow one BFAW spaming ship down the path. There's literally nothing else to do if you are not running BFAW in this section and at the front of the pack. Might as well send the fastest ship in solo and everyone else go afk until prompted to meet at the entrance.
    - The "direction" markers really spoil the look of the place, same as with a lot of the clutter that blights the space ascpet of the game.
    - There's some odd effect/sound lag in the part where you need to escape the Fortress.
    - There's not a lot of actual fighting in this now. There's only one room with enemies if don't count the main core or the hardpoints outside. Very little for people to actually do.

One this really needs to be pointed out for the newer players - - - - DO NOT SHOOT AT THE SECONDARY CORE WITH THE "?" MARK!!!!
Geez...the number of times I've watched pugs do this endlessly and even seen some guy raving in chat about the mission being broken. All shooting the fake core does is slow things up and hurt the whole team.

The AoE static/Eletric field from blowing up a false core is easily countered by science team. But I feel you on the temp loss of momentum. Also you dont even need bfaw just a fast pilot ship to zoom down the run, the trench run looks cool, however so I vote keep that.

You don't shoot things during the trench run. :) You cloak, hit any speed boosts you have and race to the end ASAP. Destroying hardpoints just slows down the mission.

I've never really been of the opinion that content exists in the game with the intended purpose to be skipped by all players.

If they put it in the game, then somebody somewhere intended for it to be used by the players. Workarounds and bypassing are all well and good, but they're just that, workarounds and bypasses.

I personally don't find it very much fun to simply fly through the trench run not doing anything just to get to the rally site/breach point. It's boring.
Flying to the end of the path is not a "workaround" or a "bypass." Last year, it was the best way to advance the mission, now its the only way, because as others have already mentioned, the shortened path doesn't have enough hardpoints on it to reach 100% anymore.

Oh, well, if it's fun for you to stop to shoot pointless things go right on ahead. Whatever floats your boat. Fortunately, only one person needs to get to the end of the path to move on with the mission so someone else can handle it.

i like the new version but the only downside is the escape route, last time it was fairly easy once you got to the first hatch it was a strait run and just one left turn and you were out there were also guidepath arrows to help if you got a bit disorientated.
with this version there are far too many twists and turns to get snarled on especially if you are using a fairly large ship and no guidepath.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I miss the Hangar Part. I liked the rush to help the ship and the mop-up. I think that was more fun than the Secondary Core thing, which is probably intended to be like a small riddle, except that riddle is BFAW/petspamed away accidentally.

The trench run is kinda fun, but I still haven't figured why I sometimes get fast and sometimes it takes forever, and it serves no actual purpose, since everything you do there is optional. The few extra marks are not really worth pursuing. (Especially not for an event where we do it for the special reward instead of the marks.)

    1. Be sure to watch the mini-map for an arrow pointing the way once the crystal goes bang.
    2. Check the floor for lights that glow in a pattern indicating direction away from the area.

The Good: Shortened completion times means running it on several alts is no longer as excruciating.

The Bad: It's still a Beam FAW or GTFO mission. Cannons simply can't take out the hard points while doing the trench run given just how fast you're going, while BFAW melts everything.

To paraphrase the "Balance" dev blog, using Cannons during The Breach is the "wrong" kind of fun you're allowed to have.

Yes, cannons can't hit the hardpoints...but that's no longer a requisite, so none of my toons even bother. First person to reach the external breach site allows everyone else to go there, so I just gun it for the rally point. Breach queue trench run was never really the ideal for cannons, and I can't think of a way to change it to make that so.

The first part seems broken. Even when we skip the first part, we get the credit for finishing it. When we actually try to get 100%, we can only get about 60% - 70% before reaching the door, but still get credit for finishing it.

I really prefer the longer version that you had last year much more. I guess it's quick and boring with only two rooms to go in now so it's over faster but the other rooms were much more fun. I really miss the large docking bay with the big ship you had to fight in it.

Sure, that version's more fun if you're doing it to enjoy the mission...but there's a reason most of my toons have only 3 or 4 tokens worth of progress in the project.

You can actually go out the top as well, same side. The bottom shoot is (I think) slightly quicker but heading back through the core room works too.

Risan Corvette maximum speed build makes this queue short so 1 player can run that trench to the door like a maniac. Now if someone would start a thread on how to maximize speed like a 14 year old minmaxer, that would be awesome.

Here is a vid I made the last Breach event. I could have gone faster and made the turns better. I think the pilot escorts are faster than the risian corvette.

On one of the eight runs I did so far today, I entered the trench went in a bit and then the pop-up showed up to rally at the breach point. I was the first in the trench.

Can you scoot around the side directly and get to that breach site?

It would have been more interesting if they made it less of your do the entire trench run in the start, and spread the trench run throughout the stf. Like that you first find the hanger-bay door to destroy an gain access to the interior of the ship, then proceeding to the hanger-bay, afterwhich to the three-generator room, and finally arriving at the main generator room. Though in the corridors leading to the three main rooms you would have a trench-run like corridor section, this would divide up the long trench run into three shorter sections, as the much longer trench run can be quite boring with how long it is in one go compared to being divided up like this. Could also do it that you have a mixture of interior an exterior trench/corridor runs between the three rooms, but in either version it would retain the fact of the trench run just not the fact of doing it in a single shot ike in the current an prior versions.

Another thing i would not have minded seeing would be having two variations. Like a shortened version for those that seek quick runs, and then a full run version like the original version for those that like that type of content. If they adapted the rewards to vary for the different lengths, as well as reward players for playing the longer version with high rewards along side maybe a additional event item, or just a special set of rewards that are exclusive to the longer version. Though I personally just like the idea of having many quick short stf versions, while also having longer versions for those seeking longer or the original rendition of the stfs. THis could even be done like a weekend type event, that as an example you could run the old borg stfs in their original form (like having to do the space an ground missions back to back).

I wish after all these years that people would learn not to shoot the fake cores, but that's not on the dev team.

This is still the most irritating part of the Breach for me. Maybe they could change it so that the damage from blowing up a fake core only effects the ship(s) that actually attack it?

    Science Team guys.
Its the same debuff you get slapped with by the Frigates when they do the decoy thing. Science Team clears it.

The Breach is back - so what do you think? Are you having fun? Is it working correctly? Let us know here!
The first part of the mission is silly for a multiplayer mission. Its effectively 1 player fly’s down a preset straight path which involves no skill or turns off while the others wait for that 1 player to fly from point A to Point B. Completely boring and a waste of time both for the one player flying down a pointless path and the ones waiting.

You have removed the two best bits of the old Breach and kept the worst bits. Closing the hanger doors section and blowing up the big ship inside where the only two fun bits of the old Breach.

I don't have a problem with it being shorter but something about the flight path feels awkward in this new ones. The older one felt much better flying though it.

Could try having one person fly low and another fly high to try and hit as many hardpoints as possible. So far I have never seen anything over about 65% on that optional. And I've been through it 8 times now. Running 4 characters each day. And yea... if you wanted a SPEED run then have your fastest player just zoom through without bothering to attack anything. I've only had that happen once though.

I can agree with that the trench run is not ideal for cannons or torps, though in the end even if you make it more viable to use cannons an torps on it Bfaw is still the best option. I like the idea of not starting with the trench run, but instead starting with us finding the hatch to blow up an gain entrance, while than fallowing with the trench run thru the corridors we take to the different areas in the ship with the hard-points lining the four walls, even could add it as we escape maybe as well. Like that you have these shorter trench like runs thru the corridors between the three main rooms (hanger, tri-core room, and Main reactor room), and the hard-points are actually how we open the door to the next area (or the escape hatch to exit) after the voth begin to close these bulk-heads between the chambers when we break into the ship. THis would condense the hard-points into a smaller corridor and spread along it, which would make torps an cannons more viable for their much more narrow an forward firing arc.

I've been studying the Trench run and am trying to figure out how certain players get so far ahead of me to trigger the rally site message.
If I try to fly straight and through, the game causes my ship to slow down as it passes over the power unit with the turret ring.
I've tried every method I can think of to fly through the trench without slowing down, so far, nothing has worked.
    What I am overlooking?
