How do I become a space pirate??

Just out of curiosity, how can I become a space pirate in Star Trek Online?? There isn't much to the kdf side of the game so... anyone know how to pirate stuff??

Essentially, the game caters to the KDF, Federation, and the Romulan Republic. We don't have an outside group, though you can RP as a pirate using the tech available from whichever of the three you choose.

Fly a lobi or lock box ship, buy a non-faction costume, type YARRR MATEY! in chat, drink many bottles of wine or ale while on ground missions.

The closest you are going to get is to play as a KDF or Rom-KDF captain, and do the various marauding and military Doff missions to related to raiding an pillaging. It's probably easier to do as a KDF from a role playing perspective because each House has it's own starships (except for very minor Houses I guess) and your character could be part of a rogue House that prefers to plunder than be apart of any alliance.

    Aren't we all pirates anyways?
We warp in, blow everything up and take whats left behind.
Also get a bunch of nausicans because of the "pirate" boff trait.

Purchase the mercenary costume and then focus on making your selected bridge officers look a bit different. I have a Female Ferengi Fleet Admiral whose primary away team members are a Photonic Tactical Officer, the female Liberated Borg engineer wearing Seven of Nine's silver catsuit, a very rare quality bald Vulcan Tactical officer that I've got wearing a Mirror Universe outfit, and my lifetime membership android is a male designed to look like a Cardassian (and he is wearing the mercenary costume).

I believe that this group would look like a pirate band to you, not that it was my specific intention; but I planned them as a rogue team.

There is a doff that generates gold press Latinum with each kill. That makes me feel like a pirate, sometimes

Please... Tell me more about this DOFF...
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

You get him from the episode "time in a bottle" in the middle of the iconian arc. Great for places like the dyson bz or kobali prime.

Wouldn't mind being a pirate lol Too bad you have to play what they tell you to play.

Wonder what development team took the RPG out of MMORPG?

You are playing a game with the wrong IP.

Space pirates do not have any significant presence in Star Trek. They only appear in a few episodes that are basically fillers.

Ferengi in a Ferengi ship works for a fed. Refuse to wear Federation uniforms.

Me, most of my toons are Privateers in the service of the empire.

Orions engage in a fair amount of piracy.

The third faction really should have been the Ferengi instead of the Romulans.... so much potential there :D

You are right. IF they did add space pirates as a playable faction, you'd probably get 5-6 quests then just start on the Federation quest arc LOL

BUT what if I wanted to be an Engineer and design ships? Or a doctor on Earth Space dock? They're part of Star Trek, right? I can't. I am made a starship captain 5 minutes after graduating Starfleet academy LOL

Eye Patch, Vaudwaur Jacket, Nakhul Sword, and some kind of Compression or Bolt Pistol, or even Dual Pistols.

I also have a dual pistol wielder sporting the Vaudwaur Jacket, but in place of the eye patch I'm using the facemask part of that sets helmet. Makes him look look Star-Lord. In fact if you ever spot him click on Inspect. His bio states: "I am Star-Lord!" The character is pretty fun and flies a fully upgraded APU Cruiser that has completed its starship mastery too.
