returning player .... what to do?

Returning to the game yet again and am relearning the game. I played my Tactical Romulan-fed toon up to lvl 52 so far. send my duty officers off on random missions when available (don't really pay attention to what they are doing just keep clicking begin).

Where are the best places to continuously space battle for exp to get to 60? what else should I be doing at this stage. still trying to get my space tactics down right now so I stop dying. I just got a Romulan pilot tactical ship which is pretty cool. I have cannons in the front and 360 turrets in the back.

Just looking for some pointers and what-to-do lists from you savvy veteran players!!!!

    Honestly, the best way to progress through levels is just doing the story missions. Some of the later missions give access to some items and weapons that are actually pretty useful.

    Are you running reputation projects? If so you will need marks for those daily projects, you can get the marks from the Borg and Tholian Red Alerts. Each one has a 30 min cool down so you can run a Borg and a Tholian alert, do a story mission or two and then do some more red alerts to build up your mark pool. The rep system will also give you access to some pretty nice gear.

    You can also look into joining a fleet, you can get some nice ship consoles, ship weapons, and ground gear through your fleet.

    For just leveling up though, the best way really is the story missions. They will push you up in levels and they're all pretty easy so you're not going to have to break your neck. Don't worry too much about your end game gear or final build until you hit level 60, right now just play through the story and hit the occasional red alert for some Dilithum and marks and you should be fine.

    Are you doing Admiralty? It gives a lot of XP

    Borg red alerts now give you Omega + your choice of a second kind including Lukari. It's a good way to earn some XP and the marks you need for the reputations. Crystal Catastrophe Advanced is a good way to get Nukara or Fleet marks.

    I normally level to 60 by playing the story missions + doffing + admiralty + some red alerts, not by grinding queues or system patrols.

    for quick space battle fun(and ship mastery) I find Argala Patrol(part of the Delta Rising Arc you can replay) and Japori Patrol(just SW of Romulan Flotilla) provide some quick in and out fun with decent vedor trash returns and ship mastery returns
