Vesta model update?

Apologies if this has been mentioned already and I missed it - I scanned through all of the pertinent threads, but didn't see a mention of this.

I know that the new T6 multi-mission explorer fed ships are interchangeable with the T5 Vesta parts, which is awesome, but I haven't seen anything that indicates that they have updated the old Vesta model to be a bit more in line with the current level of detail that they've been striving for with recent ships.

Has anyone heard anything regarding this? I'm very likely going to scrape the Zen together to pick up this new pack, but if they've updated the old Vesta, then I'm going to do it as soon as possible - rather than wait for any sales that include this pack.

Thanks.

They don't need updating at all. You can't tell anything is off when mixing the T5 with the T6.

I guess I thought it was Vesta-Aventine-Radmaker Bundle that helped set the current standard for more highly detailed starships going forward.

Agreed, not sure why anyone thinks the T5 models need an update. They still look great.

I always thought that the Bellerophon set the current standard for level of detail, which came out in 2014, while the Vesta (along with the other two ships) came out in 2012 (I think). Every ship since the Bellerophon has far more detail on the hull, and the Vesta always looked a bit "flat" to me for some reason. Seems to me that almost every other ship that they've released a T6 version of has also had an upgraded model - even if the original model was newer than the Vesta ships, like the Odyssey for example - so it doesn't seem like that odd of a question to me.

But I guess I'm in the minority on the look of the original. The Vesta is one of my favorite ship designs, so maybe I'm a bit more picky when it comes to it. I like the Titan a bit more...and that model looks horrible, so here's hoping that they get around to updating that one too.

Personally, I think most of the ship models from the early years are in desperate need of upgrading, especially the starting ships. They're the first thing that new players see and they are by far the worst models in the game.

    Anyhow...thanks for the responses.

Not that your question was a bad one. It wasn't. I was recalling things differently is all.

IIRC, Bellerophon came to the C-store in 2011. Vesta came out with release of the 2014 Legacy of Romulus expansion. Which, IMO, was a turning point from the Art Department in general. Including the starship models. Although, I was pleased with the quality of the Bellerophon model. And felt it didn't get a fair shake due to it's tier. And had to take a backseat to the Pathfinder-class regarding it's contribution to the game story.

I agree with you that the Luna needs some Art Department love. Perhaps with the TNG anniversary this year, the game might visit where more of those characters are by 2411? Titan needs a retro-fit and the excuse to polish the original art. ;)

You're right, the Bellerophon came out in november of 2011. The Pathfinder was the Intrepid variant that came out in 2014, around the time of Delta Rising.

The Vesta came out in November 2012 (Season 7 sto.gamepedia.com/Season_Seven:_New_Romulus) with the release of New Romulus (not the Legacy of Romulus expansion, which came out in May 2013). Which makes it even weirder to me that it doesn't seem up to the new standard. I get that it's a rather simple design, but it seems to me that there's a lot more on that ship that is just texture and not actual 3D build-out on the model, which is unusual compared to what they've been doing recently.

It's pretty difficult to really nail down which ship it was that started the new design trend honestly. If I remember right, the Pathfinder was the first ship with the type 7 texture, and that seems to be a good indicator of the new level of detail in my opinion.

But I agree that the Bellerophon didn't really get a chance. I love the ship personally, but it being a T4 did sort of bury it once the T6 flavor launched - though the Bellerophon is hardly along in that regard.

I'm really hoping they do something...anything to commemorate the TNG anniversary. Obviously the Galaxy has been redone and retweaked to death, so I doubt there's much more they can do with variants to that class. So maybe Titan and the Luna class will get some love. Who knows.

I can't understand how you think the skins for the Vestas are substandard. To me, they are very detailed and way above the level of the old order of ships. I bought them at release and my main had been flying the Rademaker until yesterday, when I bought the new ones, and believe me, even though I've mixed old with new, you cannot tell any difference in quality.

Using my T5 vesta i decided to take a closer look at the T6 vesta looks as the images are sometimes hard to get a picture and, wow.

All i can say is im so glad i didn't jump at their purchase the hull is overweight and the saucers are nothing to scream over did like the necells over the originals but no way am i buying a ship just for that.

Put a Vesta next to a Nova and THEN tell me that the Vesta is poor quality.

Like I said, all of the early ships could use an upgrade. But I'm sure it'll happen eventually. If they can update the Steamrunner model of all things, they'll get around to updating the Nova. It's a nice little ship, and there aren't enough of those in the game.

Really? I was goofing around in the ship customization UI and was pretty thrilled with what I saw. So many choices. But everyone has their own tastes. I used to hate some of the ships designs that have eventually become my favorites.

aye i realize its just my opinion and others will like it, but to be honest for me the decision to purchase the ships was based on looks alone as my T5U is still going strong.

But i do love the Romulan multi mission ships and since i have no rommie sci currently i may get one or all of them.

heh...I actually hate the Romulan designs. I mean, I love that they have the Vulcan-style ring in there - that was pretty inspired, but overall I'm not a fan of the design.
