Why did torpedoes get a silent nerf with the latest patch?

All of my torpedo boats (especially those with distributive targeting) are doing considerably LESS damage than they were doing before yesterday's patch.

Torp boats already had a major disadvantage (in terms of DPS) compared to FAW beam boats, now it's even harder to compete with beam boats in a torp boat.

What the heck is going on here, devs?

Do you intentionally just want every player to use beam arrays and FAW and fall asleep while playing?

Please consider embracing the traditional Star Trek concept of Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations (IDIC) ... this game benefits from VARIETY.

Again, even BEFORE the patch absolutely NONE of my torp boats did as much DPS as my FAW beam boats in a PVE queue. NONE. There is no justification for a nerf to torpedoes when energy weapons already have a huge advantage.

I had to work hard (and spend a lot of in-game and real-world currency) to build torp boats that could do "reasonably" well (as in 40K-70k in ISA while a FAW beam boat does 130K-200K). Now my builds are doing worse and I'm justifiably angry because I feel like I've wasted time and money trying to have a variety of play options in this game.
