Message in screenshot just means it forced your client to run in Direct3D 11 mode. If it's running now, you're fine.

I don't know but it has ruined the game for me. Ever since I changed it to Direct 3d 11 the game has been freezing almost every single time I change maps. It's almost impossible to enjoy the game this. I have to log back in constantly. Isn't this happening to anyone else?

Check the "Reduced file streaming" setting on your PC / laptop it is in the Advanced tab of your options. If you have only 4GB of RAM, then this option should be turn off.

The purpose of having that option on is so that STO does not swap data between RAM and the hard drive which can improve performance. If you only have 4GB of RAM, then when too much data is trying to be load into RAM, the game will crash. This is especially the case when you are using integrated graphics because it uses your system RAM, leaving less RAM for the game.

Thanks, I will try that, but I have something like 32 gb of RAM, I'm running a brand new gaming laptop. There is no way it can't handle STO. Even my old computer ran the game better than this though. Maybe I'll put in a ticket.

For me, Direct3D 11 appears to have similar issues that 9 had back in the day: memory leakage. As far as stability, overall, it's stable enough for me to run using Windows 7. If you have Win7 or better, you will want to change out to 11 ASAP so that you can get use to it; otherwise, you will not be playing STO once they force the change. If you are one of those people who have an old system, time to buy a new one, even if it is a refurbished computer that runs Win 7 from Ebay or some other discount store. If you don't, it was nice seeing you. By the way, can I haz your stuff? :p

Ok short and simple come next month STO will no longer support DX9 , if you have DX11 you can easily set it up ingame in your options.

You will find it in options under i believe display (could be wrong on a pain med atm )
anyways whrere you toggle your fullscreen options.

You will s the pull down on the top just pull down and set it for DX11 then hit apply and voila your all set :)
