I insist they do this change because it kills rp. Bridge officer chairs need to be empty of npcs

When deleting all my bridge crew in the hopes of emptying the seats npcs are summoned into those two chairs with the galexy bridge. I am sorry but they need to be empty of npcs. I think a lot of players would agree and that they need to be empty give us the abilty to have the npcs or not. Filling all the chairs.

Hmm, the npc unforms is something they could do as well. make it so they wear certian eras like tos or next generation or seirra or oddesay outfits. That I can see them do with the npcs in the ships interior allowing customization of that. As well as allowing us to free up all bridge officer chairs so we can use the bridges for ourselves and for rp events. I do think it would make the ships interiors more used by players.

They can't even show the right pop-up picture of one of your Boffs that is talking to you some of the times. It won't be pretty, that's for sure.

    Seriously?
You did play the game before having any of your own Boffs, right? Those NPCs you're pointing at are the starter BOFFs.

I have no idea why anyone would want an empty bridge ... personally I just want to be able to pick what seat a given officer uses. However, on my AoY toon I'm using the TOS Connie bridge on my NX-Refit and, somehow, all the bridge officers are in the correct seats ... though it is a bit odd seeing two MACOs at the helm, lol.

    ah.
I forgot what I read in his title since he completely left it out of his post.
    He's a Roleplayer.
In other words - he's NOT interested in the game. It's all just props for his spotlight...

A "bridge seating" tab where I can set up with boff sits/stands where (or just order the spot to be not filled) on the bridge? A tab where I can select the crew uniform of the no-name NPCs of my ship? Yes, please. That would be awesome :)

Especially the first one; bridges should be a showcase for your boffs; and I still have random no-names hanging around on some stations regardless of having enough boffs of that profession that fills the spot.

People actually still go inside their ships?

    Nuts.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I am all for having an area where more of your boffs can be seen. So a conference or recreational room with all of them summonable would be great. (Not all automatically, since some would have their turn to sleep). Maybe next to a pet room, where all your summonable pets frolic around...

I would also like to get random crew assigned uniforms (kinda like three tailor slots for Tac, Sci, Eng or similar) so that your boffs don't stand out as much if you prefer not to.

I *insist* however that this is not the most pressing issue of the day.

OP's "request" is a small one to some of us. But obviously it is very imporrtant to him/her. Otherwise he/she would not have phrased the post that way. Points out something, though. Since his/her request was not something some people care about, like broken combat pets for example, these same people belittle it as unimportant. OP is still a part of this Community. Granted he/she could have been a lot more tactful/ But then again, so could the rest of us.

He said he deleted his boffs in order to try to empty the chairs in his ship: "deleting all my bridge crew in the hopes of emptying the seats".

He's wants an empty area to Roleplay in from what he's saying. Or something to that effect from his title and post.
Didn't there used to be a rp server somewhere for that junk? can't remember.

Im more bothered by the fact they arrive in position via transporter...

They should be map loaded before you arrive.

At any rate, I use my small craft all the time for the account bank. Bridge, not so much. That said I plan to buy the Miranda pack for my AoY to use on her Excelsior and Heavy Cruiser. Always liked that bridge, just no justification to buy it. I have bought a fair number of bridge packs, even though I seldom use them.

My experiences with the roleplaying community IN GENERAL ACROSS GAMES has been largely negative. For example, in LOTRO, if you play on the RP server (Landroval) as an elf, and you cannot carry on an in-character conversation in Sindarin, you will be ostracized. Doesn't matter if you are a RPer or not. In SWG, some of the RP in cantinas was pretty raunchy, as it often is in Quarks. In other games, it was similar things, from just downright raunchy language and behavior to elitism. But, that wasn't the majority of RPers. But enough to give the whole demographic a bad name.

Solution? Again, as I have suggested before, an RP tag/command that would allow RPers to enter an RP instance of an existing social zone. Quarks for instance. However, this should not exclude tools already in place that I think a lot of RPers are forgetting. The Foundry can be used to recreate just about any setting in Star Trek. If the devs could work with the RP community, they might be able to find a means to integrate the Foundry better into their events, to include ship bridges sans filled bridge officer seats.

It's sad that people look down on roleplaying so much, especially since the hobby has been in existence since the 70s and has had millions of fans over the decades. And yet, in a game that has Roleplaying Game right in the genre title, people treat roleplayers like freaks. It's not cool.

I imagine the OP wants a clear bridge so other players can take the appropriate seats and play out scenarios as the proper officers. One plays as the Captain, one at helm, one at weapons, etc. Perhaps even there's a GM giving them the scenario with a dice rolling program and set of rulebooks on PDF in other windows. That sounds like a pretty cool concept for a gaming group, to me. But then again I played RPGs when it was all pen and paper and imagination, when you created your own stories and actually roleplayed your character. Now that sort of thing is looked down on while all the action and visuals are spoonfed to us and we don't even bother with character immersion.

I think in all the advances in gameplay, we've lost something from those old days when all we had were books and imagination.

I am all for roleplaying for those people who like it. Also in MMOs it's fine with me even if they don't have the words "roleplaying" in them. Also, enjoy your LARPs, as long as you do not flail your swords at the unsuspecting public (had that happen once).

But what is understood as an RPG on a PC is to many parts different from what is meant by "roleplaying" here. And the former uses some stuff, which, if detrimental to the latter, cannot always be taken out.

Now if the OP would just have asked whether it would be possible to have an empty bridge setting that'd be fine. But somebody who starts with "I insist" - well, apart from politeness phrases ("You go first" - "No, I insist that you go first") this is just something some five year olds use, stamping their feet on the ground. Throw in some "they need" without a qualifier "for me" or similar, making it an absolute truth for everybody, and I can see why reactions to this particular request are getting harsh. Agreed, it's not an excuse for over the top answers, but kind of an explanation.

My guess is that they called the entire staff in on Sunday to get working on this and there will be an emergency maintenance patch first thing in the morning.

Thank you for saying this. My sentiments exactly.
Sometimes it hurts my brain to see just how much the forum has devolved. Once upon a time it used to be at least somewhat useful as a place for sharing ideas and having discussions about anything. Granted, there were many heated debates as well, but that what the CMs and Mods were for. Nowadays it seems one can barely make a post without being ridiculed, no matter the form of expression or the general relevance of the topic.

I just don't quite understand the idea. You want to roleplay the position of captain of a starship - who leaves essential roles unfilled during duty hours?

There should always be someone at the helm in case of the unexpected; there should always be a comms officer on duty because Command isn't going to send a text to your cell phone deep in the Delta Quadrant; basically, all the ship's departments should be represented at all times. If it's not your department head in the seat, it has to be someone.

(Reminds me of a moment I had forgotten about from TOS. In the episode "Balance of Terror", at one point Kirk has to send the navigator, Stiles, down to Phaser Control to assist there. He has Uhura take over the navigator's seat, as Nav is also in control of firing weapons in this episode. Lovely moment there, as she just casually shuts down the comms board and slides into the Nav seat like it's not even a thing.)

Well, I bought the galexy pack of bridges, two of those bridges have two seats on the left and right of the captains chair filled with npcs. That is what made me angry i bought that with zen yesterday. Its a new charater I made that I deleted the bridge officers to see if I can empty the seats but what really made me angry is generic npcs feel the seats if you have no bridge officers. Thats should not happen at all and ruins the point of the bridges alltogther by empting them, they would find more people rpers buying the bridges.

Honestly, so long as nobody's typing graphic descriptions of sex acts (which shouldn't be happening in a public place anyhow) then it's appropriate for adults to have adult conversations.

If one does happen upon players doing public ERP, then pop an amplifier and do the running man (preferably in an EVsuit while listening to Men Without Hat's Safety Dance). :P

One does not roleplay alone, so I imagine s/he wants the seats empty so other players can take the seats and play as the officers on those stations.

And do what, exactly? There's nothing in-game that can be done from the bridge 99% of the time but...stand or sit on the bridge. No combat, no repairs, no sensor scans--not even a freakin' cup o' tea from the yeoman while you sign the latest whatever-the-heck it was Kirk was signing for all those episodes. You wouldn't need an STO sub to just sit around and RP something else--there are online environments where you could set up a starship bridge and just RP that way. Trying to do it in STO is crackin' walnuts with a bulldozer, IMHO.
