Undiscovered Lock Box

So far I like the ships in this lockbox. They seem to bridge the gaps between TOS, ENT, and TNG/VOY/DS9 by combining multiple ship features from each generation into one cool-looking ship that actually looks like something the corresponding faction would have made between TV series. What do you think?

I'm super pleased. This marks the first time since the original Temporal Lockbox that I've actually wanted any of the ships offered. I'm already squirreling away EC to get my hands on the Atlas. Incidentally, I've also kinda been wanting to roll a second TOS toon, and the Atlas is exactly the ship to make me go through with it if I can snag it.

Fun fact about the Undiscovered Lockbox:

When you find one, it becomes a Rediscovered Lockbox.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.
My Ship Builds: USS Conqueror, HMS Victorious, HMS Concord, ISS Queen Elizabeth, Black Widow III

This is so good, I really can't tell if you're not being serious.
Either way this will be my new headcanon when I find these new lockboxes! Thank you very much!

    I am being serious.

The simple fact is that the prefix "un" is misused all the time. You see that all the time applied things that simply cannot be UN-done. For example, the word "unborn." You cannot be UN-born. That is not physically possible. Once it is born, it is born. Because birth has not yet occurred, it is non-born.

And then, you have uninjured. UN-injured means you were healed, either by a doctor fixing you, or your body repaired itself. If you were caught in something, but not damaged in any way, then you are non-injured.

Another example is how Tuvok kept answering tactical questions by saying "Unknown." Obviously, you don't know the answer. But the only way it can be UN-known if the data was wiped from your computer. So, the correct answer is "Nonknown." Or you could simply say "I do not know."

Calling something UN-discovered means that it had already once been discovered, and known about, but then forgotten. Therefore, finding it again means it is RE-discovered.

So, you speaking of something UN-discovered means you are speaking in terms of referencing a myth or legend. For example, me talking about El Dorado, or Atlantis, I am speaking of something that has been lost to time, or an outright myth. There is no way to know which is the truth, so it is therefore listed as "undiscovered."

Then, if it is finally found, and confirmed to be real, then you have just rediscovered it.

If you mean something that had not yet been discovered, then you need to use the prefix "non." Therefore, you have the "Nondiscovered Country" and "Nondiscovered Lockbox." This is obviously an oxymoron, because you are looking right at it. In this case, you would need to reference it as "non-explored," because no expeditions have yet been attempted.

It is simple English, yet so many have no idea how to use it correctly.

So, in terms of this Lockbox, it is not Undiscovered, because you already know everything about everything inside said Lockbox. It is very much discovered, and known about. Just call it the "23rd Century Lockbox."

I would only have two suggestions one is related to the pulse phasers which are awesome. They look so close to the TMP phasers. The only bone to pick is the animation needs to be slowed down for that cinematic effect they had in the movies. Hands down they are still the best looking phaser blast.

I am hoping whoever does ships will eventually reskin the TMP T2 Constitution and TMP Miranda T1. (Not asking for a T6) Just a simple reskin to make it as majestic as it was rather than the poor low res look it still has.

@lindaleff The lockbox is called the "undiscovered lockbox" because it refers to the sixth Star Trek movie. Wether or not "the undiscovered country" is correct or flawed English, that's what the movie is called. The lockbox is not un- or nondiscovered itself, the lockboxes have no "in-universe" explanation, they break the fourth wall so to speak.

I just wish the new environmental suit came with a costume/tailor unlock. The lockbox description/ad on the arcgames site shows at least three different appearance options for the lobi suit, but after I bought it there is only ONE appearance option and no tailor unlock ... so I can't make my character wear the suit unless I replace my armor and I can't make any of my bridge officers wear the suit via the tailor either. :(

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Yeah aside from the Galor and D4 Bird-Of-Prey the dreadnought is the only ship I really want to get my hands on. Still short a few hundred million EC... :(

    You are being seriously wrong.
    un-

    1. a prefix meaning “not,” freely used as an English formative, giving negative or opposite force in adjectives and their derivative adverbs and nouns (unfair; unfairly; unfairness; unfelt; unseen; unfitting; unformed; unheard-of; un-get-at-able), and less freely used in certain other nouns (unrest; unemployment).

And in parts, hilariously wrong...Tuvok should've said "Nonknown?" That's not even in the dictionary.

Intersting observation, it makes the lockbox even better.

Same - I like the look of the 23rd Century (Federation) Dreadnought that I sold a stack of keys I had been hoarding and purchased one from the exchange.
I had originally hoped to trade said keys for a Temporal Light Cruiser but unfortunately anyone trading said ship wanted more keys than I had, and I actually like the look (and stats) of the Dreadnought enough to take it as a happy compromise.

Haven't used it yet though - main reason for obtaining it was for my AoY char to use, but said char is only a Commander at the moment, so a little longer to wait! :P

I'm a bit irritated at myself for passing up a 389mil listing for the Atlas. "It'll keep dropping" I told myself. Come today, nope, back up to 430mil. I'm debating just grabbing the cheapest one next time I log in and eating the difference. I know I want the ship, so it's not like I'm afraid of wasting the EC on something I'm unsure of, it's just I sold a lot of keys I bought with IRL cash and I don't want to bankrupt myself of EC for a single-character unlock ship.

I said all that to say this - gratz on snagging an Atlas! Can't wait to get my hands on one, just gotta make some decisions about what kind of AoY toon I wanna roll for it...

Just for a hint, the "23rd Century Tier 6 Dreadnought" choice pack may be cheaper than the faction-specific subboxes, because that's what most people are selling.

The lowest I've recorded the choice pack on the exchange so far has been 370m. And it will keep dropping.

I wish the KDF Dreadnought was just a little better. 6.5 turn just isn't enough for DBBs or DCs, making it a Beam-boat only. Rather disappointing, but ah well, guess I'll be buying a Keldon instead.

    *slaps forehead*

Thanks. I discovered they were selling for 349mil when I checked a minute ago. I am now a proud owner of one of these boxes!

Now to make some decisions on that TOS toon...

Personally, I can't wait for the Discovery Lockbox, which will likely debut at the 12th Anniversary Event.
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Prices are dropping now. I got mine this morning for 326mil. I have to say I really like the ship. It is far more maneuverable than the .8 turn rate led me to believe. And it looks great.
