Launcher won't start the game.

I have been trying to start STO for the past hour. Each time I start the launcher, I log in, but I never get the Engage button.

It just sits there saying "Version ST.70.20161113a.35."

Then, I get the CrypticError Oops box that says "Your Cryptic application has crashed."

You are lucky. I cant even load the launcher at moment.
Server access , connecting to the game servers is TRIBBLE here in Australia on Optus network..
I have no issues with ANY other game or web page etc.
I easily watch streamed movies etc.
Just TRIBBLE servers on game side..

Same Problem, now 6.48 pm here in Australia on Optus network and still cant launch game, just stuck on Crypyic Launcher Autoupdate trying to connect and dropping out after 5 attempts. All other internet Activities work fine.

I'm sorry to hear you guys are having this issue especially the Australian's here, I am only on Spintel and fortunately am not having any issues playing the game, but I have had it running all day and haven't attempted to close and re-open the game but I won't risk it just in case.

I wish I knew a solution to it. Perhaps you could try temporarily moving the whole game out of the main folder, then delete the launcher files, and then re-download it then place the game back in the folder right after.

I'm having the exact same issue - as of 2 days ago I am unable to launch STO as the game crash's upon launch. I've been playing the game fine for months, till 2 days ago when it suddenly started crashing on launch.

So I am able to get STO's launcher up and click "Engage" to start the game, the Cryptic loading screen comes up and gets somewhere between 50 & 75% and then the game crash's. Cryptic error program pop's up and wants to submit data, but it never succeeds no matter how long I leave it.

Not only that, but the game changes my screen resolution from 1920*1080 to 1600*900, even though my in-game resolution is set to 1920*1080.

CPU: Intel 6600K @ 4.2
GPU: AMD R9 270x 4GB
Ram: 16 GB
OS: Win10 Pro 64-bit
Video Drivers: 17.1.1

- I do not have issue's launching and playing other online games - such as Elder Scrolls Online, Wildstar, Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, etc.
- I have added STO to the exclusion list of my virus-scan and firewall, no difference
- I have tried 'Safe mode' via launcher options, no difference
- - Tried STO client from Steam & ARC, both giving me this issue.

Note, I've been having trouble making this post for some reason. I originally tried posting this 2 days ago. This is an edited post on 29/01/2015 (my time) to reflect my new circumstance.

I have actually managed to resolve this issue. What I did was:

- Uninstalled STO
- Deleted all STO files & folders found in /Documents/ & /Users/ & /games/ (I install Games in a /Games/ directory, not Program Files)
- rebooted
- ran CCleaner and got rid of all temporary files, windows logs, etc as well as cleaning all registry entries
- rebooted again
- re-installed via the ARC client 'Install' button.
- waited 12 hours for it to download the 20GB for the game
- Note: the install froze/locked-up on me once. I re-booted and started it again, finished the install without another hitch.
- rebooted after it finished updating the game.

Game now launches and runs for me. So if your having this issue... try doing what I did - uninstall the client, delete all STO folders, run CCleaner, reboot the computer, then re-install. Hopefully this resolves the issue for you.
