Another giveaway mishandled

Like the Nagus before it: the Soverign give-away occured to what appears to be random people, with no explanation.

It's like it's custom-designed to lower morale.

There have been some "5 lucky winner" giveaways, and there are "show up and everyone gets"; but give aways like the one they did yesterday (and the Nagus before it) are, well, bad. Not to the people who recieve to be sure, but to the rest of us for whom it feels like a big "you suck" (not to mention people who purchased it with Zen).

Fix this guys. If you are giving away the ship, then give away the ship. Don't do these unnanouced secret "to some people".

PS. Feel free to placate me by sending me a code (Nagus would be even better). Lord knows you have gotten enough of my money that keeping my moral up is likely a good choice.

    Eh. Maybe you feel that way, but I just shrugged my shoulders. I've failed to win enough 'random draw' giveaways over the years that I honestly don't notice when I don't win another one. See a note about another random draw? "Oh, that's nice", ignore it, and move on. No big deal. What's there to get upset about? /shrug

    I was pleasantly surprised to receive this gift I think that's the point to surprise people pleasantly.

    I had already purchased the ship, but the 10 spec points went a long way into getting that pesky temporal operative to finish that third specialization.

    A random giveaway is fine, I'd be perfectly OK with this one even if I had not received the email. The Nagus was a special exception for me simply because of how that particular email was worded, a problem this giveaway does not have.

    I'd give up every single freebie They have given me over the last 7 years (and They have given this player a LOT), if They would just give me a T-6 TOS ENTERPRISE at a reasonable cost in the C-Store.

    This is why in school, teachers would always say "Did you bring enough for everyone in the class?"

    Because it generates ill feelings in people left out. While you'd think adults would feel this less than children, it still is a bit annoying to see someone else get something cool for free and you don't.

    My theory is Cryptic gave it to the good children who learned how to use Search.

    Actually, I've been a very bad child since the very limited release of the T-6 TOS Enterprise.

    I've haven't played the game for more then a few minutes and haven't spent a dime on the game.

    My protest has been mostly silent, but it has made me feel a bit better.

    I am sure if how much you have spent in the game was a factor in giving out this item you would have been given this gift but it appears there was no defining factor, it was totally random, sure it would have been nice if it had been included in the current giveaway event so everyone could claim it but they way they gave out the gift is their choice and they chose to do it this way by randomly selecting players.
    you will perhaps be luck enough to get the next one where others will not.
    you really do need to just look at what you do get for free in the game suck it up and move on.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    I say congrats to those who got a ship. At first I was a tiny bit 'miffed' about finding nada in my email. But than I thought about it and came to the conclusion that I already had a bunch of great ships on multiple toons, I probably wouldn't have used the give away one beyond getting the trait, and its nice that people who may be less fortunate got a ship they may love and use.

    Besides there is always next time. :)

    Since we are in the midst of another giveaway as we speak, I give Cryptic a pass on this. However, it is still pure speculation as to whether this was "random" or not. No one knows what kind of metrics they may have used. Are they Arc users? Do they spend money on a variety of PWE games? etc.

    As far as "whiners, cry babies" blah, blah...I think it is understandable for some players to feel unappreciated or disenfranchised by this giveaway.

    going to ask the the question: Did you turn on your 'receive email notifications' button? If you didn't, then you're not in the drawing to even be part of the lotto.

    This thread is dead... the subject has been driven into the ground on how many threads now? Most of them end up with the OP finding out they forgot to turn on the stupid RECIEVE EMAIL button. :/

    There are even several threads that tell you HOW to do that as well...

    I'll only be annoyed if they ever give away a kdf ship, fed ships are pretty meh to me (unless its a free vesta t6..)​​

    The Nagus give-away slightly onky slightly bugged me because there was no other way to get that ship. But this is a normal ship and some XP token. Nice to have, but by no means worth crying over.

    Not that I even use the Guardian which I never got that they gave out to some. Only thing I wish I was able to get was the Mirror Guardian, just for it's hull deco, who knows, I might have liked the ship.

    first off do you actually have the option in your account setting set so cryptic can send you e-mails including promos cause if it isn't they wont send you one.

    Second do you run around yelling at those who win the lottery cause you didn't random is random i have yet to receive any promo gift but unlike you i dont cry about it cryptic have zero obligation to give anything away be grateful that they do.
