Klingon Ice fishing

How do you make your character fish? I equip the gauntlet, stand over the patch of ice during the fishing session and my toon still won't fish even after I click all my firing buttons to make it fish. The tutorial worked perfectly, but I must be having user error or a glitch on my account because I can't fish after the tutorial is done. It did this on my main toon and AoY alt. Any tips?

This is my first time at Q's WW - all the other events are fine (haven't tried the snow fight yet) but this is the one activity I'm struggling with.

    Couple things to check:
    Did you turn in the tutorial? Are you sure its 100% completed out of your mission log?

    When you stand over the active fishing area, does the gauntlet icon light up? If not, its not an active fishing area. Sometimes I have to hit the button a couple time before the " fishing" animation actually starts. The SLIGHTEST bit of movement will not allow the fishing action to commence.

    If it's doing it on two different characters, that very odd. Perhaps hail a GM during the event, or post a bug report.

    - There are no missions on my tricorder, so I believe it is turned in.

    - The icon does light up when I stand on the ice patch, but I don't know how to force it to activate even after standing perfectly still for a few rounds.

    - I did do a search, but since the ice fishing is relatively new, there weren't many threads on the topic.

    Are your weapons buttons set to autofire? If so that disables the fishing action. When I switch to the gauntlet, it flips the weapon fire buttons overif they are both set to autofire you wont be able to fish so just take one and set turn that off. then press the button for that location

    This fixed it - thank you! Never thought of trying that, seems to have done the trick.
