Try pulsewaves, split beam rifles, anything with a lot of AoE power. if you're doing the Kobali Prime Battlezone, make sure to take one bridge officer specced as a medic.
For space, keep moving, use brace for impact, and quickly shoot down any constriction anchors.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
I mean for space, what weapons and equipment can I use?
For space it's more of a matter of having a good ship build and being mobile. Choose one energy type for your energy weapons and use tactical consoles that boost that type, if you're taking damage quickly try using a neutronium armor console to boost your resistances, and make sure to hit evasive manuvers when they target you with the artillery.

move out of their artillary fields! kinds of weapon are irrelevant, there is hardly a mentionworthy dps diffrence between the types. (well there is, but non that would cripple you in PVE)
get some build guides for your ship.
Broadsiding with a beam boat would be the easy way.
Essentially 8 beams, 4 energy specific tac consoles, weapon power to max and keeping up fire at will as much as possible. Pepper in emergency power to weapons, attack patters, direct energy modulation, a few space traits and you'll pretty much faceroll all the episodes. That is if your gear isn't total garbage. While higher than mk12 really isn't necessary you really shouldn't settle for anything below that as it just gets more tedious with TRIBBLE gear.
If you want to be a bit more creative you can also make use of the ship's 3 sci slots and lt.cmdr universal and top everything off with some sci powers like grav well, DRB, TBR, etc. Just put 3 mk12 (or better) EPG consoles in there and have some fun with it.
Any junk will do, even white mark X phasers. It's the only matter of your skills, not the gear you use.
There is no particulary useful gear to melt Vaadwaur with.
I remember being OP once, hated the space battles with the Vaadwaur and still do.
Big trick for it all is percervience above all else unless you are playing on a harder difficulty there is no penalty for getting you TRIBBLE handed to you besides frustration.
I personally use ships with higher maneuverability against the vaadwar. Some of my ships have gravity well 1 just to try and gather them together for better kills since they copy the Borg with EPTE and try to flee to heal up. My Fed Sci character still rocks the Dyson science destroyer with protonic polarons. But that ship has good maneuvering so getting out of the AOE isn't that much of an issue. BFAW is almost a must have since the Vaadwar like to scatter and hit from all sides.
As for the ground portion, Have the trinity. If you're tac have a sci and engi.
Also, make use of the Intel spec, since it helps against getting flanked and your flanking damage in space as well as ground.
As a former Oddy flyer, Saucer sep is most helpful since it increases your maneuverability, although if built right, you could easily just tank the AOE damage and facemelt them. It's all a matter of how YOU want to play.
If you are looking for hints regarding the Vaadwaur, firstly understand your enemy. It's not about the weapons, more do do with your strategy. The Vaadwaur like to blast their Polaron barrages to take you out quickly, but once they are done, they go into cooldown and they pretty much become benign until their barrage colldown has finished. This is what I tend to do. Fly in fast, that way they'll try to target you with the barrage and miss. When you see the barrage markers appear, use your Hardening/absorbing/shield abilities from your Boffs to ensure minimal damage. Once the barrage has finished, use boff abilities to buff your weapons, and smash them to sh*t and back. If you have any fleet support abilities, these would help also. At worst, make sure you have a "distress call" device available to use. The Nimbus distress call is good, as one of the support ships heals you as soon as it appears.
- Minimize damage taken by setting space traits to max kinetic and polaron resistance, as well as any consoles providing resistances, and upping your damage output (weapon type and/or energy type. You might also want to throw on a stealth console and see if that helps in taking a bit less damage.
- Pilot like a TRIBBLE, and avoid the barrages (those hurt huge). Granted this can be tough in a cruiser (I'm more of an escort player since I love the speed and turn rate).
- Focus on the artillery units, as those tend to give you the most grief.
- Build wise, you can do anything you want of course. I recently switched from beam build to cannon+turret build, and love it (despite the hate I've heard for such a build). Have your tac BOFFs each use cannon rapid fire I and/or II to keep a constant stream of cannon fire going (tears em to shreds in a hurry). Note: This build is best used on an escort class (ir Federation Patrol Escort) with mucho tactical slots. Also, have them each use Tactical Team 1 to constantly provide damage buff and shield management.
