So my main is maxed on all R&D schools. She can whip out warp cores, shields, you name it. But for some reason she still cannot shape a slab of metal into a workable sword. What the heck????
Please give us an R&D school to make melee weapons.

Be interesting to see Romulan's craft a more modern version of the sword they found on New Romulus &/or a unique Reman alternative, along with something unique for Federation and similar for the Klingon's as well. I would not want to see them expand some of the items that are already available like the Nausicaan Tegolar Swords, yet would welcome new item's that Romulan, Federation or Klingon's could each craft in their ground schools.
Yet all items should be bind on equip and freely traded/used regardless of faction. So it does not to repeat issues caused by the old crafting system which offered more melee options, but restricted them by faction.
Ground has the one TR level 15 item and it be nice to see 1 level 15 item added to ground, along with 1 or 2 other items that could be made from Mk II - XII depending if they are Romulan, Federation or Klingon upbringing.
While some races, for example, Klingons, would feel naked without some kind of blade at hand, and are well trained in the use of such weapons, the crafting of those weapons is still limited to a relatively small number of blade masters, and even those current day "masters" can't begin to duplicate the skills of their long gone ancestors, which is why almost every race has legends of a blade forged way back in the past with almost mythical powers, and has spent centuries trying to find said blade.
It would take a massive resurgence in interest in the crafting of such weapons, and a large amount of training time, before there would be enough even half way decent blade crafters available to have one on ever starship.
That being said, I would LOVE to see melee weapons added to the ground R&D, although it would dramatically decrease the exchange value of good melee weapons.....
