Feds getting battle cloak without console or penalty

icsairgunsicsairguns Member Posts: 1,504 Arc User
anybody see at the bottom of the new feddy bear ship ship info. that the feds are now getting battle cloak ability. and without the console slot penalty.

This game just really loves taking from our side to give to them and giving us squat.

This so called alliance needs to end , either let us go back to war or just kill us off so i can find another game . i dont buy or play fed side so i can only see this as theft.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days. Ch'ar%20POST%20LoR.JPG

I am reading this right now you need the 3pc for battle cloak. Not to defend the feds, because I am so tired of seeing there whining for more fed ships on the gen disscussion, but the turn rate on those ships are 7, that is pretty low. Not to mention it can not equip cannons. My point is, if I am reading this right, they need all three consoles to get the battle cloak. If they keep the turn rate at 7, and keep the battle cloak 3 piece only. I do not think we have much room to complain.

This being said they rack the turn rate up to 9 and give them a default battle cloak without any console requirement. They had better start handing out battle cloaks for all klingon ships. Or at the least do what your suggesting.

    Huh?

Sovvy's battlecloak comes as the result of equipping the three piece "Soverign (Metreon) Console Set".

Pop (or not own) one of them pieces out of the equation? No more battlecloak for you.

And if you haven't realized it yet, your glorious KDF is now nothing more than a sarcastic "honor and glory" Fed, because of the "combined story arc".

Therefore, (and for once), may I be the first to ask if I can haz your stuffz as you bail?
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

Well...from a canon perspective, who would want this ship? If you're a fan of Star Trek and not a player who simply wants everything they can get in a ship...then you don't want this ship. Nothing in Star Trek ever showed a Sovereign class vessel with a battle cloak. It's ridiculous. But this has always been an issue with STO...canon is irrelevant.

But I suppose...in the end...who cares? I could care a less if someone is flying around in this Federation cruiser cloaking and decloaking. It has no resemblance to any canon Trek. The Defiant was the only ship with a cloaking device. To want a battle cloak for that ship...that's reasonable precisely because of canon. A battle cloak for a Sovereign...not so much.

They're going to have to pay to get Battle Cloak. 3 console slots is a very demanding price if you're after effectiveness. Not to mention if you're chasing combat effectiveness, the meta doesn't support cloaks to begin with.

If you're a Fed just wanting Battle Cloak on a Cruiser hull then have at it, should be fun for you. The funny thing with the Metreon Gas related stuff, is it's bound tor equire good EPG mods. The Sovereign at any tier does not support a good Exotic Build.

For me, it's going to be like my T6 Defiant. I had it configured at first with all consoles to have Battle Cloak but that hindered her from being a better killer, so I ditched the consoles and put more relevant ones in place.

Honestly I never thought of it that way.
Myself I was looking at the cost 3 piece, and the turn rate. So it did not bother me, that is of course if they do not buff it up before launch.

There is no theft. Not from me. Because I don't own anything I've "purchased" inside of STO. Cryptic and PWI allow me to borrow or rent some things so I can play the game. But I do not hold any copyright or IP license. Although I'd very much like to.

The whole 'overwrought KDF player complaining about yet another takeaway by Cryptic to give to the Feds" thing has been done to death. That ship sailed several years ago. It's a game. It should not be a lifestyle choice. I play my KDF chars and enjoy them much more than I ever did my Feds. I will continue to play them right up to the moment this game goes dark for the final time. But in the end, STO is a game. A not very good game sometimes admittedly. A nerve-wrackingly aggravating game sometimes. If I allow it to take over my life to the point where I'm rageposting then I've lost.

The battlecloak is the 3 pc bonus. Makes no sense on this ship, but... maybe they are out of ideas. The metreon gas canister is a useless console. Definately not worth fitting just to get the cloak.

When I run my Fed I use Mask Energy Signature anyway. It works fine, and I am not worried about them having a cloak. It's not like the Roms aren't giving them access anyway.

My main is a KDF so from that perspective I'll just point out that the Federation has always needed a crutch. If they need three legs to stand up, who am I to deny them their nature? ;)

A 3 console requirement, 7 turn-rate, and an inability to equip dual cannons is a very steep price to pay for battle cloak. You effectively neuter your dps for the the gimmick of battlecloak.

They already GAVE the Federation a battlecloak with no drawbacks-the cross-faction bundle released for AoY. Those ships were essentially made for Federation players to give them the so-called 'advantages' of the other factions, specifically Battlecloaking.

Which ones ? If you're thinking of the Paladin battlecruiser that lasted about a week before the mistake was spotted and they removed it.

    Hammer. Nail. Head.

Thank you @goodscotch , I was just about to say the same thing.

If I get a Sovereign, and I will because of Bridge Commander :) , I'll just get the Fleet Command variant - not even interested in the intel bs, that ship is pure command to me. I want to keep things thematic and a cloaking Sovereign is just plain dumb.

And besides, who cares anymore. There is so much weird stuff flying around that you either deal with it in your head and somehow head-canon and ignore it or just quit while ahead. Besides the metreon consoles are TRIBBLE, equipping those on a standard Federation cruiser will hinder your output far more than the gains of this battlecloak. I predict less than 1% of players will be using it, just as with the Birds of Prey available to Feds.
