Just a basic healer for stuff like deep space encounters, won't be using it for the bigger group content.

Then total waste of cash. Avoid if you are not aiming for DPS.

Well I will be doing dps as a main focus with healing on the side, just not focused on exotic, I just want to know if I'm gonna beable to fit my science team, hazard emitters and transfer power to shields, and is it viable as a dps beams with healing on the side, as the xbox we don't have any other ships I'm really interested in.

In short, no, that wouldn't work this way. The only feasible way to break the psychological barrier of DPS comfort is by making an exotic build. No DPS player will ever run any healing on the side, apart from the DIRE BUTTON or HSE builds. You will waste your EC on a ship that is not properly fitted for your tasks, and then inflict even greater harm by trying to make that Tac/Eng ship work quite well with science. There will be better options.

Unless you use the Lt. Comm Universal for Science, you'll be one Sci Bridge Officer ability short for that exact layout.

However, the Commander Engineer can use the Hybrid 'Command' abilities and there's a rather nice ability 'Rally Point' that plops down a 'ring' in space and every ally in it gets healed while inside it.

I use improved predictive algorithms for clears :). Because BFAW and surgical strikes needed to be even better ;). Looking forward to unlocking superior predictive algorithms in a week or two.

For the most part people are expected to look after themselves. You can use some of your personal heals on other folks, so tossing those their way when you're in good shape can be a gracious play. As to healing from a cruiser... among other things you could just give the shield regeneration team buff instead of weapon power cost reduction. Odds are good any other cruiser present will be casting the DPS-friendly one, so covering the survivability option is kinda of civil.

I'd only really commit to any active off-healing if you have a regular partner who will be playing an escort like a psychotic berserker, such that they do occasionally get scorched, but do so much damage it makes up for you spending clicks keeping them alive.

That's fair. I've still got "evil things you could do with an Archon" on the brain, so working without a net/science BOff is something I want to try out :).

False. Even though it wouldn't be as good as proper science vessel, by putting your sci officer into Lt. Commander slot, you can do solid exotic dmg with it.

However, as OP specified his intent is not exotic dmg, I have to agree with others - unless you're a dedicated healer for a tougher group content, you don't need much heals at all, especially not from science side.

If you want to make your whole build about doing the heavy lifting via exotic damage - setting up your traits, your consoles (a whole three of them being science...), your power levels - and try to run it all through a window just 5 abilities wide... you're doing it wrong. Not "as good as a proper science vessel" in this case means actively bad :).

That depends on what you mean with "actively bad". Sure, 75%+ of your DPS won't be coming from exotic abilities (unless you specifically gimp yourself by removing weapons) and you probably won't do 100k+, but a solid exotic-hybrid build that carries weight in any queue is doable nevertheless.

I think it’s an interesting idea for that ship.

One is limited to three sci consoles and would need to use the lt commander uni boff slot for a sci. Considering how well tac and sci abilities synergize over the temporal spec tree however and we have strategist to keep tac abilities on CD anyway it might work rather nicely.

Perhaps I should give it a try myself, thx OP.

There are folks posting who have way more to offer on this, but I will chime in anyway ...

I am probably odd in that I get sentimental over my T5's. I use most of my T6 unlocks for the Admiralty cards ;)

Anyway, the T6 Connie was an exception and when received it I went from my beloved Recon Sci almost straight over to the new T6 with as few changes in my Boff and gear layouts as I could get away with. Basically I was so happy to get the new ship, and I wanted to fly it 'right now', so I skipped the 'planning phase'. I am tweaking it over time, but none of the process has been dull for me.

Not being a superstar at builds, I still think someone who is a superstar can make a pretty fair test of it, and I think the Connie would be fine. My only reservation to that would be to always consider the possible effects on team mates.

@peterconnorfirst especially, I think you will have fun with it.

    Qapla!
