Is the Plasmonic Leech console still worth getting? I picked it up on my KDF toon, and I'm not enough of an expert to tell if it's making that much of a positive impact. I'm using all disruptor-cannons, and purchased both Drain Expertise (I/II) and Drain Infection in the skill tree. What should I actually be looking for to know if it's worth having over (say) a hull-regen console?

2. Drain Infection doesn't work in the leech. It only works on science station powers.

Offensively though, is it significant towards overall DPS?
Personally, I just started using it to boost my own power levels and drain a little extra off my enemies. I'm sure there are more interesting things to use if you want to boost DPS.
It can provide anything from 10-25~ power for all four systems and that is not something to scoff at if you ask me.
Please explain on it being 'vital for romulans'.
Because Romulan Singularity Cores give less overall power then an Antimatter Warp Core (160 Vs. 200) making it harder to keep levels above 75 to trigger the Amp Mod. Plasmonic Leech greatly helps alleviate this deficiency.
- Adds that last little bit you need to keep Weapons Power at 125.
- Drains power from the enemy so they are not at 125 Power.
- Does not make you taller or better looking. Or smarter.
- Cannot be used to save you from your own stupidity.
- Will not automatically make you a better STO player all by itself.
- Falls into the 'nice to have but not a must have' category.
They're negging you. Don't fall for the trick!
Wait a minute! Are you telling me you need something to make you look sexy?
Yep, the fact that it no longer costs a fortune really makes it a no brainier in any build. Whenever I make a new Fed, first thing I do is pop over to the exchange and pick up a Leech console for them.
Same here. It's still one of the best consoles in the game. It's great that the infinity lockbox has flooded the market and made them more affordable now so that new players as well as old players who have made alts can now afford to buy it again.
Indeed, you still need to press spacebar.

It's a definite bonus for any build using energy weapons a lot. But i'd say if you've only got say a single energy weapon (for a set bonus or subsystem targeting or beam overload) like some science pilots do it's not worth it. If you're concentrating your build elsewhere (e.g. torps, sci magic) you can probably get more useful consoles to fill that space.
