The New Sovereign Class Model

Lots of pics of the new model here and she's looking pretty good. My only complaint is that the shuttlebay area is based on the First Contact and Insurrection variant. Personally I prefer the look of the Nemesis variant, which has arches come off the back of the saucer and blend in with the secondary hull. It forms a cup around the shuttlebay area that I always liked. It makes it look sleek. You can see the nacelle pylons on the new model are based on the Nemesis version, so why not the area around the shuttlebay too? They even added the torpedo launchers above the shuttlebay. Just look at the way John Eaves paints her. She needs those arches, IMO.

Also, minor nitpick: the new model has too many forward torpedo launchers. There should be one Quantum launcher and two Photon launchers on the bottom. The aft launchers are correct, although the two above the shuttlebay lack red lights.
Quick Edit: The shuttlebay also has nine little doors, while the real ship has six little doors and one big door. You can see that in both Insurrection and Nemesis when they launch shuttles.

Whilst it isn't my favourite ship, I am very fond of it - do prefer the Nemesis model though and whilst I won't go out of my way to purchase the ship, I'd be more likely to do so if the Nemesis variant were a skin option.
The differences between the pre-Nemesis model and the Nemesis modified model are featured in detail here: ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/sovereign.htm

I saw the tweets yesterday and oooh yes they certainly raised a few red flags in my head -- I'm smelling a T6 refit coming
And maybe a bundled package? Here's hoping. ^^
Anyway, I'm glad that the Sovie gets her own facelift as well
And with the lighting updates coming to PC as well... EYECANDY XD"Ad astra audacter eamus in alis fidelium."

I just hope the T6 sovie being released in Nov is not the only one. I hope they have one Version in the C store at least. Im still going to track down the Nov limited release one anyway.0

The Twitter pics were very likely taken with the lighting changes in place; they're already 'live' on Tribble.0 -

She's an exclusive that you can only get if you purchase a specific expansion pack for the "Attack Wings" game.

With that paragraph, I'm going to assume it's getting a C-store release as well as the freebie.
If not, there will probably be a few unhappy people for a while.0 -
I usually care more for primarily tactical ships or at least secondary tactical engineer ships with my main tac toon, but I am very fond of the Assault Cruiser and I stupidly picked engineer ships when I first started playing this game up until the last free ship where I picked Assault Cruiser (eventually buying a default T5 Advanced Escort and moving on to actual tacical T6 ships starting with a Mercury tactical pilot ship). I am still looking forward to the T6 variant of the Assault Cruiser.0

Wait, so I have to find a brick and mortar store that has it in stock and go in person to get it?? FFS this is the 21st century man ... only time I ever go to a store anymore is to get groceries or medicine ... this is beyond annoying0 -

Well, the assumption is that a C-store version with a different specialisation BOFF hybrid seat (thus maintaining the exclusivity of the Wizkids promotional one) will appear at some point.
I have to say I'd be extremely surprised if this were not case - a lot of work has clearly gone into the Sovereign revamp - combined with the fact that this is one of the franchise's hero ships we're discussing I find it very difficult to beleive that they wouldn't capitalise on that.0 -

I highly doubt they are going to release this as a WizKids perk.

I notice that when I use any hull other than that of the Sovereign on Tribble, some of hte "decals" seem to be flying mid-air.Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.0

Just like a lot of people thought the same about the T6 TOS Connie coming in a R&D promo box. The MU Guardian has never been put in the C-Store to purchase, which is a shame, and you still can't purchase the Ambassador either.0 -

At least they make that easy they have a spot on the web page where you type in your zipcode and it tells you where the closest stores are.

I do not put much stock into the digital renders as I have seen Hi Rez shots of the actual physical model and the Enterrpise E studio model is breath taking in detail. The renders do not do it justice.0

Loving the new model. I especially like the improved detail on the deflector dish.

You'd think someone so adept at the interwebs would have heard of ordering online by now...
Or do you imagine they have a ****ing spy satellite watching your every movement? "We just had another code entered in... Oh, wait. Oh, no, he didn't go to a store, we're not taking his code entered through the webstite like everyone else who bought one. Nope, nope, nope!"

I'll buy the ship the moment its available on the c-store, and i'll try to get the attack wing one.. so i can get, at least, one exclusive in my lifeThe forces of darkness are upon us!0

The message I quoted said that to get it players need to "physically [purchase] the expansion at their local game stores", this wording would seem to explicitly imply that online ordering won't work somehow, which is what I was referring to and what has me rather pissed off.
Do I think they have a satellite following my every move? Hell no, I'm not paranoid like that. However, I could easily see a situation where online retailers are not provided with the codes, if that is the intention as implied.0 -
They are referring to purchasing from a brick and mortar store, many of which have an online presence in the form of a shop that you can order from online, yet you still are purchasing from a brick and mortar store, filling that criteria.0

I second that. Come on Cryptic peepz, you already have high quality Galaxy saucer, engineering section and warp nacelles! All you need to do is stick them together and replace the old Nebula model0 -

Damn straight!!! She was long overdue to be pushed to the Nemisis styling and also I am sincerly hoping she goes the T6 route and gets hanger bays too equiped with the ARGO and the actually nemisis sov bridge..Then I'd be happy to pump whatever $$$ they want for it as long its not a ridiculous amount..Adrian-Uss Sovereign NCC-73811 (LVL 65 FED ENG) UR/E MKXV Fleet Intel Assault Cruiser (April 2012) (Main)

It's a lovely model, no doubt about that at all, but still not sold - I prefer the Nemesis version.
Although I'm not convinced I would purchase that variant either - mostly because if I were going to buy a revamped Sovereign I'd rather wait and see if one with a more interesting hybrid BOFF layout appears in the C-store, but also because I'm sick of the over-emphasis on cruisers of late.0 -

Outside of the nacelle position and the walls flanking the saucer shuttle bay, the model is pretty much the nemesis version, several of the additional torpedo launchers are present on the model (particularity the ones above the airlock on deck 3 the the pairs on the ventral fore and ventral aft of the engineering hull).
What astounds me... is that they do so good on the model and the mess up the tiny details:
The port nacelle is missing its blue trail (honestly if we could get rid of ALL the trails that would be amazing, but if not lets re add the trail to the port nacelle)
and the port nacelle running light (the flashing on, right behind the bussard collector) has taken a vacation from the ship and is floating off in space0 -

at least it's not like the Imperial class where the nacelles wandered off entirely!0 -

Same. The Nemesis version looks sleeker to me.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Yes to both.
It's being 'revamped' and will be a T6 ship with command hybrid BOFF seating, although it will only be available via the promotion advertised on the STO website homepage.
Speculation is that they may well produce a C-store model with an alternative hybrid BOFF though (would be very surprised if they didn't as this particular ship is a guaranteed cash-cow).0
