I now remember why I hate it so much. Decided to give it a go again. That was a mistake. Uncommanded menuvers. It tends to stop turning for no reason. Not because of a tractor beam. It will fly straight but that's it. Happened 2 times in a TF I did.
Anyone else have this problem? Also, I thought when you do a menuver (not on it's own, but when you tell it to), it makes you temporarly invulnerable?
It also felt like I was shooting blanks half the time. Weird seeing my Fleet T6 Tactical Escort has the same Boff layout and similar console layout. But blast through enemies with that ship.
Guess I will stick with my trusty Fleet T6 Tactical Escort!

The immunity to damage is questionable as we do not know how long it lasts. It more than likely has such a short duration that it would not be noticeable.
As far as the ship stop turning, I don't know what to tell you other than I have had other ships suddenly stop responding to flight controls. I haven't be able to reproduce it and since it happens only in STFs, I just chalk it up to lag.
When you do your Pilot Maneuvers, you are invulnerable to damage. I use it all the time like the Crystalline Entity's AOE blast and timing it so I suffer no damage. It doesn't get you out of all CC however.
Also, there were times when my Pilot Ship (Mercury Class) would not turn until I did a pilot menuver. Then it would turn fine. I don't classify that as "user error" Not to say I haven't had my other escorts for no reason, stop turning. Just seem to experience it most in the pilot escort.
As for "Pilot Escorts surpass Escorts in almost every way" (apparently my ship didn't get the memo LOL) My Fleet T6 Tactical Escort has no problem turning NPC's into space dust. Now my Mercury Class has the same Boff layout. And almost the same console layout. (do to the ships console layout) It seems I could "spit" at the NPC and do more damage.
I honestly dislike flying anything other pilots at this point. The ships themselves take some getting used to - but the problem you're describing is not due to anything inherent with the ships themselves.
Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
I'd grab the Hestia, as I love the MVAE, but haven't gotten arround to it yet.
Hestia doesn't come with the MVAM module, so no ship splitting unless you already have the MVAM from the Prommie.

Blistering damage that can get right in there, drop torpedoes and mines right on the target, and get the hell out fast when the return fire arrives. You should be invulnerable for the duration of a rock boost or roll, but having good timing helps.
As for the potential flaw, yes, I've seen the turn stuck thing, and a quick evasive roll out seems to clear it. That's not pilot error, that's a real bug, and the team needs to get on that and fix it ASAP.
The touchy control issue is sort of pilot error because it's so touchy. You can't just cruise along as you do in heavier hulls. These ships require subtle and precise control, because the double-tap to boost, retro or roll is very easy to trigger in the heat of combat. The alternative is to disable keyboard boosting, but then relying on the HUD switches slows your response time to find and click.
I can't tell anyone else the correct way to fly these ships, but for me I have to use the keypad for quick maneuvers. I fly an Ajax and I'm doing things with this ship where a single second matters on whether I deliver my damage and then either get out clean, or end up with dangerous amounts of hull damage.
